I have an idea for fixing Rhys' character going forward. Let's just say that the surgeon who changed his voice accidentally messed up Rhys' brain a bit during the operation. Then after a couple of years, his brain swelling finally goes down and he gets better by the time of Borderlands 4.
Everyone already understands that B3 was a horrible story but I don't hear many people discussing how bad of a letdown it was after the cliffhanger at the end of the pre sequel, I think we were all expecting some final instalment type material, some "return of the king" vibes. Then they gave us Ava "Figure it out gearbox!"
For real. Glad I played tales before BL3. Vaughn was funny in 3 but they cut out a lot of his characterization. But I do like the story line of weird nerd that turns to feral bandit. Then it's a shame with Rhys all around.
So you’re telling me Fiona got a bobble head worth billions of dollars and I’m expected to believe she is able to sell it to a nice honest person on Pandora?!?
NGL I feel like the Atlas SMG that Sasha has would be worth as much or close enough since all old Atlas guns were useless due to Brickware program but her gun. A still usable vintage Atlas weapon like that would be worth a ton I assume. On top of whatever loot they were able to pick up and split from The Travelers destroyed remains.
I don't see why they found it hard to justify Gaige being the wedding planner. Pretty sure Gaige and Hammerlock are friends, he could have told her before proposing and she got overly excited and started planning it, with Hammerlock enjoying her ideas.
Honestly, I feel they should've had a book set after New Tales explaining where Sasha went, why she prevented anyone from following her trail. I feel setting this book just after the first Tales, but before Borderlands 3 wasn't the right move. It would've been better to actually focus on the original Tales gang coming back together, to find where Sasha went. Maybe even Fiona lost track of where Sasha went when they both became full on Vault Hunters and she and Rhys team up once more to find clues to her whereabouts. Really hope they give that plot point some sort of continuation one day.

I BOUGHT THE BOOK! It was alright! Anthony Burch was clearly limited in what he could write due to the state of the series at this point of time, but it gives lots of answers!!!
I read the book completely different. Fiona's entire purpose wasnt about money in this book, it was about protecting Sasha. The money would allow them to live the stable life they so desired. She never wanted to be a vault hunter, she never wanted to be rich, she just wanted to be normal. Fiona frequently criticises Sasha for her money spending problems throughout the book. Its Sasha whos obsessed, if anything. She's the one who bought the mansion, she's the one who conjured the idea of selling the Vault Lander figure. Fiona is trying to move on with her life, while Sasha slowly starts to miss the chaos and begins to seek it out, which is why i think they added Gaige to be a sort of lesson for Sasha, to not take everything for granted. The book was good, IMO. I think its easy to criticize Borderlands because of it's reputation, but i also think we should try finding the good where we can. I recommend reading it, its fun, and answers lots of questions.
It goes against almost everything they did in Tales from the Borderlands. You are trying to find the good in it which is fine, but If you have to overlook all the bad Things and retcons to enjoy a Borderlands Story then I dont know what to tell you
@@FloundFahrdienst I also think Anthony Burch was quite limited in what he had to write, so despite the limitations I still think it was good for what it was. It was very millennial humour imo, but humour is subjective so I wouldn't really say that's a flaw, just a personal gripe I have. The whole vaultlanders thing feels so painfully forced into the series, and it could've definitely gone without the Vaultlanders storyline. I also feel like Borderlands has lost the plot, completely forgetting what it was about--- the Vaults. So far, everything we have seen about the Vaults have been underwhelming, and this book was 100% guilty of this, and it definitely feels like a punch in the face for fans who have been waiting so long to find out what happened to their favourite characters. So that's the criticism I have. But the general flow of the story was nice. I think my main issue with his "review" was that it seemed to overlook a lot of the key points, and didn't really care to look deeper into what was happening. It seems like he went into this book expecting to hate it. I was just trying to balance out this video by adding my personal opinion, to let people know it wasn't all that bad.
Personally I think Sasha is either dead or very badly injured instead of being missing. When Rhys talks about if he's ever been in love in Borderlands 3 he just responds with "I'm kinda sad now". I don't believe there's ever actually a name mentioned during the echo log where he's looking for someone and during New Tales he specifically mentions that he could ask Fiona for a new picture of Sasha, *if he can find Fiona*. Aside from this, Rhys not only mentions that he knows what the anahadium shard is, but that he also had a very big personal investment in finding it. And Fiona is seen alone at the end of new tales talking to Markus and actively looking for the shard that can bring people back to life. Again I could be, and probably am, very wrong and theres probably something i missed that disproves it but that's just my theory based on what I've seen in the games.
I dont think she's dead, and that's why Rhys feels sad about being in love, i think it's supposed to be him, maybe feeling like his relationship with Sasha is one of unrequited love. At the end of the new book, weirdly enough, it's Fiona who tells Rhys that Sasha is in love with him-- which is very weird. Earlier in the book, Sasha does talk to him about their relationship, but she tells him she's not ready or something like that. Rhys is absolutely in love with her but she is just missing, out there doing her thing, and that's why he's sad. It's awful that Zer0 tells him that's there's no way to find someone who doesn't wants to be found. In other words he probably feels like he got ghosted at an interplanetary level.
If BL4 has fiona and sasha as vault-hunters, I wouldnt be opposed. I think their action skill could be cooperative, allowing the player to be able to switch back and forth between the two having stacked inventory space for both. Idk, just a thought.
I know Rhys gets a lot of flak for his portrayal in BL3, its not as nuanced as his original debut, but I still seriously love him as a character and his entire plot line in BL3.
You know what would be absolutely nutty? If Rhys, Vaughn, Fiona and Sasha WERE ALL the four playable characters in borderlands 4. It's total fanfiction but think about it.... Rhys with advanced technology, Fiona with cunning and athletics, Vaughn could bulk up to be a fearless Tank and Sasha who has been touch by the shard MIGHT make her a possible siren candidate. I think it's warrants a "what if" scenario at least. Id pay to see fan art / concept art of this.
Gaige, in her BL3 DLC, jokes she's busy "disappointing her parents", when she shows up at her crash site. I thought that meant her dad was still alive.
Honestly my faith on the Gearbox writing team faltered after BL3, especially when the DLCs had such better stories. But after what they did to Rhys & the plot in New Tales? That faith died. Now the movie is coming out & that looks like it was cobbled together by people who barley have an idea what the franchise is. This book is just another disappointment.
Wasn't Gaige's bounty set by Hyperion and Jack though? I believe they were so high because Jack became a multi trillionaire after creating e-tech weaponry

When you know the executive behind the publisher. It makes perfect sense on why these characters got assassinated with shitty writing. Big boss has "big ideas" and think he can write a really good "borderlands game" and... you see echoes of his psychotic ideology splattered across the theming. When before... it was literally the main antagonist of every game.
I wanna know how they got to drop no gauge and how do you destroy death trap? That’s crazy and I can’t be the only person to notice that Reeses new voice sounds like the one brand in a jar from the old world blues, DLC in fallout new Vegas
In my opinion on Reese's wish I think he was wishing for more absolute confrontations yes he had the deed he was still technically a nobody a lot of other companies could have just constantly absorbed him without them even trying I think what he wished for when you wish for Atlas was more so to make sure to get a bit of a buffer so you can have enough time to actually get on his feet I have a proper stand when it was time to deal with those bottles not straight up wish for I want Atlas since he's still technically owned Atlas with the deed
I refuse to believe New Tales of the Borderlands is canon. It massacred several characters and got everything else so horribly wrong that it looks like people who hated and/or never played Borderlands were given the reins and funding to make a major Borderlands game.
It’s better to just leave tales’ story right where it ended, it’s better to have the idea that we would never know what happened to Rhys, Fiona or the rest of the cast, because if this is the story that continues it, than I don’t want it.
Few things depress me More than how dirty characters are done in this series. Also ur goddamn right Vault Hunting should be more lucrative. From dead guy loot and selling gear to literal vending machines that can pop up in places where humans haven't stepped in centuries about 3 days work would set anyone up for life
With the massive decline in the quality of the stories lately, I'm not sure I even want anything else from the Borderlands franchise at this point. If all they're gonna give us is this crap, just stop making stuff. I'd rather see it end than continue to be a shell of its former self.
Nooo, I wish this book didn't exist now. I wanted Fiona's story to be more than that, but poop... I wished none of these Tales from the Borderlands were touched. Oh well, at least Loaderbot and Gortys are safe from more writing?
What the hell happened??? Did they steal the ideas of the actual person who made the first TFTB good and then fire them? So from that point forward all their stories became garbage because they thought their success from their theft led to a misinterpretation of their actual abilities, which are garbage? So they only produced garbage stories in all the future games, and this book apparently
I really hope if they bring Fiona and Sasha back for BL4, they stick with Fiona being the love interest, cause Sasha's personality was annoying in my personal opinion.
Rhys is my favourite from the first Tales game!

I think my main issue with his "review" was that it seemed to overlook a lot of the key points, and didn't really care to look deeper into what was happening. It seems like he went into this book expecting to hate it. I was just trying to balance out this video by adding my personal opinion, to let people know it wasn't all that bad.

Waah an upload! Miss your voice and videos !
Vaughn turned into Captain Underpants and became a comic relief character that only 5 year olds could laugh at.
Who is still playing Borderlands to this day?!
I am! (Borderlands 2 mostly) 😊
Welcome back dude!
Gaige, in her BL3 DLC, jokes she's busy "disappointing her parents", when she shows up at her crash site. I thought that meant her dad was still alive.
Why do ghouls eat only organic food?
Because its super natural
Honestly my faith on the Gearbox writing team faltered after BL3, especially when the DLCs had such better stories. But after what they did to Rhys & the plot in New Tales? That faith died. Now the movie is coming out & that looks like it was cobbled together by people who barley have an idea what the franchise is.
This book is just another disappointment.
NOO! NOT GAIGE! Her story was perfect!!
LETS GOOOOO I'VE I LOVE UR BORDERLANDS VIDEO SO MUCH GLAD U MADE ANOTHER ONE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK BRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
“Billionaires who control everything and commoners who are slaves to debt” - you sure you’re not talking about USA? 😂
*the entire world.
I mean, borderlands is meant to be a satire of real life soooo
There should be a story to set up Stapleface and LOU13 as vault hunters
I can’t believe they did Gaige dirty like that. Captured multiple times? Why do they make her seem so weak and pathetic?
Wasn't Gaige's bounty set by Hyperion and Jack though? I believe they were so high because Jack became a multi trillionaire after creating e-tech weaponry
But what happened to shade from borderlands 2 Captain Scarlet dlc
Just waiting here for the sad Borderlands The Movie review, will it come?
The return arc
I remember you saying torgue or however you spell his name wasn’t in charge of torgue anymore but it’s him sending you the mail in bl3 which is in direct connection to the company. If he wasn’t apart of the company why would he be sending mail to the vh
Headcanon..after the thanksgiving DLC in BL2 he blew up the entire board of directors with a HUGE F##KING EXPLOSION and took back his company in the MOST BADASS way possible!!!
@@user-jf4lt4uk7u this is also my headcannon now thank you for this lmaoooo
its because they wanted a full female lead on every front of borderlands which is why almost everything suddenly turn female cernriuc excluding gaiges dad and the senor of the hollow family.
When you know the executive behind the publisher. It makes perfect sense on why these characters got assassinated with shitty writing. Big boss has "big ideas" and think he can write a really good "borderlands game" and... you see echoes of his psychotic ideology splattered across the theming. When before... it was literally the main antagonist of every game.
cant wait for the new borderlands timeline
That's so funny, I haven't watched you in a while and exactly yesterday I decided to check out your new tales video, and now, boom, new upload. :)
I wanna know how they got to drop no gauge and how do you destroy death trap? That’s crazy and I can’t be the only person to notice that Reeses new voice sounds like the one brand in a jar from the old world blues, DLC in fallout new Vegas
How are they going to retcon that New Tales garbage
Yeah I think the people at gearbox needs to change everything with new tales or maybe they just tell people to pretend that it never happened.
There not retconning it. It’s part of the story now.
@@riveracrobat01 well it's shit
@@riveracrobat01 well it's stupid
Will you review the Borderlands movie?
He most likely will!
Imagine if Jack got this Vault
Nice I actually want to know what happened to the characters from the tales of the borderlands
They got character assassinated by the writers of borderlands 3 it was borderline creative malpractice. The end.
Revive Maya with the shard.
Hey, I got a question. Are you going to do a video on borderlands 4
Dude where are you.... The Movie is.... I cant breath... They Fed Up!...
Read the comments, stopped the video, I don’t wanna know
In my opinion on Reese's wish I think he was wishing for more absolute confrontations yes he had the deed he was still technically a nobody a lot of other companies could have just constantly absorbed him without them even trying I think what he wished for when you wish for Atlas was more so to make sure to get a bit of a buffer so you can have enough time to actually get on his feet I have a proper stand when it was time to deal with those bottles not straight up wish for I want Atlas since he's still technically owned Atlas with the deed
I refuse to believe New Tales of the Borderlands is canon.
It massacred several characters and got everything else so horribly wrong that it looks like people who hated and/or never played Borderlands were given the reins and funding to make a major Borderlands game.
Fucking finally you made a video on this.
Didn't Reece get a paper from Jack's office so that hed own Atlas?
It’s better to just leave tales’ story right where it ended, it’s better to have the idea that we would never know what happened to Rhys, Fiona or the rest of the cast, because if this is the story that continues it, than I don’t want it.
I thought the assassin FROM the bl2 Craw dlc WAS Marcie's dad?
Few things depress me More than how dirty characters are done in this series. Also ur goddamn right Vault Hunting should be more lucrative. From dead guy loot and selling gear to literal vending machines that can pop up in places where humans haven't stepped in centuries about 3 days work would set anyone up for life
New Tales never happened
It was a bad dream
I refuse to acknowledge its existence
In surprised you haven't said anything about the Borderlands movie.
Seems like imma play B2 and tales forever 😂
Rhys and Fiona aren't required to be their best selves. Leave em be.
The corporates war were wasted, it should have been bigger
Wtf ??? They destroyed death trap and captured Giage, the vault hunter who brought down Handsome jack ? LMFAO
What a trash story.
Oh well, at least Loaderbot and Gortys are safe from more writing?
changing out rhys's og voice actor was a huge mistake.
Fuck yeah 😢
I loved borderlands debt or alive. It had a lot of things I actually hoped for.
Tho Borderlands franchise really sinked
They did alot dirty rhys and vaughn
When are you re-doing the timeline? It'd be really cool to have it to show just how awful the movie is lore-wise lol
Honestly the only thing I liked about New Tales was the Vaultlander figures.
And the robot bounty hunter guy was pretty cool actually
W borderlands content
Characters cannot act in ways that their authors cannot conceive.
Somebody PLEASE give me the outro song 😭
It's more like a delusional dream of a person with a temperature of 39 + Celsius.
