I once debated with my relative, he said that ethanol will be the fuel of future, I said first we will take methane and then convert it into amonia and then use it as fertilizer and then grow plants and then use the plants to extract ethanol. Why not directly use methane? People are crazy man.

What about syngas? It can be extracted from any dry biomass by using simple pyrolysis. It might be hard to store but very cheap to produce and can directly be used for cooking or power generation.

If hydrogen is not good for small scale, then why don't we use it as a portable power stations along with our highways to increase electric vehicles use, that too with the help of sunlight?
For that battery would be better as its efficiency is very high and you will need solar farms that are very huge and very expensive
