    I took your advice and bought a Grayl for my trip to Turkey. What a lifesaver it was. Even the locals don’t drink the water, but with the Grayl we had safe and tasty water for the whole trip. Thanks, Ray!

    I've already decided to purchase one it's one of those things I think that people could use all over the world it's pretty ingenious probably the best purification system out there right now. Yes I know that's subjective but this isn't a water filter it's a purification system there's a huge difference throw in a Milbank bag or something for straining outsilt and debris, sand junk chunks, and you have a system that will last

      I agree. I usually strain through a bandana when I fill it. I use it a lot. Plan to take it to Europe in June. Thanks for the comment!

    Excellent review, I had the opportunity to observe it in use on an Elk hunt, Two of us had the Sawyer and one member of the party had the Grayl, The speed and ease in which he filled his water container was impressive!! Now I own one.

    Ray, thank you for your water purifier review. After watching your video, I purchased a 24 oz GeoPress purifier for myself (Illinois) and one as a surprise gift for my sister (Florida) on separate orders. I used the coupon code MARTINRAY15 and received a 15% discount on each order. I placed both orders Monday night, February 20. Both orders were promptly processed and promptly shipped Tuesday. Both orders were delivered Thursday morning.
    I didn't know my sister planned to purchase a water purifier to use while hiking in the Bighorn Mountains (Wyoming) this summer. She is very happy with the surprise gift. By the way, she agrees with Ray that the water in Florida doesn't taste very good.

    I need a good water filter for a friend who lives in Africa. He is drinking water from a swamp well. In this moment he is boiling the water before drinking.
    What is your recommendation? Which water filter can you recommend in order to not boil the water before drinking.
    Thanks!

    • @Ray_Here
      @Ray_Here  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a great question. I don’t consider myself an expert on different conditions so I would encourage you to contact the GRAYL folks directly. You can go to GRAYL.com and click on support. The have a chat line as well as an email contact. As far as size goes, I would recommend the 24oz Geo Press. Right now they have a special offer that includes a free extra filter that your friend will likely need. Good Luck! I hope you find what you are looking for.

      Suggestion, have your friend in Africa first prefilter the water a few times through some tight woven cloth, I use a doubled over bandana or Shemagh (a.k.a. keffiyeh) Only after the prefilter use the Grayl. The goal is removing as much of the sediment and particulate matter as possible which would quickly clog any filter. Prefilter applies to any water source from a pond, stream, lake, river, and the like. Your Grayl filter will last considerably longer.

      Hi there! I bet you have already gotten your answer by now. If not, I wanted to let you know that the Grayl is perfect for Africa and other developing countries. They say it works for all 7 continents. I got mine for Mexico and one day will use it in Africa.

    Since you already have the geopress and the toaks ti pot, do they nest together?

    • @Ray_Here
      @Ray_Here  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m traveling so I can’t test that for you. I don’t think the geopress would nest but I’m betting the Ultrapress would. I will let you know when I get home, if that’s no the case.

    • @Ray_Here
      @Ray_Here  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to take so long to respond about the Geopress. It will indeed nest in the Toaks 750 ml pot. Plenary of room!

      @@Ray_HereI received an email reply from them and they said it filters 20% of fluoride ( ONLY) I think they could do better than that.

      Thanks for sharing that. I’m more worried about the little nasties that make you sick. I use mine mostly hiking. I’ll be going to Europe in June. I will definitely bring the Grayl. Good luck finding something portable that will remove fluoride. Let us know, if you find something.

      @Ray_Here, yes I think so far from my research grayl is my best option but if like me you are going to a developing country for two month or so, the idea of drinking fluoridated water everyday hurts already lol

    • @Ray_Here
      @Ray_Here  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interestingly, when I was young, my father installed a fluoridation system in our house as we had well water! Most public water systems use fluoride. What do you do on a daily basis to avoid that?

    Hi Rmarvids!
    Great review! This is probably the best one I've seen so far. I've been going through a bunch as I recently started looking into purchasing a GeoPress. I have a quick question if you don't mind. You touched on the shelf life of the filters and mentioned that when unused/unopened they will last up to ten years. So for the filters themselves, would that mean just leaving them in their original packaging or is anything else needed in order to reach that shelf life? For a newly purchased Geopress that would be stored for emergency use only, does it come packaged in a way where the filter can be kept airtight in order to maximize shelf life? I imagine being in the bottle would give it the perfect airtight storage spot, assuming there is no way that the cap was twisted loose in the packaging.
    I would be purchasing from an REI so I'm not sure if they're shipped or displayed in a way where other people can open and mess with them before purchase.
    Thank you!

      Thanks for the comment. I’m glad you enjoyed the review.
      As I recall, the filter is in a sealed plastic pouch but I’m not sure. I recommend contacting GRAYL. There customer service is great and they usually respond quickly. Also, I do t have my glasses on and may have hit the thumbs down button. If so, my apologies!

      Wow! Have fun on your trip! You will appreciate having the GRAYL. I have both e the 16 oz and 24 oz. The 24 oz isn’t much heavier and the capacity is much better. As far as I know, my coupon still gets you 15% off.

    Informative video. Used MARTINRAY15 to purchase a Titanium and 24oz. Covert. Both are very nice. Filtration is amazing! Agree with updating the 16.9 screw cap so that it can’t be lost. I have to drink a ton of water due to kidney stones and normally have to cart water bottles with me. Now with the Grayl I can always have clean filtered water anywhere and anytime I need it.
