Explaining what 'muff' is reminded me of a housemate at uni.
His parents came to visit one weekend. They were chatting in his room when suddenly his mum said:
"John, what's the muff divers club? Is that one of the societies you've joined? You've never mentioned it."
At which point he suddenly realised he'd forgotten to remove a large banner on his wall proclaiming him to be a member of said club.
His dad was killing himself and said:
"Yes son, explain to your mother what a muff diver is!"🤣

definitely potential in this channel, I have watched Americans reacting to British media but I have never seen a British man and an American woman both doing it. The constant back and forth dialogue explaining what everything means is very entertaining, even more so when you can tell that your wife just isn't getting the British humour and you're cracking up at it. Keep up the good work, You've got a unique niche of content here
I hope you guys react to all of the inbetweener episodes because it's literally the most "You have to be British to understand it" shows about, so its so entertaining watching you trying to explain it, but you just have to had to grow up in Britain to truly get it haha

I mean, I think for the most part, the comedy is pretty universally funny since we can all relate to being awkward, embarrassing and sexual teens, barring certain terms, but there’s always so many jokes that the minor language barrier isn’t really that much of an issue for non-Brits.

A ‘Muff’ was a ladies tubular accessory back in the day, maybe about 10-12 inches long. Usually made of fur, when such things were fashionable for those who could afford it. The muff rested on your abdomen, while you placed your hands in each end of this furry tube to keep them warm on cold winter days while you were outside, adding a touch of elegance I suppose. The derivation of the word ultimately became one of the many imaginatively colloquial references to associate with female genitalia. The connection no doubt equated to those probably covered in a thick growth of pubes! (Human Fur)
A further reference would be: ‘Muff Diving” - ask your dad! 😀

In Australia you can get your "Learners" at 16 which means you have to drive with an OPEN LICENSED driver for minimum a year & 100 hours in a log book.
when your 17 is the youngest you can go for your "Drivers license" which is a P1 (Red P Plates) meaning Provisional with 4 demerit points, after 2 years you can apply for your P2 (Green Provisional Plates) which is for 1 year. after that you get your OPEN LICENSE with 12 demerit points!
you can't drive any v8 powered vehicles or turbo etc on your P plates only on your OPENS!

in the UK you can apply for your Provisional(learner licence) at 17 you can then only drive if you are accompanied by an adult with a full driving licence who has held it for 3 years and is 21 or over. i passed my driving test back in 1993 when in the U.K the Theory and Practical parts of the test where both done at the same time while you where driving the tester would ask questions ect, i took my driving test in my mothers car because my driving instructer had double booked for tests that day, so i drove my mother to work then without insurence drove myself alone to the test center then did my driving test in my mothers car that didnt even have a working hand brake so i had to hold the brake pedal in and pretend to use the handbrake when doing the hill start i managed 20 mins out of the 45 min test and the tester said "Congratualtions you have passed" please drive back to the test center. :)

    In the UK;
You can apply for your Provisional Driving Licence when you are 15 years, 9 months old but you cannot start driving lessons until you are 17. The only exception to this is if you have a disability and get the enhanced rate of the mobility component of the Personal Independence Payment benefit.
If you are learning to drive you must display L plates and be accompanied by a person who is over the age of 21, who has held their full UK driving licence for at least 3 years.
To practice motorway driving you must be be accompanied by an Approved Driving Instructor, in a car fitted with dual controls.
You must pass the Theory Test and the Hazard Perception Test before taking your Practical Driving Test. This must be done within 2 years of passing the Theory elements or the Theory pass certificates will expire and you’ll have to take them again.
For 2 years after passing your Practical Driving Test, you are limited to a maximum of 6 points on your licence. If you receive 6 points at any time within those 2 years, your licence is revoked and you must retake all elements of your driving tests.

In the 90s at least, you could also drive at 16 if you were a farmer and driving for agricultural purposes. It didn't have to be a farm vehicle. My farmer friend got a year's headstart with the ladies!

    • @CymruEmergencyResponder
      @CymruEmergencyResponder 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@aarontaylor4967 good point! Here’s the current rules on Agricultural Tractors:
A 16 year old can legally gain a category F licence. A category F licence will only allow the holder to drive an agricultural tractor and trailer on the road. A category F licence does not allow the holder to drive any other type of vehicle (e.g. telehandler) on the road.
At age 16 a person with a category F licence is restricted to driving an agricultural tractor with a maximum width of 2.45m. This width restriction applies to both the tractor and the trailer.
A 16-year-old can tow either a two wheeled trailer or a four wheeled close coupled trailer. A close coupled trailer is one with axle centres no more than 840mm apart.
A 16-year-old with a provisional F category licence is not permitted to practice on the road. The only time a person with a provisional F category licence can go on the road at 16 is either when they are travelling to or from the place where the F test is held.
It doesn’t apply to any other type of farm vehicle such as combines, tele-handlers, sprayers etc.

It is a rite of passage to have a shitty first car. My sister and I shared a Renault 5 that had belonged to my Grandad. The front passenger door used to fly open when you went round a corner. But we loved it because it meant freedom! And ahem, some people do pass first time - that would be me....

Learners permit is just a provisional bro. Also there is no minimum amount of hours, I just took the test and passed.

This reaction was bleedin' hilarious. Oh shit man, I was creasing up.
You two are brilliant. And The Inbetweeners in the perfect show!!
Please do all the episodes. I remember watching this when it came out in 2008, I wet myself watching it, remembering my teens.
Subscribed and watching your other vids. Keep this going, your banter and way is brilliant. Fella, you're explaining British life and culture is too funny.

I disagree about Alton Towers being for kids, it has some awesome rides, it had the original Nemesis ride, I used to live 12 miles down the road and worked there for a bit and went on the rides all the time during my off time

Yeah agreed. Oblivion, smiler, Air. None of those are for kids. It does have a cbeebies land that is for kids, but overall it's more for adults.

How you described Alton Towers is just waaay off. There is stuff for kids sure, but it's got some of the best rides in the UK.

You also learn to drive manual cars - you can learn automatic but I don't think anyone actually does that.
Edit: you mentioned it later on.

I heard you can start driving at 14 in South or North Dakota because there isn’t much public transportation so you need a car to live your every day life. Fun fact I learnt n it’s kinda fascinating being a Brit n learning this. Imagine driving at 14😂
