I am from South Africa and I am so happy to watch this video.. The struggle in our country we tend to blame the past too much for lack of our success, yes obviously "partly" systems were created to hinder the success of the people in this beautiful country. But, I believe if our young people can rise in their state of mind and begin to change things for themselves this country and the whole continent can be a better place to live in. I know it starts with me. Thank you Silicon Valley.

I wrote this and sent part of it to Victor at Kaufman. I saw your comment on TH-cam here, so I'm sharing with you because you seem to be inspired by the same message and I'm hoping to connect with people like you. My message: Hey Victor!!! I heard you say something about Silicon Valley. being a" state of mind" and how can we recreate in other places. Like they say in poker, "Go BIG or go home" Do you agree with Peter Diamandis? (Abundance) I am an athlete and love things that are fast, so I guess I'm always wondering how to help "accelerate" abundance for everyone. I live in NY and saw you on some TH-cam video about Silicon Valley. I guess I'm interested maybe in moving to Silicon Valley? and I think I'm interested to see how we (everyone) can build the fastest growing company ever? I don't know, it just sounded like something fun to do and the Bigger we think, the Faster we act, the More we can help, right? So, I guess I just thought it was a good idea to drop you a line and see what you think and whether you know anyone interested in helping. I just see business as a fun way to help people. It's just like a big game that we get to play together with friends and help others. So, let me know. I love things that go fast, Justin
Yeah. "Silicon Valley" is like a metro area. Sort of like "Chicagoland" or "The Tri-State area" of New York. Except Silicon Valley is more specifically classified as the northwest bay to the west, down the south bay. Where as "The Bay Area" is the entire area of the bay.
Victor Hwang was by far the most correct and motivating interview in this film. The beauty of the place itself and near perfect weather inspires those who come here to make their dreams a reality, but in reality, Silicon Valley is a state of mind more than a geographic place. The weather, nature/natural beauty, and location are just conducive to that. The natural environment and weather foster that "can do" spirit. This video didn't show the real Silicon Valley at all though (geographic place). In that valley, assuming there is no kind of major recession, 100,000+ jobs will be created in the next few years as Samsung, Apple, Google, and others expand.
Yeah, I really liked what Victor said. I tried writing to him. Whoever posted this comment seems like you and I are like minded, so I'll share my thoughts with you too. This video talks about San Francisco as if it were the center of Silicon Valley. In reality, most Silicon Valley companies are in Santa Clara County 50 miles south. It would be more appropriate talking about Palo Alto in the north all the way down to San Jose.
Branon Fontaine oh shut up. If it wasn’t for San Francisco, Silicon Valley would be a wonderland. No body cares about boring San Jose. That’s why companies are moving here into the city.
The thing these guys forgot it that most of the start-ups aren't in San Francisco, but in the actual "Silicon Valley" aka Santa Clara County and a bit of San Mateo and Alameda counties. Santa Clara county is where the real stuff is like Apple, Google, Meta, Nvidia, Intel, formerly HP, Oracle, and Tesla and all the start-ups I forgot. Nowadays it is only a specific region of the already small San Francisco that hosts Twitter, Uber, Lyft etc. While that counts as Silicon Valley now, before it was the actual "valley" of Santa Clara county. Thanks and great vid.
Only people who grew up, lived, or visited the Bay Area know that there's a bunch of homeless people everywhere and that this place is NOT as nice as they make it seem. Your glorified dream is false.
What you don't say is that, you don't find the average homeless in every corner of Silicon Valley. By average, i mean, smoking crack or asking money to go buy crack. You find guys with great minds and ideas but that were unable to succeed, so they sleep there hoping to get a chance.
Gang members in East LA are more reasonable then liberals in the Bay Area. In East Los it’s all about respect and common sense. Glad to be an Angelino now
Awesome video. I recently moved back to San Francisco after failing financially and being forced to move away. I went and lived with my mom for the first time in 10 years. It was tough. 3 months later I took courage and a job interview. I brought my last $1000. After many obstacles I have successfully implanted myself here again. I feel like I can teach other people how to do what I have done TWICE now. Regardless of obstacles. I don't even have a college degree! Silicon Valley is definitely a mindset.
Update. Yes I'm in sales, was working for Gusto a fintech startup. Unfortunately, with recent policies, price increases, etc I left with my wife and newborn across the country to Virginia Beach, VA. Haven't looked back. Making over 6 figures and my wife gets to stay at home with my son. SF is officially fir the rich, the bay area has no middle class anymore. Crime is up, and the poorer locals have been pushed out. Great place to visit, terrible place to live and raise a family unless you have dual income over 200k a year. That being said, my confidence to move came from my success and willingness to succeed in the bay. God bless 🙌 🙏
Great perspective into what it's like to rock out with a Silicon Valley startup. Really appreciate the views and perspectives of people actually doing it! Thank you!
Parents are the single most stumbling block to entrepreneurship ... We are facing the same here in Bhutan. But still bent on building the Silicon Mountain ... After all, Silicon Valley is a state of mind ...
what I know is that the *film is full of motivations and give lots of inspiratinonal toughts. people like me, who are thinking about jumping in the business's world, need to see it, cause they will feel them selves very ready and prepared for carry out.
They forgot to say you CAN'T fly to Silicon Valley and work / create your startup, because it's nearly impossible to get a visa for that. Also crazy rent in the Bay Area (due to high salaries from these Silicon Valley companies).
Talk about some cancer. My god I have lived in SF for over 10 years and the retarded companies that make it into YC and get funded are ridiculous. These investors are some serious retards and the companies getting funded are bullshitting harder than people bullshit on their linkedn accounts. Everybody wants to be a king but very few will get to be kings. Most people just want to raise 5 million and get their 100k job for 5 years and run their feifdom. Its really going to be so funny when this startup bubble collapses and you see about 1 million software engineers that cant get jobs. It will be a good time to buy in SF and MTV. Another thing they dont tell you is that unless you graduated from stanford you cant get funding from investors. Its almost impossible to get any funding if you dont come from stanford. Its unreal the nonsense startups that get funding literally because their founders graduated from stanford. Such cancer.
I knew someone who grew up in Sunnyvale and inherited the house that he grew up in (His parents bought the home around 1955-1956) and he told me how much easier it was for him to live in the bay area considering prop 13 kept his property taxes from up. His home is worth somewhere around 1.1-1.3 million.
Thank you for this amazing video. I learned something valuable about Silicon Valley and I look forward to experience the Silicon Valley life someday....soon... 😉💖
I love the idea of Silicon Valley, and it's impact is invaluable. But at some point, a niche area, a niche idea, a niche attitude becomes hip, and once it becomes hip, it loses the very element that makes it great. In other words, the guy in the video who points out that he is eating a TV dinner at 7pm while at work is self aware, and that fact that he is intellectually investing in fulfilling the silicon valley stereotype reveals that his passion is a bit of a facade. Maybe not, but it seems like his goal is to appear like Steve, but not be Steve....
so true, cuz nobody wants to see cheap condos and junk yards not to mention the true "engineers" that float the valley's real workforce rather than handful of VCs that keep skipping the court room day after day
@@tenminutetokyo2643 like u fixed the US and have a right to talk. A country of immigrants has an obligation to allow new immigrants especially if they are far better than local population
Well the intro to the documentary, the night n day timelapse clip, the way you drove with your friend into San Francisco while introducing the show and offcourse I was thrilled by Nadir, founder of Bagadev, building rockets! I mean I thought some problems were meant to be solved by a team of govt. Scientists only. Generally the positive vibe by the interviewee's, their challenges and experiences is something that is quite inspiring

So my wife is a Data Architect and just got a job offer in Palo Alto for about $250k. I can likely find decent employment out there too. My question is, how weird and expensive is the place in reality? I have been to SF once for a few days and it was ok and the Napa Valley was nice. SF just seemed... strange, maybe? Surreal? I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but it gave me an uneasy feeling. Do you think you could maybe provide some input for me? Thanks.
One of the key ingredients to a successful tech or non-tech startup is to have a good product or service and understand the market that the product caters to. The startup ecosystem reduces the risks associated with starting a business.
This the video I will come often to get motivated. Thanks a lot for making such a great video. I can only imagine the efforts made by the producer and the people to make this small documentary. I must say, it was worth it.

This is just a motivation video. I´m going to Silicon Valley in few months time and from now my mindset is absolutely clear. I´m coming to this video frequently cause is powerful and is my anthem from now. I know that I´m changing the world and this is my path
Silicon Valley moved up here to San Francisco..didn’t you even watch the video and how they said “all the fun in San Francisco” every body wants to be in the city, no body wants to be in ghetto boring San Jose. Everyone here in the city hates those tech companies moving in, invading space and soaring up the prices, and the demand for housing.
I've gotta laugh! For public consumption, San Francisco is always featured in stories about Silicon Valley! The truth is that the epicenter of Silicon Valley is two counties south of SF in the South Bay around San Jose (which is bigger than SF). San Francisco is definitely more glamorous, but most of the real cool technology is at least 30 miles south.
SIMKINETICS Yeah, true! And you we look at Stanford, the HP Garage, Apple HQ, Google HQ and so one all of them are in Silicon Valley where it all started from. However recently many companies started basing their HQs in SF, think of SalesForce, Uber, Airbnb, so we wanted to report part of it in our video :)
+SIMKINETICS The reason, in my opinion, is because it's where all of the tech is put into practice, with the city as the first market for many forms of new tech. Also, we do have our fair share of the Bay area tech, so it's not like we don't have any claim.

San Francisco is NOT silicon valley. It is part of it. San Jose IS the capital of Silicon Valley.
San Francisco is not part of Silicon Valley..
Yeah they just open offices in SF when they try to market things from Silicon Valley.. and open up swanky offices to get more investors.
it's been invaded by silicon valley..
Yeah. "Silicon Valley" is like a metro area. Sort of like "Chicagoland" or "The Tri-State area" of New York. Except Silicon Valley is more specifically classified as the northwest bay to the west, down the south bay. Where as "The Bay Area" is the entire area of the bay.

In other words, the guy in the video who points out that he is eating a TV dinner at 7pm while at work is self aware, and that fact that he is intellectually investing in fulfilling the silicon valley stereotype reveals that his passion is a bit of a facade. Maybe not, but it seems like his goal is to appear like Steve, but not be Steve....
pretty amazing comment .
damn ur comment is amazing dude. teach me...
Step 1: Stop being American
Totally true... Silicon Valley needs to diversify geographically if they really want to be diverse
Every successful system attracts parasites, which is what happened to SV. A hipster kindergarten of wannabes.
That’s is really good video!
"Welcome to Silicon Valley" starts with a bunch of images of San Francisco, which is not in Silicon Valley.
aluisious IKR, Silicon Valley is based around San Jose, not San Francisco!
thats when you know your a 'tourist' lol
so true, cuz nobody wants to see cheap condos and junk yards not to mention the true "engineers" that float the valley's real workforce rather than handful of VCs that keep skipping the court room day after day
after watching this video,i really want to start a company.....thanks a lot for inspiring
Silicon Valley is my dream.i do not know whether it will ever come true or not but i will try my best :) :)

i almost gave up. but watching this video makes me wake up.
A great production I must add, the stories and the journey's to make a difference in the world told in 27 minutes.
Thanks +Peter Koech, we tried our best! What's your favorite part of the documentary?
Well the intro to the documentary, the night n day timelapse clip, the way you drove with your friend into San Francisco while introducing the show and offcourse I was thrilled by Nadir, founder of Bagadev, building rockets! I mean I thought some problems were meant to be solved by a team of govt. Scientists only. Generally the positive vibe by the interviewee's, their challenges and experiences is something that is quite inspiring
Thanks for creating this! Awesome job!!!
Thanks.
It's one of the most inspiring video for young entrepreneurs...... I think u should make more such type of videos..
i love this video because i love programming and tech
One of the key ingredients to a successful tech or non-tech startup is to have a good product or service and understand the market that the product caters to. The startup ecosystem reduces the risks associated with starting a business.

Nope, that's the Golden Gate Bridge, 40 miles north of Silicon Valley.
Stumbled upon this video tonight and I'm really excited about it!!!! Thanks for the inspiration
I love this video. Silicon Valley is my dream place.
张刚 I live there.
mine too
I live here and would say it's a nice place to live if you are a talented person. If not, it can be a challenging environment.
张刚 this video is lies, Silicon Valley is not like this. educate yourself and see how bad it is here you're being fooled by a video of lies.

San Francisco is not Silicon Valley. Funny how SF always looked down on the South Bay and now they want to be part of Silicon Valley.
+Susan Hubbart i love u
True....BUT THEY CAN'T SIT WITH US!! 👎👎
th-cam.com/video/JXUc65sF6iY/w-d-xo.html
Silicon Valley moved up here to San Francisco..didn’t you even watch the video and how they said “all the fun in San Francisco” every body wants to be in the city, no body wants to be in ghetto boring San Jose. Everyone here in the city hates those tech companies moving in, invading space and soaring up the prices, and the demand for housing.
Susanoo Huknwkrbbartñj
This is the best and most motivating piece I have seen.
ya this silicon valley is so awesome place. but i want make my country like silicon valley
Silicon Valley is a Mindset... Well said.
SIMKINETICS Well done man.
+SIMKINETICS thank you what a fool who made this video ,San Jose is silicon valley
+SIMKINETICS The reason, in my opinion, is because it's where all of the tech is put into practice, with the city as the first market for many forms of new tech. Also, we do have our fair share of the Bay area tech, so it's not like we don't have any claim.
couldn't agree more, san josé is major part off silicon valley now. especially with the new apple HQ campus in cupertino.
This video motivated me so much. Thanks!
Ill go there pal... wait for me
