I had the honour of taking refuge with Lama Yeshe and he is a truly admirable human being. I remember him saying, it's not important to call yourself a Buddhist, just be a good person. I'm trying!

The people must remember that is also important to choose better what kind of cultural information they will allow to influence their brains and minds, remembering that we all have a subconscious mind too. Only awareness can liberate consciousness and spirits, and lucid dreams must be developed for more people to help the world population, we must remember that collective inconscient consciousness really exists.

I asked lama yeshe who he prayed to because he said he doesn't believe in a god but although he talked a lot he did not answer my question. I went to his Buddhist retreat at Holy Island in Scotland and the prayers were in tibetan. When I read a translation it was praying to the anscentors for the monks and their ancestors. There was nothing about the rest of the world. So I left confused. He owns nothing but lives in a mansion at the end of the island with people running round doing everything for him. There was a Scottish monk who would go 'hmm, how you say?' so that I thought English could not be his first language but it turned out it was. The people there were lovely and I had a lovely time but I left confused about what they actually believed. Also there were films shown showing Buddhist monks doing spells for rain.

The confusion is to keep you returning in the hope of figuring out what its all about.
All Buddhist monasteries are hierarchical, nuns at the bottom and below novice monks. The head monk usually live in a very nice house, perhaps too comfortably for a 'monk'. They are indeed attended to hand and foot. When giving public talks, the public bow down to the head monk, who never bows in return. Despite exisiting on donations. (public money enables them to be self serving all they do is give the occasional talk)
Most talks are actually lectures on lifestyle they aren't interactive nor do they go into the scriptures or a methodical study of the religion. Talks are a way of conditioning you, aka brainwashing, with often simplistic pop psychology.
The Tibetan monks are money obsessed, his monastery is worth tens of millions of £'s. So his and all buddhist monk talks are hypocritical.

I would recommend listening to some of the teachings delivered by Ken Holmes, who combines long experience of this Buddhist tradition with very clear and down to earth explanations of some of the more obscure or ambiguous content. You may find clearer answers to some of your questions too. Best wishes.

I understand your doubts and questions, keep them. It is important to be sceptical in a world full of trickery. If you really want to know what they believe, be aware that a few phrases will not answer your questions, not even a full-day lecture. Read about Buddhism, starting with core teachings ''the four noble truths'' and ''the eightfold path''. Learn and practice meditation and reflect on fourth thoughts that change the mind (Precious human birth, impermanence, cause and effect AKA Karma and suffering or Samsara. . I have learned from this Lama and many other teachers from all sorts of different backgrounds and admire them for what they are ''only humans like you and me''

@@yoya4766 Nope, the confusion is not to keep you returning. The confusion is because you lack knowledge and wisdom. And you couldn't be more wrong about the hierarchy. Show me where Lama Yeshe looks down on anyone; he sees all sentient beings, including cockroaches, rats, etc. as Buddhas and treats them as such. Their 'pop psychology' as you so politely put it is more useful than modern psychology which only recently included the subjective element; what a joke. Modern psychology will have you seeking outwardly while Buddhist psychology will have you seek inwardly, where the true causes of happiness and the true causes of suffering are to be found. lf I follow your school, I'd be, sad to say, engaging in conative idiocy, which is devoting my whole life to that which will never ever bring about the happiness and fulfilment that I seek. & if I keep it (seeking outwardly) up and I can guarantee that I will die unfulfilled. It would be a lose-lose situation really, meaning that if I fulfil my aspiration, I will sooner or later realize that what I attained is not a true source of happiness in and of itself and I'll be unsatisfied, and disappointed. And if I don't realize my goal, I'll be frustrated. Lose-lose. Whereas if I follow Buddhist psychology, it's a win-win situation meaning that even if I don't actualize my goals, it'll still be good for me in this life and the next, and I'll be heading in the right direction. Learn about conative intelligence and get back to me. May it be of benefit 🙏 meridian-trust.org/video/four-kinds-of-intelligence-for-optimal-mental-health-and-balance-1-of-8-b-alan-wallace/
