Yep you’re right I’ve been looking for over three months for this great movie of mine from the days of the ANA when I was a little boy in the great city of Detroit Michigan wow I’m so excited peace and blessings I’m alive and Kickin love you Praying for you all...
As a millennial, I never saw this movie until yesterday. It was touching because the same concepts in culture in America in dating in 1960 still apply in 2023. Nothing really change other than technology. This was a great film because I realized how people were back then to compare to today.
However, there is a clear logical void in the film's plot. C. C. Baxter spends the whole film courting Miss Kubelik who however is in love with Mr. Sheldrake. That instead he only wants her as her lover. But then when Baxter decides to face Sheldrake he prefers the promotion he offers him. It's illogical.
@@duebraccia It's not illogical. We know from the start of the movie that he's a pushover, and that he's willing to put up with a lot for his job and the promise of getting promoted. Of course he's in love with Miss Kubelik, but people don't change so easily. He accepts the promotion because it's what he's been working for this whole time, it fits the way he's always lived his life, and he thinks that having a higher position will help with winning over Miss Kubelik in the long run. He doesn't realize that he loves her more than anything else until he gets the final promotion and gives up his job. Before that point, the job clearly came first, even if he didn't quite realize it.
@@ThermiteKitty You are definitely right. I hadn't thought about it at all. Maybe I'm conditioned by today's happy ending films. But evidently for Wilder things were not so obvious. I felt betrayed when the protagonist chose career over love. But it's true as you say: men prefer careers. And today it seems that women prefer it too ahahahahaha....thank You very much.
@@duebraccia its not illogical at all. even right after overdosing she makes it CLEAR she still loves Sheldrake - at this point CC just gave up on his love for Fran and just accepted the promotion
@@sanzo21 I don't think so. When CC goes to Sheldrake is to tell him that he loves Fran and that he wants to marry her. He doesn't yet know that Sheldrake is getting a divorce. Thank you Sanzo.
This was a great trailer but it didn't even hint at the sad part of the story - what the apartment was used for! In the old days my mom would have called Fred MacMurray's character a louse! 'The Apartrment" won the Oscar for Best Picture in 1961. Jack Lemmon years later in an AFI interview said 'The Apartment' was not a comedy - he said it was a drama, "a serious film!"
I love Jack Lemmon. T hey don't make them like that anymore. I love Shirley Maclaine. She's so cute! Top 5 movies of all time!!! I love Dr Dreyfus! A must see movie at least 3 times ❤
0:08- Good, don't take advice from the Cinema Snob, unless you want to make a movie about clowns and cannibals. 0:58- Why do these 1960 trailers always assume that I've never seen them like this? I have seen Jerry Lewis act silly, and I've seen Grumpier Old Men. 1:14- Yes, he has a look that says "Those teenagers better keep their hands off my Mercedes!" 2:02- No clue on violence to the head though, Like Yul Brenner did in Once More With Feeling.

Just rented this at the library after hearing them discuss it on Mad Men.
I hope he cleaned that racket.
1:45 Remember when we had reusable milk bottles? Instead of throwing away single use polyethylene contraptions every single day? Makes me sick

I just watched , its awesome
Amazing how dated this trailer seems now. It would be too corny today.
Прекрасный фильм.Смотрела давно и сейчас пересмотрела с удовольствием.Шедевры не стареют.Актеры постарели.Кое-кого уже нет в живых.Такова жизнь.
one of the best movies of all time
I'm watching now for the first time...I love it! They don't make movies like this anymore
Boa noite, um clássico dos bons filmes. Adorei o vídeo.
this is not even a trailer. it's about the actors. rather than the script
Great movie
⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2. This is a movie that every woman who is or has been involved with a married man should watch.
