Well, glad you kept the footage, I don't think I would accept any amount of money to put up with the kind of intimidation the marina and captain of the Skat tried to dole out. What they say is, money corrupts and obscene amounts of money corrupts obscenely. I think this apllies to a lot of the mega yacht owners.
I loved the story and the fact you had sense to transfer the footage immediately. Before Covid I went to a well publicised visit by a celebrity from the BBC. It was in the marketplace and they had a load of private security as well as police. Everyone was taking photos but the private security was doing their best to stand between the celebrity and the people. I could move easily but some elderly ladies at the front couldn't. I told the security guard to get out of the way or I was going to walk past him to take photos. He lifted his hand to stop me so I reminded him he was just another member of the public without any powers and I would call the police across if he put a hand on me. The senior guy saw what was happening, came across, I explained what was happening and he was really good. He moved his security guys so people could get photos.
Bouncers working at pubs and nightclubs are in most cases standing in a public place, which gives them no right to prevent people from waling anywhere, including entering the premises. In order to comply with the law, they should stand inside the door.
Where I live in the Caribbean I and a few others purposely built homes away from the masses in the hills for peace and quiet with privacy. We started having a rash of unidentified drones which invade privacy and are very noisy hovering level to the second story of homes and over pool areas. Our security started shooting warning shots with their shot guns and it ended. Peeping Toms or crooks casing out the places?
Nobody should be invading your privacy like that however the destruction of an aircraft is considered a federal crime. The FAA and the NTSB consider all types of drones as aircraft, therefore protecting them under this law. This applies to all drones, whether they are used commercially or recreationally.
Well for early days using a drone, you sure captured some fantastic shots. You definitely have an eye for cinematography. Are there many yachts that have been built in a military look? If there are more, I'd love to see them as well.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Scat really *does* look somewhat like a warship at first glance, especially the silhouette. To me she specifically looks like some form of relatively modern corvette, the only thing she's missing is the gun
eSysman is super bada$$!! From telling the Russian's he's gonna keep filming when they threaten him to downloading his footage before security shows up lol! That's James Bond level precision! Love it! :) - que 007 theme -

I was once intercepted by port security for filming a documentary (not shipping related)on a hill, with a northern English port behind me. The port was in Hull, and just a commercial port, as far as anyone is aware. I wasn't even in the port, or even in front of the entrance. All very strange, as security turned up from nowhere within a few minutes.
I always believed the rule to be that there is no expectation of privacy in an outdoor space. Just another example of the rich elites thinking they're in their own special class. You handled the situation well and I'm soooo glad you posted this.
I would also like to see more material on non-traditional non-conventional ships that have been converted to yachts. Seems like you mentioned something on one episode about a smaller cruise ship that had been converted to a yacht.
All beach is considered public places at least across EU and in the US, and anybody can film in public places. No one can see or ask you to delete recordings unless they have a warrent. But as you said in reality they can just pressure you as they want. I think you handled it very cleverly.
In the Bahamas, beaches are treated as property of the Crown upto the high tide mark. Similar to the BVI, you can rightfully go to Bransons private islands, the staff may not like it and try to intimidate you and shoo you off but they can’t do a thing.
That is a beautiful yacht, It's nice to see one that doesn't look like all the others, I wish the captain of that yet would allow you to do a video of the yacht, If I worked on that yet I would be very proud. Very interesting yacht.
I tell you what though mate from your first day out with a drone filming a yacht this is pretty damn good footage. Even if it is a little bit cheeky and close. But still cracking work for your first time! You must’ve realised at this point you had a future in it!
I remember reading about both those boats, yes they definitely have gotten mixed up with military vessels more than a few times. Both are gorgeous, I couldn’t imagine the fuel costs for any of them 😁
Absolutely one of the BEST sea tales you've told to us by this time. You stood up to "the powers that be" admirably. That yacht, "Skat," looked a lot like one of their Lurssen OPVs, similar to the ones operated by the Bahamians!
Very interesting as always. Totally understandable that the SKAT Captain would be looking out for his people and job. He really didn't know what you had filmed particularly but would want to keep any information from being released.
Good You handeled the situation as You did. About the airspace, it depends. In the territories of most EU countries, the airspace above private land belongs to the owner until a hight of 120 m. It was 150, the EU changed it, to address issues with drones. Because Helis need to stand clear of 150 m flying overland. So, to hold them apart... It was actually legal to intercept drones over private property, after some people shot them down, this changed a little bit...
Formatted SD cards are easily recoverable. Sandisk even offers a free utility, but software like R-studio can do a much deeper scan in the case of corruption/damage etc...
Never really been into Skat videos, but this one was exceptionally done. Great story and quick thinking on your feet to preserve your first drone video. In shape and color alone from a distance this could easily be mistaken for a littoral boat, like a scaled down version of the USS Freedom, I know the USS Freedom is 350' +/- and the Skat is 240' +/-, but a boat that is unidentified and fits the shape and color roughly has to be identified further before entering into a close proximity. So it makes sense the story of the naval vessel approaching the Skat in another situation. It seems risky to own a boat of this style if you are going to be in the Mediterranean with so many unstable countries nearby, I don't see the point of having a military looking boat and not have the firepower to go with it.
I enjoyed your SKAT story. I respect the billionaire's privacy and I think you respected it too. No harm done; thing is everyone is a little paranoid in the modern world about trust and security. At least that's how I feel about things.
Having done a law degree, I also experienced people manipulating the law, or trying to, for their own benefit. I’ve enjoyed setting them straight and securing financial compensation for their insolence!
Skat is a regular visitor to Guernsey on their way to and from Northern Europe. They like to anchor off the island of Herm, a little piece of the Caribbean in our waters.
The captain was probably trying to say that by posting the footage of his yacht in the marina then it would give away where your yacht is! (Which would violate your NDA)
This vid was so awesome on so many levels....your intro music and graphics treatment were a perfect overlay to make it very mysterious and Mission Impossible-esque. 😂 Then, pretty impressive footage with your brand new Mavic with very few flying hours (back in your beginning days)....I know...almost like the gym, I try and go out and fly at least monthly just to improve my flying skills. Lastly, the integrity of your reporting whereas you are absolutely consistent in your mission statement about this being an info channel about S/Y's not the clients or people. I suspect that is why the other 250K subscribers keep coming back as well. I have no interest into social media noise about the rich and famous....but, you have opened this world just about S/Y's which is really interesting...Plus, E-Man, you are really entertaining in front of the camera and have an un-matched wardrobe for your drops. Bravo!
There's a video of Eclipse where the crew use a radio jamming gun to bring down a drone they feel is flying too close. (Using a jammer is probably highly illegal, especially with other aircraft flying around).

I think you handled that very professionally. Never get rattled or let the EGO take over, that would have been a disaster. Well done Amigo. Rock
Well done 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼! Didn't get into trouble and didn't give up the footage. My blabbermouth in the same situation would have probably said, "My NDA only stops me from filming the yacht that I work on, so there 😛 !" and would have landed myself in trouble 😄.
Very glad you chose not to argue the point with Skat's Captain. It was a mute point and you lived to fight another day. Good on you.
The Drone is lovely. Fascinating footage. Thanks for updates. Beautiful boats.
Thought for sure they'd be flying the Cross and Skullbones Flag.
Oh, well.
Take care rockin' the Truman Show, eSysman.
Everyone's not as honest and decent as you.
Thank you!
It's skull, and crossbones🤣
@@ralgor100 Thanks ~ was trying to confuse the Al-gore-rythms, but glad you knew what I meant. 👍
Aleays enjoy your experiences. Havikg grown up in Samoa, id always head to the dock whenever a ship or large boat would come in. And, being only 12 years old, I would somehow end up getting a board! Being landlocked now, i reslly look forward to your stories as they bri g back many memories of the ocean and the beautiful vessel's on it!
Give some folks a little bit of power and they turn into Benito Mussolini....
@@stefanfrankel8157 I can't remember. How did things end up with dear Benito? 😉
If it was KCIII, eggs would have been thrown and photos deleted by Palace security! Yes, that happened.
Always good to have a duplicate memory card you can swap out at any time...
Wow! I hope the shooters were VERY careful about where those rounds were going to hit (after missing the drones).😮
@paton57 Oh, like bird shot? That would be less dangerous than slugs or buckshot, yes?
Nobody should be invading your privacy like that however the destruction of an aircraft is considered a federal crime. The FAA and the NTSB consider all types of drones as aircraft, therefore protecting them under this law. This applies to all drones, whether they are used commercially or recreationally.

I did enjoy this vid quite a bit since it's "off-track" from your normal posts. I'd like to see more!
Lurssen got their start building navy vessels. IIRC, Carinthia VI was based on a fast coastal patrol boat hull that Lurssen was producing at the time.
such a great story. Please tell more of these.
Great story... glad to see you having the last best laugh !! "He who laughs last,..... "
Interesting and fun recollection of events,
eSysman is super bada$$!! From telling the Russian's he's gonna keep filming when they threaten him to downloading his footage before security shows up lol! That's James Bond level precision! Love it! :) - que 007 theme -
Love this type of content. So interesting. You could certainly infuse the regular news and spot content (which is also great) with a bit more stories from your many years in the business, I'm sure you have plenty. Thanks for your efforts, much appreciated.
Situation handled with diplomacy and tact as usual. 👍
I would also like to see more material on non-traditional non-conventional ships that have been converted to yachts.
Seems like you mentioned something on one episode about a smaller cruise ship that had been converted to a yacht.
I really like your scale models behind you
All beach is considered public places at least across EU and in the US, and anybody can film in public places.
This ain't the EU or the US. The rest of the world doesn't have this weird sense of freedom you love so much.
@@martinkobimbo8090 Bahamas have similiar rules.
@@martinkobimbo8090 Have you ever heard of copyright laws? It seems you're ignorant of them.
I think you handle it perfectly!
The down loading of the SD card was brilliant!!
No need to bring unnecessary attention to yourself! 👍
That is a beautiful yacht, It's nice to see one that doesn't look like all the others, I wish the captain of that yet would allow you to do a video of the yacht, If I worked on that yet I would be very proud. Very interesting yacht.
Really enjoyed this story. Thanks for sharing. And yes, you did nothing wrong.
Very good back story. I appreciate your perspective.
Great story! thanks*
There's great value in people like you who can point us in the direction of people like...............
Walkin' the tightrope! Well done.
I tell you what though mate from your first day out with a drone filming a yacht this is pretty damn good footage. Even if it is a little bit cheeky and close. But still cracking work for your first time! You must’ve realised at this point you had a future in it!
Thumbs up for your presentation
I remember reading about both those boats, yes they definitely have gotten mixed up with military vessels more than a few times. Both are gorgeous, I couldn’t imagine the fuel costs for any of them 😁
Interesting stuff, thanks for sharing. enjoy
Absolutely one of the BEST sea tales you've told to us by this time. You stood up to "the powers that be" admirably. That yacht, "Skat," looked a lot like one of their Lurssen OPVs, similar to the ones operated by the Bahamians!
You must have many more "tales from the seven seas"... Please let us have more!!!! Fantastic!
Very interesting as always. Totally understandable that the SKAT Captain would be looking out for his people and job. He really didn't know what you had filmed particularly but would want to keep any information from being released.
Except he didn't really have any right to do that, but sure.
@@corail53 You would be REALLY upset by the Whole new world of "Karens"! It's entitlement on steroids! LOL!
Great video and very interesting. Thanks for all of the outstanding content on your channel!
That was a Skatastic video 😊😊.
Fun story. Thanks for sharing
Billionaires: buy huge conspicuous vessel that can be seen from a mile away
Also Billionaires: dont look at my vessel, i bought it for privacy
LoL
Governments want and need proximity and use private sources to hide in plain sight.
You are supposed to look at it, but not into it.
Formatted SD cards are easily recoverable. Sandisk even offers a free utility, but software like R-studio can do a much deeper scan in the case of corruption/damage etc...
Luckily they didn’t know that.
That Ship is really Really Cool. I love it.
People like me have no other source of insight into this world, please do more videos like it!
Great story, beautiful ship that does emulate a naval vessel.
I occasionally come across your posts and always find them interesting.
Always interesting everything you put out
Another good video ⛵️🚤🛥⭐️⭐️⭐️👍👍👍👏👏👏
You did nothing wrong I think you went about it the right way you also understand how important privacy is to the owners
I love your stories amigo. Well done! 🥂
Good story
Nice story!
I'm guessing you now keep a blank SD card in your pocket...just in case.
Having done a law degree, I also experienced people manipulating the law, or trying to, for their own benefit. I’ve enjoyed setting them straight and securing financial compensation for their insolence!
Eye´s and Ears in Every Port!
I like your shirt 👕. It reminds me of the Wiliams F1Team 🏎🏁
Skat is a regular visitor to Guernsey on their way to and from Northern Europe. They like to anchor off the island of Herm, a little piece of the Caribbean in our waters.
You were totally in the "right". Awesome post!
excellent story! keep them coming.😎👍
(Using a jammer is probably highly illegal, especially with other aircraft flying around).
yep
loved this Skat story!!! I liked the explanation of both sides of the rules etc regarding your position. appreciated... I posted this video on twitter....
Love the story. I am a fan of this style yacht. This yacht and Nord. Nord is my favourite
I like the way you stood your ground but weren't an asshole about it. I dislike it when people attempt to assert their "rights", and accomplish nothing but a big stink and hard feelings.
Pick your battles, and walk away quietly, holding your ace card up your sleeve.
Great video.
Great story, great to see companies using the channel for sponsorship
Great video, thanks
I would not be at all surprised if some of the Super Yachts are equipped with surveillance equipment or are transporting classified cargo. Until I found your channel, I had no concept of the community of Super Yacht owners and their very secretive nature. Even to the point of hiding the actual owners identity. It's a perfect scenario for clandestine activity.
When you got $,$$$,$$$ seams like laws do not apply to you... That sucks but oh well such is life. I presume that is why the rich keep teams of lawyer's on speed dial LOL.
@@jonathanbair523 They guy with the best lawyer wins. Never mind all that "justice for all" and "fair trial" rhetoric.
But I was referring to a more select group of yacht owners that are actually government agents of this or that country. What better place to hide than among a of people that are secretive by nature and commonly travel port to port all over the world? Very few, if any questions are asked about why or why not as long as the required credentials are in order. Is the guest listed as Sammy Something the person he claims to be?
I would think that the percentage of this type of activity would be small but environment would certainly lend itself to it.
Alfa Nero appeal was heard last week with no outcome, the court will make a decision in December, so its stuck in Antigua for a lot longer yet

I just did a quick internet search for information about regulations applicable to the commercial operation of small unmanned aircraft systems in the Bahamas, and it looks like they are even more restrictive than here in the U.S.! I wouldn't have blamed you if you had decided it wasn't worth the trouble (if you did indeed comply with the Bahamian regulations). Your video turned out beautifully!
