    JAN 2021 I've just spent the last hour replicating this tutorial click by click (as I don't know shortcuts yet!!) and I have learned more here than I have on any other tutorial. Cannot thank you enough. Going to play about with what I now know and can't wait to jump on part 2 tomorrow. I'm in my 50's so I'm not a very quick learner!

    This is by far the best video on the amen break in logic, There are other videos, But you go in depth like no other, Thanks very much.

    While I knew how to chop laboriously manually, you've opened my eyes to some features of Logic that I've never touched!

    This has a very important step missing. The original break is very sloppy and has to have the hits brought in time. The break in the video looks as if this has been done. For any break that is an original break you may have to get the hits in time first before then going on to chop and rearrange. This is a good tutorial for this: th-cam.com/video/Vlrp7nPdwfg/w-d-xo.html

    Interesting method. Must try it myself. You still seem to get those clicks at various points... I simply can't get rid of them all regardless of what I've tried...

      Access the Edit window via the EXS24 and select the clicky samples and move the start point by opening in the Sample Editor via the EXS24 Sampler Instrument Window, or do it old skool by dragging the start and end points by scrolling/dragging on the numbers (like back in the Akai Sampler days) until the start or end points are smooth.

    ok but how are your notes all the same length on the grid in the sample track and fit perfectly. mine isnt doesn't do that

    Brilliant tutorial, found it really useful. Could you do something similar using Cubase 9?! (complete novice)

    This doesn’t work for me unfortunately, I’ve followed it to a T but when I get to the slicing bit it doesn’t slice like yours it’s just out for some reason? .. is it because your using a earlier version of logic x ? .... it’s a shame because all the other videos on chopping up the amen brake are not very good, this one is by far the best slice I’ve seen but unfortunately I can’t get it to slice like that!. Any chance of doing a up to date video on chopping up the amen in logic x ?

    After I did the chops, there are still pops at the end of the chops. After that I also tried fades at the end. After converting in the EXS, these were still there. Do you have a solution?

    For some reason, I followed these steps but after editing to make it sound nice and 'jump up', and adjusting the tempo, the breaks sound a bit too choppy. Any way to get the transitions a bit smoother sounding? cheers

    Is there a way to trigger the sample from EXS24 as a 'continuous break' instead of as 1-shots as shown here, yet still be able to edit the breaks? (I just don't want to have to create my own beat each time.. i'm no 'drummer' lol). I just wanna be able to trigger the sample as a rolling beat, but have it still be editable etc. ..Or am I asking too much here!

    I can't seem to get this to work. The sampler track doesn't flow smoothly, it jumps and jitters. No clicks just broken up.

    • @zenmode13
      @zenmode13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      same! have you discovered a way to fix that?? Been having trouble finding info on this

    • @zenmode13
      @zenmode13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      NEVERMIND i figured it out, you need to just get rid of the fades on the ends of each slice in the sampler. Totally smooth now.

    I can’t find the ‘convert to new sampler track’ option.. I don’t get that if I right click

      Search through all the options on the right click it will be under 'convert'
