Volibear lore and TL;DR version below in case you didn't understand the quotes.
The demi-god goes by many names but in the current days he is known as the Volibear. Volibear is the embodiment of Vorrijaard's, or Freljord as it is currently known, fury and power. There is a legend of how the bear created the Five Fjords by slaying a mighty magma-serpent known as Rhond. The blood of the beast became the first river (contrary to Ornn's belief) and the body created the Wyrmback mountains. In the old days when the tribes worshipped the old gods, Volibear was worshipped for his strength, for they needed his strength to survive the harsh terrain. Volibear marched to battle with his followers, wearing the armor crafted for him by his brother Ornn, the ram god of fire and forge. By the time the Three Sisters came, Volibear and his siblings had drifted apart. The Three Sisters, Avarosa, Serylda and Lissandra sought to bring order to the chaotic frozen wasteland. For the first time, Volibear and his siblings were divided between this conflict. Volibear and the great Iron Boar desired to have them and their kin annihilated, Anivia sought to aid them in their task and Ornn was perfectly content working away in his forge, ignoring the situation entirely. Volibear looked to the Ursine, the most savage and vicious of his followers and asked his brother Ornn to forge them weapons and armor, but Ornn refused. Ornn was disgusted by the Ursine and their savage rituals. Volibear and Ornn erupted into a fight and in the end, Volibear cast aside his brother's armor and cursed his name. Volibear found power without the armor, he needed no tools to become powerful, only fang, claw, might and the thunder. Volibear came before one of the sisters, Lissandra, who sought the power of the old gods for herself. Volibear blinded the sister. As time went on, the old gods were all but forgotten, and the Three Sisters came under the worship of the Freljordians. Volibear saw how the humans began to civilize, they hid behind walls, dammed rivers that should be free, they kept livestock instead of embracing the hunt. Volibear was furious, they were cut off from the wild spirit of the land, from Volibear himself. They had no respect for the old ways. Volibear was determined to tear apart civilization to once again see the days where he was honored and feared, the wild would not be forgotten. As the Vrestrom, The Thousand-Pierced Bear, He Who Stands, the Volibear's cry rings throughout the frigid north, the old ways are being remembered. Vorrijaard will return, and the Volibear will see it through, no matter the cost.
*TL;DR:* Volibear is the embodiment of Freljord's fury and power. He created the first river by slaying a magma-serpent. Old Freljordians worshipped Volibear for his strength that they needed to survive. The Three Sisters rose to power, Volibear fights with Ornn over creating weapons for his army. Volibear blinds Lissandra, one of the Three Sisters. The old gods were all but forgotten and the Three Sisters were worshipped instead. Volibear is disgusted by civilization, he wants the humans to return to the old ways. Volibear is determined to tear civilization apart and have the humans remember the old ways by force. As the Volibear's cry rings throughout the frigid north, the old ways are being remembered.
fun facts:
1. The little comment I made about the first river "(contrary to Ornn's belief)" is a reference to Ornn's quote "Volibear made the first river. You do not want to know how." Which, of course, hints that he pissed the first river into existence.
2. Vol in the Freljordian language is a curse word. The name Volibear is probably a sort of insult to the god.
3. Vrestrom means "Great Storm" and Valhir roughly means "Thunder God"
4. Both Volibear and Ornn have Thunder Lord skins
5. Volibear's champion theme is sung in the fictional Freljordian language which seems to be mostly Norwegian with hints of Icelandic and other Scandinavian languages thrown in the mix.

@@RealBentusiII Apologies for the late reply. I unfortunately do not have any insight into this quote, I believe they meant to keep it intentionally vague and ominous. If I had to guess what the quote was about, however, I would assume the Watchers or something to do with Lissandra. When Lissandra freed the Watchers into the Freljord she froze the people and things in the surrounding area in true ice in a successful attempt to stop the Watchers. One such individual who was trapped in the ice was Gnar, meaning that the true ice is melting. Perhaps this hints at a future event where the Watchers are freed and the old gods fight against the larger threat?
Like I said, though, I really can't say for sure what this is about. I'm only making theories at this point but if you have another theory, feel free to share!
I thought that Volibear confirmed the first river was made of blood due to his quote?
indeed, Volibear has a joke which is "The first river was a river of blood! What has my brother been telling you?"
I love the fact that the few voicelines that don't play that often showcase that Voli still loves his brother and is only reluctantly angry.

The lower one is my interpretation that he says it to try and justify his act to himself, his tone not truly agreeing with his claim that killing his brother was just
(Since some [Mostly Necrit] seem to interpret the end "surely this was just..." as him not finishing his sentence, assuming that what he meant to say was that "this was just a dream")

The tone, the echo, the emotion, and the music combine for a perfect representation of an angry pagan god. Very impressive!
If anything, this just makes me respect Sejuani even more, seeing as she is willingly travelling to face this absolute unit head-on.
I can imagine Volibear aiding a bunch of Freljordian warriors in a desperate fight against the Void, and him singlehandedly turning the tide with pride in his heart for the brave warriors who live life as he thinks it should be lived

Imagine that when every world destroying entities meet eachother for example like Morde, Void and Volibear I bet that they would instead fight each other which makes all of them both world destroyers and world saviours.
The thing is, Volibear isn't a world destroyer; he just hates the comforts of civilized life, and that he is being forgotten. He is the embodiment of the wild, so civilisation basically spits in his face.
He was the one who blinded Lissandra for her dealings with the void, namely the watchers, and in the lore has made it abundantly clear that he will protect the Freljord at any cost. A lot of people consider him evil because he steals Ornns artifacts (that make life easier) or because he tears cities down, and that's fair to call him evil for that. But his reasoning behind it is a lot more.. tame.
@@erentyrus2671 Lissandra was blinded BEFORE she met the watchers. Once she became blind, she started to wonder in dreams, which is where she came in contact with them. The actual reason Volibear took her eyes was because she was trying to control the wild magic of the world. As her bio reads: “It was Lissandra who stood against the wild magic of the mortal world itself. For this defiance, the savage claws of a primal god raked across her eyes, blinding her.” Volibear and the watchers have nothing to do with one another. You can read her bio for more information on how she came in contact with the watchers after Volibear took her sight.

Fun fact: the 'Vre' in Vrestorm is oddly similar to the Norse word 'Vred' which means 'Wrath' or 'Wrathful'.
It means Greatstorm in Freljordan, but can just as easilly mean "The Wrathful Storm" or "The Storm of Wrath."

If we ever get a properly animated Volibear or really any champion in the demi-god caliber, like Ornn or even Aatrox, I want them to be proper beast, like a walking natural disasters that consumes everything in it's path and destroys entire cities to do their characters justice.

@@dreamergamer9291Aatrox killed the Pantheon while he was in the host of aspect. So Aatrox didnt kill the Aspect head on, but killed him through the host. And everyone knows that Old Gods are more powerful than Aspect's host such as Diana, Leona, etc.
