    I just love my Grails!
    I am not a "brand maniac", but without my Grails, my Filson rucksacs, my woobies and a couple of more specufic items I really get out of my confort zone!

    I'd like a showdown between grayl and Katadyn Befree.

      We actually have a few new filters, so an updated showdown video is definitely possible.

    Thanks for sharing, nice comparison. Recently, I bought the Grayl Geopress and I'm really happy with it! Easy handling and clean water ... perfect! :)

      Great response! Go Team Shawn. My brother can keep his straw. We know what’s really going on lol

    Love the Grayl. Usually carry a 1 litre metal Pathfinder bottle as well which I fill from the Grayl so I’ve got 1 3/4 litres of water handy, plus a metal container if required.
    Filter cartridge in the UK is about £25, so works out to about 10 pence per litre. Much cheaper than bottled water.

    I suspect that many people own one and sing it's praise but don't do serious treking with real wild water.

    So if you want to fill an extra container with the life straw how would that go? Not well!!

    • @PioneerSurvivalCompany
      @PioneerSurvivalCompany  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You can fill the extra container with dirty water and transfer it to the one with the life straw.
      We typically carry the Grayl more often now than the universal lifestraw. However, the ability to boil water if your filter clogs , can’t be forgotten.

    Grayl is a huge problem for me. Mostly because they should sell a prefiltering bag. Because any turbidity will kill your filter.

      That’s strange. I just watched the entire video and the audio seems to be fine. Maybe check your network connection or try again in a bit. Thanks for checking out our videos.

    The lifestraw only filters the water not purify like the grayl

    • @PioneerSurvivalCompany
      @PioneerSurvivalCompany  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. The grayl removes viruses and the lifestraw does not. That is something to keep in mind depending on your location. In the US, we don’t have to worry too much about viruses in our water ways.

      @@PioneerSurvivalCompany The grayl also removes arsenic, lead and other toxic substances.

      You are absolutely right. We’re still in search of a filter that will remove cyanotoxins. The Grayl will remove blue green algae, but not the toxins they release in the water.

    filter water quick. pour it into a bladder. pour it into a pot. pour it into a bottle. drink out of it. brush your teeth with it etc etc. Grayl just has way to much utility with it for me to justify buying anything else.

    Will the Grayl Geopress water purifier filter out fluoride? Does anyone know?

    • @mattariety955
      @mattariety955 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its filters viruses , bacteria, pathogens and metals so im sure it would take out fluoride

    • @PioneerSurvivalCompany
      @PioneerSurvivalCompany  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Grayl filtration technology only filters out some fluoride (about 20%). It is a super pesky molecule ☹️

      @@PioneerSurvivalCompany it is one that the Berkey has solved quite nicely.

    How is this a good comparison. The Lifestraw is a filter, not a water purifier. The Grayl is an effective, but very expensive water purifier. Opposite ends of a spectrum
