- The High Tech Mirage (2014): Once nicknamed India's Silicon Valley, Bangalore is becoming better known as the suicide capital. Intolerance towards failure and ambition to increase their financial status is proving deadly for the city's youth. Subscribe to journeyman for daily uploads:

The centre of engineering, aeronautics, biotechnology: Bangalore holds the key to India's future. "I'm free to live my life, make my own choices. It's an amazing feeling to be independent," says Nilut, a 20-year-old call centre employee. She works 12-hour nights shifts and earns $260 a month. But overwork, stress, separation from family and a culture of intolerance to stress and failure have increased Bangalore's suicide rates by 40% in the last decade. "As soon as your firm needs you, you have to be there and work, be it day or night", confesses one IT professional suffering from depression. Providing cheap labour and building itself on the needs of bigger international economies, Bangalore is now paying the highest price.

modern slavery is found everywhere these days, even here in U.S.
Because many minimum wage jobs do not pay a living wage. Hence, people take on several jobs working day and night to survive like serfs in medieval days while the rich elites rake in the profits and live the good life. That to me, the absence of an egalitarian society, equates to modern slavery. If not slavery, drudgery. An absence of joy in one's life.
yup, you are right
Or people could learn to live with less. We tend to confuse our wants with our needs.
Sorry dude but this "learn to live with less" is the same garbage sermon being handed down by banksters & corporate crooks sitting up top who have learned to live with more & more stolen from the vast majority. Perhaps its time they be made to take their own medicine.
Yes of course I totally agree. But I still think we could learn to live with less while we are in the present situation. I think most people spend a lot more money than they need to. We do not realize how desensitized we have become to things like upgrading to the newest iPhone, purchasing the newest/nicest shoes, wearing the nicest clothes.... If you want more money in your pocket you can start with; wearing the same 4 shirts, the same 2 pants and 2 shorts, the same shoes, and maybe 2 pairs of underwear and one pair of socks. That should do you at least 2 years.
She is making $260/month & she think she is independent. In Bangalore the cost of living is so high that any savings from that amount would be a miracle. Thats not independence my frnd thats legal slavery literally.
You are a man...you dont understand....You already own your life....She had to fight for hers...
Nadeem Ahmed Amen
I work in a call center in the Caribbean and make 500USD and that is because I do the late shift. I have to talk to Indians sometimes and they can be very difficult to understand. Calling themselves American names is a bit humerus as their accent is obvious. Shame they are paid so low as they do the technical side which should be paid higher.
How does she survive if 260USD is not enough to cover your costs over there? She even smokes..
The purpose of moving forward is to continue moving forward, even if there is no answer to what the purpose of it all is. Still more, we keep moving forward and forward. Where are we going? No one even slows down to ask. And forward and forward we go. WE call this progress. The whole stated purpose of progress is to keep on making more progress. And so away we go. NO time to waste on asking silly questions
The racist comments on this almost make me ashamed to be an American. That person on the other end of the phone line happens to be a human being. Stop acting like they are worth less than you and like they deserve to live in misery.
I HATE it when my call is routed to India and they lie about their name. ITS VERY CLEAR YOUR NAME ISN'T JASON! No matter how hard these people try to hide their accent it's very OBVIOUS they are from India
Here is a girl who is trying to pick up that American accent, to perfect her English pronunciation at the expense of her native accent influences. And at the end of work day she comes back to a shabby, cringed space that she calls home. Living with a bunch of other girls. I felt so sorry for her.
If such a nation does not make progress, with all such aspirations and sacrifices, what nation will? Best wishes to all the hard-working, intelligent youngsters of India, from Canada.
Yeah, it's a pity that this is the best most Indians can manage
Refined Indian English,a 400 yr old one,n my fave.
its really simple if i lived in India i would make like a tree and leave
z1s2d3c4 I wish wish wish a god could come down to tell all economically poor youngsters of the world to just stop trying to become westeners and adapting everything we do as we are not better, not happier, not more beautiful. We are just the supressors and we are in fact preoccupied with becoming like you -living a simpler life without looking in the same mirror all of us and connected to our heritage.
Arata-Senpai make a tree?
i used to complain about the outsourced calls but everyone has a right to make a living. God bless the ppl of India.
I believe these problems arise when one is merely struggling for more money and a luxurious lifestyle but forgetting his/her's purpose of life..
i believe no one has a purpose in life and have the freedom to do what they want
good response .
Typical response of the I me my self entitiled generation....
rayt you do just you don’t realize it .
Call center jobs in America paid $14 an hour before they moved all the jobs to India in the late 1990's. These corporations are low balling the hell out of Indian workers. $14 an hour in America is close to $500 a week. In India they're paying workers 1/4 a month of what Americans made in one week. Indian workers need to from unions and demand more.
So the call centers can run back to the US, since its will expensive to run in India??
wantsome480 Don't americans work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week regular schedule?
That's 40 hours a week x 14 dollars = 560 dollars.
You said "$14 an hour in America is close to $500 a week"
WTF? You skipped math class or something? Please stop writing stuff, numbers you haven't verified (or were poorly verified), because it invalidates your entire statement and you lose all credibility, even if it was just one small mistake.
Your negligence costs not just your opinion, but an entire point of view that others might also share.
Sam Goodman I just rounded if off because of taxes and other stuff like insurance fees. It's wasn't meant to be an exact number down to the penny. It was off the top of my head. There isn't that big of a difference between $500 and $560. 2 People making $14 an hour working at two different companies would not bring home the same amount. Things work differently in America. Know what your talking about before you start talking out of your ass.
That would basically cripple the existing job market and the companies would move elsewhere. Free market determines the salary of lower skilled jobs such as call center. Would you also expect all the fast food employees in india to unionize and demand US level minimum wage ? Hell no, as you saw in video that guy was dreaming to get a 6 figure salary in INR thats is basically minimum wage and he is an engineer.
@@samgoodman4670 Are you still angry about his math mistake..? 😀😀
Who decided to translate from English to English?
04smallmj indian English is weird
You dumbass you have it turned on haha
OMG 260 USD into IRS is peanuts per month !!!These kids are overworked & under paid
+GGR Enterprises Their being used by the rich just like we were in America decades ago. It's pointless.
+Enigmatic Boy 260 dollars is 20000 rupees per month. Not sure you'd say that's a good earning given she has 8 years of exp.
It's not work, it's only attending phone call.
Outsourcing their souls
Good one
nice
Don't worry Bangalore, the rest of the world is catching up. In a few decades, we will all look at suicide (from stress) as a normal rite of passage.
Note that the fastest growing and highest paying job sector in US, and probably elsewhere, is not tech as many schools will tell you; It is in mental health specializing in stress management.
true, neurologist getting the highest paying salaries
How right you were
Stress, depression, suicide and over-work, whats new? This is happening in all developing economies everywhere and all financed by the mega corporations based abroad in countries like the US and France who look for cost cutting measures and ever cheaper employees because the workforce in their own countries cost too much, it's a vicious cycle.
The problem is that there are too few jobs and the jobs that are available are being snapped up by younger and keener individuals who will work for a cheaper rate. The cost is their health and their youth, everybody is chasing the same dream, the car, the house, the washing machine, the electronic gadgets and not everybody can attain this.
I love how the subtitles are inaccurate, and given to people who speak English clearly enough.
I see a lot of ignorant/racist comments on here. I am an American myself that 10 years ago lost my call center job to outsourcing to the Philippines and India. It's not the people in the countries that you should blame for these losses. Do you really blame these people for trying to better themselves?
And how about some humanity guys?
Joel Aldo yeah, some dumbass people don't understand. its the big capitalistic corporations in US, India, around the world who are sucking the money out of the masses.
These IT jobs are doing more harm than good. But be it in USA or India , people need money, & IT jobs provide easy and quick cash to teenagers and young people.and all big organizations are making a profit out of it.But if you see a far , they are harmful for our future.Anyways, whom to blame, we all are in a global chain now.
I think that Indians deserve a better quality of life... They are hard working people that just want to get ahead in life.
As long as someone in Europe/US has few thousand euros per month 1/2 of the world will have 100e per month or less...
What I find that Indian's are very polite and soft spoken to western counter part. Indian's are very smart people, but they don't take risk. India is independent from British, but they still rule the Indian mind. And that's been abused. I bet no westerner will work for that low salary for that long hours.
The mean IQ is India is 81
But in India its a above average hourly rate. And they are not working actually , just talking on the phone !
that's three lines of truth you have spoken! i am an indian working in bangalore for the last 1.5 years and believe me the slave mentality of indias is a very real thing. most people here will do anything to please their boss! they work for 9-10 hours minimum and when you show resistance you get singled out these MNCs are treating indians like cheap labor noting else ....
+ Leonid Uvarov I am guessing you are from Ukraine. First, try to understand your own self & history and assess your own capability before insulting others. Most probably you don't know about Indian or it's history. That was a very shallow & demeaning comment. And that shows your own poor character. Be respectful to others and live a life of a good person. I think your parents never taught you that, or u could be a bas%$#d of a mother Russia, who never got that opportunity.
DB fuck Ukraine
Bangalore has 1700 odd suicides in a population of 10 Mn giving it an average yearly a suicide rate of 17 in 100,000. This is about the same as Belgium's suicide rate and far lower than China and Japan which are in the lower 20's. While yes the rate is higher than India's average rate of 10.5 it still doesn't mean that Bangalore is a "suicide capital". Journey man made a documentary just cause they bloody had to it seems and the ridiculous subtitles give away the half assed attempt
WHO CARES. PEOPLE ARE DEAD. GIVE YOUR LIFE TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST TODAY
I know asian/indian folks at call centers are having a hard time, but I love them. They are so sweet. You guys are very helpful.
Their English is absolutely fine, it's the subtitles that make no sense.
To add to this: There are regular TV ads in Bangalore and TV shows which address this very issue. As an American living in Bangalore, this was the signal to me that suicide was a big problem in the city. Also, at 9:18 the lady is saying that work is WORSHIP, not "Warship", which caused the person creating the subtitles to write "commanding a battleship".
ATTENTION: GIVE YOUR LIFE TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST TODAY
Suicide is sad to hear... I have been to India few times for work stuff, and I suggest everyone stay away from here... It's just noise pollution, pollution, hot, humid, dirty streets, lack of deodorant, hot, humid, worst transportation than your nightmare, more pollution, more noise pollution, traffic everywhere, more traffic, everything is late, and so on...
Joseph Smith you forgot the brutal gang rape and murder of women, which in most cases did absolutely nothing to provoke such demonic attacks. Also how society and the Government victim-blame and look the other way. Disgusting mentality in India.
14:34: her 3 year old son is calling her mummy aunty... and she is bragging about it..!!! Can't even keep a 3 year old son along coz of their so called "career".... what a pity!!
I thought the same thing was kind of a shame to see her laughing at the fact that her son doesn't even know the name of her own mother. I guess they find incredibly normal.
+Abhirup Hazra they think they are very successful in their corporate jobs but in reality they are failing in being even a good parents... such a sad condition and...
This what its been like for many western mums, not worth it,shanti☮
Umm, I wouldn't be so quick to judge, she has a good opportunity to earn and pay taxes rather than be a burden to society. The kid is only 3.
my dreams are getting a 6 digit salary" that guy cracked me up lol
$1600 would be slightly more than Rs100,000 (Indian rupees) and that's the 6 digit salary.
Good lord, do you really need subtitles? Their English is not bad at all.
Subtitles are not even wrote right..
Moto420Xracer Exactly. at 9:13 in the video, "Work for us is worship" becomes "Work for us is like commanding a Battleship". I am so proud now to say that we speak better english than the people who did subtitles for this video.
their english is way better than the average southern american...
Exactly...the subtitles are all wrong in fact!
yes they do, sorry
I used to work in a callcenter in sweden, we worked 8h a day NOT 12.. i got burned out and 5 years after im still not the same person.....!!
I've worked for about 2 yrs in different calls centers and I got burned out too. It seriously messes with your mind saying the same thing again and again for hour after hour, month after month. You don't feel human.
dothedeed
they don't let you use any kind of recorded sound clip for "Hello, how may I help you?" and such phrases?
TrueBluesProductions No. You have to start talking immediately because you never now how long a customer has been holding before the call was transferred to you.
In my city in Connecticut alot of the companies laid off the American workers who have been there longer and were getting paid more and imported all Indians on a work visas. America is using foreign labor to drive to drive drive down wages for all.
every single Indian tech company is a scam. especially the software development ones.
Lol you are so uneducated it's not even funny.
Ive been to Bangalore just this year...and the city has still have much to be desired...its hustling and bustling but its rather chaotic and the infrastructure needs lotsa improvement, the smart people in India must take charge and reform India to truly be a super power, drop the mentality you are below the west, eg China has never think that they are inferior to the west that's why their mentality determines their push ahead
Amazing documentary. Thank you so much for putting this together!
India is becoming too westernized. Westernized by work standards. This is sad. I hope companies can see through this and find some middle level to deal with work burnout and stress.
This is the same situation that China has undergone. Losing their traditonal culture in the wake of economic progress. I hope India doesn't lose their traditional culture and that the family units of extended family can be preserved, cultural vaules preserved not rapidly fading due to western work values.
Do you really think that is sustainable for a country of 1 billion people? A lot people just mix the idea of westernisation with modernisation.
yeh more fat indian chicks with hairy pussies
Dave Perry LMFAO, I didn't see one hot or decent woman in the whole video, except for the mongoloid immigrant girl.
Richi Rich Why should a Mongoloid girl be an immigrant, People of India's North-East region shares Indo-Tibetan, Burmese and Thai ancestry. That's how they look like and yes they are very much Indian. Out of India's 29 states, there are at least 6-7 states where majority of people have Mongoloid looks.
Nicely done video guys. Hats off! I love Bangalore!!
All international or multinational corporations are evil AF.
I don't know if I should sympathize with this situation. Hear me out before you judge me. It does make me sad that people chose to take their lives but somehow it's their parents who drove them to this. Parents force their children to mint money and absolutely ignore family life work balance. They don't even seem to care about relationships anymore. Money seems to bring pride and joy for some fricking insane reason rather than children's happiness. India's youth is crushed under the demands of parents and relatives. India is the only country where parents want their kids to be like someone else's child. Throughout the world, parents tell their children to be themselves. If these people cannot handle stress then imagine the life of Indian students who commit suicides, because their parents nag them day and night for losing 1 or 2 marks in the examination. In India, young children are constantly shuttled from one tuition to another. All this pent up stress and emotions is what drives them to take their own lives. In a way, parents, relatives, Indian society and a never ending greed for money is the reason for these suicides. Ironically, this work culture with no life work balance was started by Indians. And now, here they are whining about working long hours. Looks like karma finally caught up.
It's very simple to see why there is so much stress, and then high suicide rates.Simply put these people are getting completely burnt out, depressed, feeling hopeless, despair,no way out.First of all when you have to work 12 hour days, and especially when you work over night, because of the time differences between the east, and the west.Your inner body time clock is off, because it's not natural to work all night, and then sleep in the day.that's another factor.I feel sorry for these people, because I've had to work under similar conditions in the past.which is why I gave up that sort of work, and moved on.Nothing's worth killing yourself, just quit the job,and move on.Believe me it will get better!
i m in stress after watching this
Sabbi Khela listening indian accent kill my ears, i really want to puke.
I puke over you and your akward existance.
JM Pictures exposing India's dark underbelly which is actually its stereotypical depiction since times immemorial.
IT industry does comes with lots of pressure on employees it is not city specific....
Um...last time I checked, the moral of the story "The Tortoise and the Hare" wasn't "it's better to be fast and reliable." I'm pretty sure it's "slow and steady."
I feel pathetic for the girl from Guwahati. She takes pride in being a slave and pretending like her masters.
+Kshitij Kulkarni Nice you noticed it.Eastern India is sucked of there youth.
Says she loves it,poor thing.
better than being a slave to patriarchy and religious oppression
Tr!shanku uknas!rT Yeah like Hindu.
No job is less than another. Every worker is important and they have all the right to be proud of their job.
The irony is that most Indians will not see the Irony. A son thinks that the name of his mother is mummy, and calls her Mummy auntie.
This is not coming from the work loads only. This is 'caring families' pushing their children not only into becoming good little breeders (especially when children are the last thing they need) like themselves (after all granny & graddad would feel even more irrelevant if they don't get fresh human livestock to screw up), they also force careers on them that their offspring wouldn't have chosen themselves. Every other sentence is 'my parents' dream for us is...' or 'my parents always wanted' and such nonsense. These mommies and daddies need to grow the hell up & realize that they're abusing & imposing and that they're not getting to have dreams that others have to fulfill. FOR THE ONES IN THE BACK: YOUR CHILDREN ARE NEITHER YOUR PROPERTY NOR YOUR DAILY SOAP NOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT!
You have educated people working for 12 hours a day and 6 days a week in India for not a lot of pay. Furthermore they work night shifts and have to deal with people with a superiority complex where none should exist as many times they lack basic education. Of course, it adds stress and leads to suicide in some cases
Most people speaking english here are very clear with their language, don't know why subtitles are at all necessary.
RAHIM DOBANI Yuck horrible accent you dumb cow lover.
WTF is she is enjoying freedom. I guess smoking cigarettes and drinking tea on the terrace.
the old man at @24:00 speaks english better than most of the indian youth..!
so many worrest things to live in bangalore, only corrupted people can survive
We Bangaloreans will agree with this...non Bangalore folks don't beleive this..
worrest things ,for example???
So how old is one of the girls profiled in this doc ?
@ 2:56 = 27 years old
@ 20:56= 20 years old !
Journeyman Picture producers need to pay more attention to such minor details ! Maybe they should have outsourced proofing read of the script before dubbing (or is it because they DID outsource it O_o ?!).
haha..maybe they were immersed into the fact she lives in 1 room with 4 girls
India needs the Venus Project. They have nothing to lose
Костя Зайцев one of very few people who truly understand a complete broken system good man!
Well read people are very rare these days 😀😀
230$, it is even below the least level of payment for person in our city (shenzhen)
Lol! filipino here.. I can relate..working in a call center industry is very very stressful indeed with all the changing hours and the demands of mentally challenge superiors lol!..but to combat it, I turn to travel or exploring new places.. my place in manila now has alot of asian restaurants and leisure parks to explore that is why I guess that despite the stress of the everyday world, philippines has a low suicide rate, because we now have so many beautiful things to turn to when times get rough
"Slow and steady is good but fast and reliable is better", what a disgusting world. Doing the same thing as always tearing the family apart, divide and conquer. God help us all!
I worked for one of the Global Banks - I live in Tokyo and I managed three development teams in Bangalore India. Those teams were provided by an outsourcing coming that the bank has a contract with. The turnover of 2 years is by design - the people have a signing bonus and only get to keep it, if they stay for 2 or more years - if they leave before that, they have to return the bonus. This is a common practice in Bangalore, to minimize the upward pressure on wages. The global bank then take the cream of the crop - taking the best workers and offer them a full time role within the bank.
But there is a certain type of discrimination based on the university they graduated from. They might be talented - but unless they went to a famous Indian university - they don't get offers for full time roles within the banks. Otherwise the workers are seen as a head count only. The commoditization of people.
And the burn out in the IT industry is not just in India. I was burnt out at 40 - because the bank pushed me to do more with less - being on call 24/7. So the offshoring model - using Bangalore for development - has an on flowing influence on the managers, managing them from other locations like NY, LND and Tokyo.
OKAY AND GIVE YOURE LIFE TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST TODAY
Lol whats with the subtitles - Her English is excellent!
Wow this is so depressing..
Higher number of suicide are in UK and America, not India.
Not true.
so sad my bangalore collapsing under pressure
Pretty badass band in the beginning damn.
wow the captions are annoying, discriminatory. there is a big difference between 'primordial' and 'very good', and between 'critical' and 'subordinate'. wtf is wrong with the person who captions this stuff? i wonder what other captions on JM TV are twisted, with the speakers not speaking english?? this is horrendous.
DRAKONETTA what captions?
much better than china
Basamasa Anzer u sure, Indians have less right and I will prove it to u
no it's not, i come from china
Kid should stay with grandma until 12.
no need for the reworded captions. they speak perfect english.
yes but their accent is a distraction makes it difficult to understand .
No
The girl doesn't have any purpose and too naive to understand her situation. She is pretending to be happy but she is not.
the lady being featured about 20 minutes into the documentary seems quite "happy" with her world. I can remember working in Government and all I had was 3 years of a university degree and a diploma in computer software applications(a not so great course in MS, Adobe). I saw so many people climbling the ladder so quickly and I just seemed to be blown around in a lot of endless little contracts and jobs in the org. And yes it did really start to bother me when I observed people without the drive or the committment that I thought I had. I eventually left the best job I ever had because I let my lousy attitude start to grow and fester. If I had stayed on the slow and steady I was already returning to university and over time I wasn't far from completing my school even 1 course at a time. So it was my fault. If she keeps her attitude cool you never know what she is capable of. Maybe a degree in advanced economic development.
Mahesh bhat 27> actually!!
Mahesh bhat Exactly! What freedom is she talking about ya? One of those confused ones for sure.
What's with the subtitles? It makes to sense. Their English is fine. The subtitles are so pointless.
I totally agree. The subtitles were horrible and not needed.
The subtitles where not to insult the English of the participants. Australians have their own English and the subtitles just reworded and reordered some of the dialogue for easy recognition. I could understand every word and I'm sure 95% of English speakers would have no problem understanding, but for that 5% the Ozy's have done some translation lol.
Goldie Leone If you have people from different countries who learned English as a second language speaking to each other then accents can be a problem.
auto-generated by google software
Some people need English to English translation, others don't.
It doesn't matter whether you are a so-called native speaker of English or not (and many of the people in the video may very well be native English speakers).
Ex-wife from the US South, can't understand Australians. While her deviation from whatever you think is "normal English" (RP or SAE usually) is not so strong, I'm sure that many Australians would have problems understanding her relatives.
I'm from the island with the most ethnic groups in the world clustered upon it. If even half of what you say is in English, I'll understand you.
I hate how Journeyman Pictures feels like they have to totally change the wording and even expressions in the captions, just caption what they say, we understand and appreciate the way they are formulating their ideas....thank you, otherwise great doc!
Actually India has enough brain power. I think Indians need to start to treat Indians better, like how China is currently paying very competitive salary in the IT industry.
So sad that their little idols cannot give them any joy or relief.....
We are all marching to the suicide of the whole global civilization and most people don't even know that. There is no future for us. Either climate change will kill us or the next financial market collapse or world war 3. Maybe all of these will happen at once.
@noway I have been aware of this. My kids literally have no future. Within this life time, it is all ending. I work in many incarceration facilities (jail, prison, and state mental hospital). When the credit collapse comes (ie when credit freezes and all the fake wealth of the USA comes to a crashing halt), there will be no food at the supermarket, no water out of your faucet, and no gas at the gas station. The workers at the jails will walk off. The prisoners will break out and it will be very ugly. I think for that reason, one must be prepared to end oneself before the thugs robs you, rapes you, etc.
no way from the 2008 lows, we have gained 300 % in the stock market. Just think about that. does it look to you that we have made 300% in production? All of this market is propped up by the national debt and the way that everyone is encouraged to spend spend spend with cheap loans. All of this is borrowed wealth that is part of the national debt. Just pull up a national debt clock leaderboard and you will see that your statement is 100% correct. All the money gets borrowed and then lent out again as credit and as fractional reserve lending. [Fractional reserve lending is where the bank only has to keep 10 cents (10% of any real dollar). So, let's say you have 1 REAL dollar. You put in the bank. The bank lends out 90cents. That second person deposits 90 cents and then 81 is lent out. So, even if there were $1 real, it gets multiplied very quickly.] The whole system is going to crash. Hey: no way . . . you seem to understand this. So, what is your exit plan? thx.
no way Hi: what is your exit plan? is it quick and painless? thx.
I m a flight attendant and i m just 19 year never thought of doing a suicide lol
I work as a software developer in Cambridge UK and my opinion is that India would be better developing its software industry rather than serving as an outsourcing country.
There are plenty of bright capable software engineers in India and they can do much better than outsourcing, which on the whole they do fairly poorly because the truth is - you can't really outsource IT especially not software engineering, it just doesn't really work very well due to a lack of domain knowledge.
Map of India shown is totally wrong.... Please correct it.
lads playing death metal music about 'suicide capital', smh.
#irony
That's not Death Metal. It's "some kind of" metal lol
Come to city, get a job in corporate setup, earn big money, start partiying, boozing, smoking screwing up health, culture, etc left alone from the family as they chose to be in persuit to make money or so called better future which in turn kills them, call center, IT firms are actually exploiting the youth and one fine day would throw them off when they find you are juiceless meanwhile these folks have to upgrade themselves & up on feet but there is a limit for everything, home loans, car loans, Cr.cards, plastic money pulls these employees to be bonded slaves. If this is life & prosperity then think again.
Depression and stress is indeed very taboo still.
"Perfecting her American Accent"...lol..
The funny thing is that Indian people keep calling Bangalore an "Indian silicone valley," but the only tech-related thing they have there is call centers. R&D divisions pulled out of India years ago because they found their operations there fruitless.
lmao who said bangalore has only call centres?call centres started first all the software and hardware companies of west have a campus in bangalore and then there are indian software and hardware companie.
***** Dude, there's like InfoSys and a couple more but that's it. Even another documentary on bangalore mentioned that the "tech industry" there is 90% call centers. Microsoft and a couple other american companies had r&d centers there, but they pulled out and quit operations way back in 2006.
hey its you!, you were on the trollstationyt video lol!
"she's 27, live alone, independent" well looks like she'll be joining the 35-40+ year old single women club looking for men soon.
Thanks for the subtitles.. so useful when you jump segment after segment with the right arrow.. Are people truly watching all these video full length...
I wish the sub-titles were accurate to what was being said and not paraphrasing or interpreting what was said. It is an interesting documentary and I enjoyed it. I've worked in places that used overseas tech before, including Bangladesh and India so I it is interesting to see what actually happens over there.
TRUE. GIVE YOUR LIFE TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST TODAY
I want me an Indian girl.I will go for her since she said she is single.
***** If you have money her family will all become your servants as well,(you forgot to add).

Did you got one bro?
The busy grind of the IT industry leaves little time for the family. Forget about the family, you're young!! For the sake of honouring Shiva get some sex, it's the Hindu way, I'm a keen ayurveda mediator and English native, and sometimes I think I'm more Hindu than most [native] Indians.
Yogitek starving for sex? India has a million sex workers.
Truth be told, become a Uber driver. You will earn more and spend more time with your family. What's wrong with these people? Why don't you open a shop near your house and earn more? You will also get a lot of free time to spend with your children. People are going mad, seriously!
She's only 20??? Damn, smoking ages you fast.
What a nightmare. People everywhere. I guess they just don`t get what their problem is.
not a single happy face. yeah it's an suicide industry...
They're Not Really Happy
Journeyman Pictures the Subtitle are all ruined, you wrote WORSHIP as BATTLESHIP

"And they will pay for a grave sin of making a slavery environment instead of a better place out of my motherland losing so many of her sons and daughters everyday. Both the makers and the believers of the system.God i watching.Better go back to humanity.FREEDOM ! PEACE !"
~unemployed n' struggling.
India needs what may be called "Low Consumerism Zones".
Silicon Valley of call centers, LOL.
I work in a call centre in Australia (even though I don't take many calls) and I am complaining that I only clear 700 a week! Cost of living is higher though but I think it's time I just shut up...
Is this what modern India has become.
This is a big shame
yes a big SHAME. Serving US companies and foreign companies for little pay is slavery without guilt when one accepts it. How much does it raise India's GDP and help the economy? India can only help from within and export mass, create systems. The US and foreign nations are feasting into higher profitability by lowering capital requirments for these backend jobs. Simply put, front end jobs pay more. Retail, Consumerism, Customer Sales, strategy require more talent and ideas than giving only support and depending on who you are selling for it can be rewarding. Risk/reward. Have to always think about closing deals for a profit to make money not supporting some thing like friends especially to some other country who might turn one day and take market share away from the country itself and obtain a monopoly. Parasites, demonic in religion someone fights them. Its Psychology. watch?v=J3ZihT9lVbA watch this, you'll learn alot, your helping psychopaths and so you yourself must fight back.

8:25 India loves day and night solving problems, why not solve the bigger problems staring India in the face. God and everyone else will love you for it.
This isn't modern anything, this is India being used as cheap labor for multinational corporations. She works 12 hours and day for almost 7 days a week, that's not such a great life.
When I call for customer service, it pisses me off when a foreigner answers.
They should find shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Krishna. That's the best solution to avoid suicides.
yea cause religion is answer to all of life's problems
locknight determined meditation and intense concentration helps tremendously. We don't want our youth to consume pills like the west but rejoice mental wellness with yoga. That will prevent a lot of problems
These videos are always good to get some perspective on the American way of life. I wish these folks all the best. Very smart and hard working people.

work culture is differing from place to place
people forget that the morning can brake your spell to have bad thoughts
try to collect and give 10 smiles till 11 AM
go home to an animal you care for
go find the miracles in the corners
spend for the things you truly need
To be frank, I myself meet my parents every weekend, For me office is for 8 hrs and that's it, in critical situation's we have to do overtime, sometimes even till morning 4 AM. But its ok once in a while, we get satisfaction when we deliver successfully. But we prefer to spend as much time as possible with family. But most important thing for us INDIANS is savings. Here we enjoy as well as we save for future. But what I observed in other countries is young generations are more towards enjoyment, where they spend all their earnings, Very few people plan about future and save their earnings. What ever country it is, young people should try to earn and save as much possible as they can. Guys after-all we all are working for money and future. If there is no money there is no future for us. We are not billionaires, we all are middle class people, and country should not be a matter of difference here.
You are not alone!!!! We Chinese youth like to save money for future too. To my observation, people of developed country prefer spending all the money in shopping. I don't know which is better because shopping stimulates consumption and facilitate the economy which helps each individual at last.
in the developed world, people use loans to buy for good and services, when loan cheap close to 0% interest rate people buy more and spend more. Some people invest in businesses, create jobs and jobs pay employees so they can spend and help other jobs, economy is cyclical, boom and bust. This is called buying power. With loan you can leverage your status quo, you can also bankrupt meaning you owe too much to pay back. You can also spend for lawyer and sue an entity for more money but hard and have to spend many years preparing case.
afghans are the same too!
TheScorpioTechno Caucasians, arabians, east indians are the same!!
The only thing they are different is the culture or religion!!
Ask to get pay better wages ; so you'll also have time to be young and have fun !
That's why being young is about ; discovery with fun .
Life is short !
The husband and wife @15:00 are very decent with heads in the right place, hope they succeed
The subtitles for this are ridiculous. Not only are they badly transliterated and used soley for the Indians, they change the sentence structure entirely.
She says, "I feel that it is amazing to be independent", while the subs say, "It's an amazing feeling to be independent".
What's the point in changing the word order, seriously?
I feel pity for these IT slaves . Over confidence, craving for making paper note's mountain actually destroy the hermony of life. You need money to persue your life this true but you really dont need that much money that actually mass-up your simple life peace. Yes end of the day simple life is the best life.
