    I have been s susriber for some time, but, not receiving notices of videos. Truthfully I did not mind, because the older tutorials were impossible for me to follow. I accidentally came on to yours which are new and with you doing them. These are great and I can follow them. The old style they used just goes over the head of an old man. Appreciate you greatly. Hope I start receiving notifications

      I'm glad these have been helpful. Thanks for watching them. Was it a subscription to this channel that wasn't working as it should, or are you referring to being a subscriber of PowerDirector? --Jim

      @@SharperTurtle to the channel. I have a subscription to power director. I just do not get notices to new tutorials. Thank you for responding. It is rare these days. Also your tutorials are well done and explanations are clear.

      I'm always happy to respond to subscribers. I don't know why notices don't always show. I try to do a new tutorial every Friday, at least. --Jim

    I've noticed that you continue to return to the topic of key frames time and time again. This is GREAT. Personally, I don't have the need for key frames too often, but when I do, I find I've forgotten once again regarding what order I have to do things. It's a classic case of 'use it or lose it' and as I keeping losing it, your refreshes are keeping me on my toes. I know this, as recently I decided to include some keyframes during a project and guess what? Your successful 'drumming it into me' actually allowed me to complete the work without (Again) having to refer one of your previous tutorials!

      Steve,
      Good for you. I have lots of small elements in PowerDirector where the "use it or loose it" applies to me as well. Glad you are getting comfortable with keyframes. They will be second nature for you eventually. Thanks for the great feedback. --Jim

    Jim - great tutorial as always - I create travel videos with hundreds of still images and videos and like using the Pan and Zoom feature - when I click on "apply to all" I either get all zoom ins or all zoom outs - is there a way of getting a mixture of zoom ins and outs without using "Random" or doing a "user defined" for each image? - Thank you Regards Rob

    • @SharperTurtle
      @SharperTurtle  ปีที่แล้ว

      Rob,
      I don't know a way to get a mixture of only zoom in and zoom out for controls when using pan & zoom with images on the timeline. Random will get you a bit of everything. If you want to limit it to those two, I know no way to do that automatically. --Jim

    Thanks for that informative video. But how can I crop for example a 6k video and make sure I don‘t go below 4k resolution?

    • @SharperTurtle
      @SharperTurtle  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cropping and Zooming will not impact the resolution of the video. You can render it at any resolution you choose. When you zoom the clarity of the image will change because you are magnifying the pixels. But it does not have a direct bearing on the resolution. --Jim

    Thanks for this video.
    I have a few questions for you if that is ok?
    When accessing the crop pan and zoom window, I am unable to uncheck the maintain aspect ratio box. Is this correct. This happens whether I use a still photo or a video.
    Also, I don't have the options of the preset pan and zooms when using video, only when I use a still photo.
    If this is correct, how can I crop a still image or video without maintaining the aspect ratio (i.e. with the ability to uncheck that box? The only way that I can find to do this is in mask designer?
    I am new to Powerdirector and just want to make sure that everything is ok.
    Thanks for your help,
    Tim

    • @SharperTurtle
      @SharperTurtle  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you change aspect ratio to FREEFORM from the drop down, you can uncheck the "Maintain Aspect Ratio" check box. (This works on both videos and graphic images.)
      The Pan and Zoom presets are for graphic images only--not video.
      Hope this helps. Let me know if you have further questions.

    this video is great. do you have any ideas on how to make the video clear when you zoom in? I am trying to zoom in on some gopro videos of my sons sports. tx

    • @SharperTurtle
      @SharperTurtle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wendy,
      When you zoom in you enlarge the pixels. That will sacrifice some clarity. The higher the resolution you film in, the better the outcome. You can click on the fix-enhance button above the timeline and then use the edge enhancement. That will add a bit to the perceived sharpness. --Jim

    Hi, I've just discovered your amazing chanel. I wonder if there is a way to let PowerDirector to extract parts of a video with a specific subject on it. (sorry for my english) THANKS in ADVANCE

      Francesco,
      I do not know an easy way to extract parts of a video. The selection of sections you wish to keep or remove has to be done manually to the best of my knowledge. --Jim

    What version are you using in this tutorial? I am using Power Director 365 ver. 21.5.3107.0 and it has a much different look, there is no preview window, and the key frames are in a different place. I'm an old guy. Although I've been using Power Director for many years, I don't use it often enough. Can you make an updated tutorial? You explain things very clearly, but it doesn't match my version. Thank you so much for your great tutorials!😊

    • @ken4peace
      @ken4peace ปีที่แล้ว

      Oops! I was working in Color Adjustments, not Crop Zoom and Pan! Sorry, it's my old brain malfunction.🤣 There IS a preview window in Crop Zoom and Pan. But there is a Pan and Zoom tool that has presets. One of them is User Defined; that's the one I was using, and it's a bit confusing. Do you have a tutorial on Pan & Zoom?

    • @SharperTurtle
      @SharperTurtle  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ken,
      PowerDirector just made a significant interface change, which complicates following some of the older tutorials. The controls are still there, but relocated. As you may have discovered, you need to click on the EDIT button and then select "Crop Zoom Pan" to get to the controls. Time does not permit me to redesign all of the 600+ tutorials at once to match the new layout. I will attempt to revisit them as users like yourself try to work with the new interface.
      I do have some other tutorials on this technique. You will find one here:

      @@SharperTurtle Thank you, Jim! That is a tremendous help. One question: is it possible to download a printable "Hotkeys" (Keyboard shortcuts)? If I hit F1 & type Hotkeys into Search, it shows them, but when I hit print or print to PDF it includes a bunch of garbage on top of the Hotkey list.

      You can highlight the table in each division and then copy the data with CTRL-C. Then open an excel or word document and paste it into either one. It's not elegant, but it works. Jim

    • @SharperTurtle
      @SharperTurtle  ปีที่แล้ว

      That sounds like a frustrating situation. You might try to see if your graphic drivers are up to date. That has been known to cause issues. You also might find some help on the Cyberlink Forum. Sometimes users who have had similar issues post there, and the responses can give you ideas on things to try. --Jim

    pan & zoom features in Power Director is very basic and ridiculous, they must learn from movavi teams or other software developers

    • @SharperTurtle
      @SharperTurtle  ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope that most of the Cyberlink software development team watches their competition attempts to incorporate what they learn. But I have no more input into what Cyberlink may choose to do than any other user. --Jim
