  • A powerful addition to RCP's DAQ capabilities is the BOP event -logger. The system will monitor, display and archive a wide number of BOP critical control functions and koomey unit sensors. This data is used to indicate in real time system status, electrical actuation, feedback signals and pressure read back currently present within the BOP control system. The event logger also monitors and measures hydraulic fluid flow and will determine the volume of flow for each valve function with respect to POD selection and operation. The above data is presented in various formats on a 19” zone 2 HMI which will indicate BOP control system status (Health of BOP control unit) and can be tied into RCP RMS systems.
The system also displays BOP testing / functioning through a maintenance screen: Function / alarm history, sensor pressures - trends, flow period / fluid volume are calculated against OEM volume / capacity criteria to help determine potential problems within the system at an early stage, information such as this and ram / preventer operations can be used in cycle based maintenance where technical crew can calculate the number of functions and therefore predict maintenance schedules accordingly. Accurate ram positioning indication can be indicated given volumetric displacement of hydraulic fluid.
The BOP E-log is a powerful tool that is used in BOP testing, control fault investigation, BOP health status indication and measurement; it is a means to accurately predict immediate/future maintenance requirements and will help identify potential problems at an early stage saving on expensive downtime. The software package will also include a number of BOP system reporting options, such as functionality check, test verification and system status.
