- Brandy & Mr Whiskers isn’t a show that comes up often when Disney Channel classics are being discussed. This 2004-2006 buddy comedy was among the most unusual Disney cartoons of all time, going places the studio doesn’t often go. Was Russell Marcus’ sole cartoon creation a hidden gem full of surreal chaos, or an annoying waste of time? Maybe it was both.

Disney recently referenced this show on Twitter in a video going over a history of their animated shows, which skips over others in favor of it. Weird for something not on Disney+.

I love Brandy & Mr. Whiskers. It's in my top 10 Disney cartoons. Now thinking about it, a lot of the other characters in the show feel a lot older than Brandy & Mr. Whiskers. It's definitely weird to see Brandy & Gaspar kiss. That didn't age well lol.

16:53. To be fair, Proud Family feels complete with 52 episodes and a movie. Not so sure about the Lilo and Stitch Cartoon(although for this show, it really doesn't matter) , but Brandy and Mr.Whiskers, Jake Long and Replacements, I agree; they should've been given another season.
you know for american dragon jake long at least were able to conclude it pretty well the season got a little bit boring after the homcoming episode and for me there is more story to tell cause the graduated just from middle school at the end but when i think about it to me they start high school and i don't know where to go from there other than the huntsclan returning but i don't want that so i kind of wonder if a season 3 would of been a bad idea

This is one of the few cartoons that actually inspired my true interest in animation. I remember coming across it not when it aired on tv, but years later after it’s cancellation. It was just kid me looking up Disney related videos to watch on TH-cam, then out of the blue I come across a video called “RIP Toon Disney” which basically compiled a bunch of intros of the cartoons that aired on it, not only did it introduce me to Toon Disney (which was already Disney XD at the time), but the video showed an intro that intrigued me, even being seen on the thumbnail, Brandy and Mr. Whiskers. Idk how it did it to me but it worked, so I found the episodes to watch online and fell in love with it. Strangely enough Brandy Harrington is probably the first fictional crush I ever had as a kid, I guess this show made me get into midriff lmao. Afterwards I kinda forgot about it until the beginning of 2022 arrived and my brain instantly reminded me of it. And since then I looked it up again and rewatched it, and I enjoyed it as much as kid me did but I noticed more flaws. They’re not too big to make it awful but just small issues, but overall it’s a fun show, one of my favorites of all time.
I remember this being more of a settlement show. Like if there were nothing else on I guess I'd watch it. Gotta say though. Seeing it now after having studied art for the last ten years makes me impressed by how they manage to push Brandys gestures. They're really nice and dynamic without breaking
I loved this show. It was underrated and it deserves a revival.

I used to watch this show when it aired on swedish television on prime time as part of a prorgamming block called Disney Time that had been running since the 1980's. I remember when I first saw the show. I was around 20-21 years old or so, and I remember after that first episode ended I thought "That was kind of fun, but I doub't the rest of the series is as good. I probably just happened to catch an especially good episode". But I soon noticed that I found every weeks new episode to be enjoyable. Nowadays I actually remember it as one of my favorite cartoons from the 00's decade.
Also I remember how I would often catch myself looking at Brandy's midriff whenever I zoned out while watching the show, lol. Like if I didn't pay attention to what was happening in the episode my eyes would just wander to that spot, which I found kind of embarassing but also kind of funny in a "christ, what the hell is wrong with me... or with the entire male gender". I'm not a furry or anything but I guess midriff is midriff lol.
About the midriff part, I honestly kinda understand lol. On my hand I remember having a crush on Brandy when I was a kid, probably the first fictional one I’ve had. I guess this show made me start liking midriff lmao. And since I’ve rewatched it recently, I still like the character but not as weird as I used to be, more like a comfort character sometimes.
Brandy Harrington, Kim Possible, Jessie of Team Rocket, animation sure has a lot of characters that wear midriffs.

Brandy being a family pet and Mr. Whiskers being a race track rabbit, despite them being anthropomorphic like virtually every other animal character in this show, implies something really messed up about this show's world, namely that animals, who are basically people in this world due to the aforementioned anthropomorphism, are basically an oppressed underclass who are legally treated as the property of humans, who can use and abuse them however they like, be it as pets or as uncompensated laborers, the same way animals in the real world are treated.
This one was weird, it's pretty much forgotten these days and wasn't very big when it aired, but you could do much worse on a Saturday night.
This show always felt more like a CN show to me, I was always surprised when I’d turn on Disney and see it there instead. Seems very mid like you kinda imply though, I remember feeling the same way as a kid where I didn’t necessarily hate it but I didn’t like it either, it just sort of was on sometimes lol
A lot of their TV animated shows feel like Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon shows. Yin Yang Yo feels like a show you would see on CN, Recess feels like a Nick Show, American Dragon: Jake Long feels like a CN show, Dave the Barbarian probably could've worked on either channel imo, The Replacements I feel the same way about, Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go feels like a CN show, The Weekenders should've gone to Nick, The Proud Family would've been perfect on Nick, Kim Possible feels like a CN show, Lloyd in Space feels like a CN show, and Gargoyles definitely has CN energy to it lol. Brandy & Mr. Whiskers probably would've done better on CN tbh. It sucks that the scheduling for the show was all over the place. Disney's animated shows always had this strange feeling like they were supposed to be on the other networks, but landed on Disney Channel/Toon Disney/Disney XD for some reason. And then Disney acts like they don't care for them. They don't really market them the way that they do with their animated films. It's like they were better off on Nick and CN since that's how the shows feel anyway.

Prior to Gravity Falls, this was the weirdest Disney show by a large margin. To this day, the only Disney shows that I think are weirder than this one are Gravity Falls and Pickle and Peanut. Still, I hope it gets added to Disney+ sometime in the hopefully-not-distant future. Shoot, if frickin' PICKLE AND PEANUT can get added to Disney+, Brandy and Mr. Whiskers ABSOLUTELY can!
