Afterburn was more fun in my opinion. The inversion were more thrilling. On the Banshee, I felt like I had to do more fighting against G-forces. Also, I found that the small drop before the first big hill is more fun because I got that feeling of being pulled down.
Clearly banshee is my favorite. The scream at the lift hill made me pumped for the experience. The inversions we're awesome. Truly a world class coaster. Definitely Banshee

i went on after burn yesterday and OMG if you’re thinking about doing it, don’t be scared it literally feels sooo fast you don’t even know what happened. i forced my self to do it and believe me i was terrified but as soon as you start going, you don’t even think you’re just enjoying the ride! if you are debating to go on it, just do it and you won’t regret it, p.s i’m 11! this ride is very intense but awesome!
Of all the gimmicky coasters, I like the inverts the best. I can do without stand-ups, floorless, dive coasters, and wing coasters. That's not to say I don't like floorless coasters. They just don't add anything extra to the experience for me.
I think you needed to have a restraints category in this fight. In my opinion, Banshee would've won again, however I know a lot of people that hate the vest restraints.
Afterburner! ...spitfire pacing,high forces,and intense. Werner Stengel had a hand in this design. Banshee may be more comfortable,but lacks Afterburns pacing and intensity.
In my opinion, I like Banshee better because, THE HANGTIME IS AMAZING!!!! I agree that that last inversion is epic, I love all of the 7 inversions and I love the colors. When I rode for the first time they told us to sit in the 2nd row and at first I was like 😣because I did not know that it would be my favorite row, I also sat in the back, where I found that very slight rattle. In my opinion its the best roller coaster ive ridden

Ted Huber I was thinking exact same thing. The line Q video and the walk through the UFO was epic. When paramount owned. Their were emergency red lights in the outside line Q accompanied with sirens. Good memories. Still holds my favorite ride there. Blasting off into oblivion.
I mostly agree with you on why these are 2 of the best inverts though Banshees restraints KILL any other invert. The one thing I liked more about Afterburn is how I had no idea what the layout was like since a lot of it goes below ground level. 6 inversions and no mid course brake. I LOVED this ride. Banshee is still a little more fun. Raptor is horrible compared to these 2. The restraints, the cobra roll and the turn into the brake run on Raptor make me ride Gatekeeper more times and to avoid Raptor as often as possible.

i love banshee.... my sons sister was very scared to go on it and refused... up until the other day when we went to the first day of haunt.... she decided it was time and we rode it 3 times in a row. the lines were surprisingly short. ps my son cried because people with makeup scared him lol hes 10...
I lived 5 minutes from Carowinds and grew up with Afterburn when it was still Top Gun (I still call it Top Gun). It's still my favorite roller coaster and smooth as butter and tons of fun. The theming used to be really good (and made a lot more sense) for a seasonal coaster when it was Top Gun. So even if it didn't win it has a special place in my heart.
I think Afterburn is definitely one of the best inverts ever built, and maybe the best old-school invert, other than perhaps Montu or Alpengeist. The reason Afterburn seemed more intense than Banshee isn't actually that unclear. Afterburn was an old-school B&M invert, while Banshee is a newer take on the design. Afterburn was designed by Werner Stengel, who was well known for incorporating lots of intensity into his designs. B&M eventually left Stengel in the mid-2000's and started designing their own coasters. Their designs are far less intense than the Stengel designs, and of course there is the fact that Cedar Fair now intentionally spreads out their elements on their coasters to lessen the intensity. So Afterburn is the obvious winner in that category.
^Well.. intensity is subjective. In this case I'm talking about sustained positive g's, which is something Rob Decker and B&M tried to stay away from with F325 to create a re-rideable experience. He even said in a recent interview that with Fury 325 they intentionally stretched out the elements to not make them too intense for riders to be uncomfortable. Though, this is just a statistical analysis; I've yet to actually ride it.
Good, because Intimidator 305 is a bit too much. That first turnaround ruins the ride for me due to blacking out. The rest of the ride is A-ok though. Fury is very re-rideable.
My favorite B&M invert I’ve ridden is currently Raptor at Cedar Point, but Afterburn is a close second. Hopefully I’ll get to ride Montu in the future. EDIT: Montu’s now my new favorite B&M invert!
The smoothness of banshee got me shocked for sure! i don't like the fact that it has a b&m rattle to it i was hoping for a glossy smooth banshee ride but that's okay. it's ok if it has a rattle. not all b&m inverts have to be smooth.

Hey Taylor, I'm a little confused on which coaster you like better. Because you said that in the battle between Kings Island versus Carowinds that afterburn was the better coaster.

I agree with everything in the video. I love banshee cuz it's inversions have awesome hang time but the ride is also really intense. I hope I make it to Carowinds someday to try afterburn

They are just way too different. Backlot Stunt Coaster is a mild launched family coaster and Maverick is a super intense, thrilling, insane launched thrilling coaster with awesome airtime, turns, launches, and inversions. It is one of the best in the world. A world class intense and insane coaster just can't be compared fairly to a mild family launched coaster.
Afterburn is 144 ft. tall. the first drop is 113. Afterburn is the 3rd tallest coaster at Carowinds behind Fury and Intimidator. If it were 113 ft. that would make it 4th tallest since Nighthawk is 115. That one particular stat has been wrong on the Carowinds website for years ! Sources: I am one of Afterburn's operators and the original stats from B&M/1999 are attached to the control panel. Also it would be pretty hard for the trains to reach 62mph from 113 ft. unless of course.. they were launched... IE: Hulk !

4:52 Banshee tells a story better than any other ride at Kings Island? Definitely not, the story to Flight of Fear is so much more detailing and even has a twist.

Hulk doesn't reach the top speed from the launch. The launch is only 40mph. You reach 67mph at the bottom of the zero-g roll.

Maybe you should check out Montu at Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay. That’s my favorite, and a lot of others consider it theirs, too.

What is Afterburn's theme? I see a fighter jet and shark mouths on the cars, and then on certain shots I see dinosaurs. Is this like a Top Gun/Jurassic Park mix up?

4:52 Banshee tells a story better than any other ride at Kings Island? Definitely not, the story to Flight of Fear is so much more detailing and even has a twist.
I think Banshee only won because of the stats. Take those out and Afterburn has a chance. Each ride is different in so many ways.

Shouldn't Afterburn get some extra points for being 15 years older than Banshee?! I mean, if it holds-up THAT well against Banshee, it's quite impressive that it opened in 1999 vs. 2014!
