Full agreement with ya regarding Saw warm-up ... minimum of one minute if not a bit more - should let everything get up to “cutting temp” lotta guys esp in construction fire em up cold start and then wide-open , can get cold seizure on piston as it’s receiving the business end of combustion and will expand quicker than the bore ... As far as tuned tubes go - yea no doubt they work ! Better throttle response , quicker revs and a quicker cut thru the timber !... good to see someone experimenting with this concept - YOU do it and YOU have the knowledge, just like the chain yappers and their micrometers ! Lotsa power in these 2-stroke saws left on the table from the factory ... on the carb side I’ve found a tuned-intake can help almost as much as the exhaust with more powa ! It’s like a symphony and if you can get the orchestra all in sync look out my man ! It’s like you’re getting a “ram-effect” of air / fuel ... I agree with your statement about some guys and their “porting secrets” , “intellectual property “ angle and I call hogwash in that ... Guess some guys try to make a living porting saws (???) and charge dearly for their know-how especially the guy out on the west coast from the land of fruits and nuts lol ! I do my own saws and it’s fun, educational and makes the job go so much quicker than running a stocker ! A Dyno “wood” be the ticket for sure
Good fun, just got done building my first hotrod exhaust for my 181se . So far its fast, definitely leaned out the saw. Gotta do a little tuning. Enjoying buckin videos old and new.
Buckin, they’re some fine powersaw’s, beautiful just beautiful. How’s everyone doin? Hope everyone’s having a great weekend with their families and friends. Love and kindness to all. Be safe. ❤️❤️❤️
Good sounding saws for sure and I’m going to have to agree with Hogan on that one. Can’t wait to see the big kids one out to play! Love to you and the family❤️
What a great way to wake up, a top video to start my day. I love your videos because I always get the feeling from them you are talking to us individually. Welcome to the new subs enjoy the videos and be kind to one and all.
I ENJOYED this one. That Mac was making good music. I just cleared about two chords of oak from my neighbors yard using two different 1-50s, and two 10-10s. The yard is on a lake and the echo of those howling macs was pretty nice.
Love the bolt ons not everyone can afford a full power saw fully ported ..these bolt ons are great for not to much money ...your honestly an inspiration to me and alot of people on this channel I love your vids keep them coming one heck of a guy
Great video Buckin, two strokes are great to tune, but easily overdone resulting in poor results, I used to tune Yamaha rd250 and 350 lc’s in the late 80s, they were amazing engines but sensitive to over working the ports, I still use the same principles when I tune my saws, and still reap great results, air/ fuel mix in efficiently and exhaust out efficiently, get the compression and ignition right and your off, but remember to maintain back pressure to an extent. Hope your all good. .... 👍🏴😁
Yup them RDs & LCs were real fast apparently there's a cult following of the LCs nowadays? I had a Yamaha YDS7 250 air cooled that was before the RDs it was a screamer alright but not as much fun as the old YZ 400, wiseco racing piston & all that reminiscent madness lol. Love it 💪❤️👍
Bear claws muffler sounds wicked on that 394 ,hope you and the family are well take care my friend love buckin army live life as simple as you can make it have a great weekend
All you need to do now, is bring out a V8 power saw. My guess is it would go through the bigger log in about 4 seconds. My dad was a faller, for about 20 years, in his younger days, in the West Kootenays. He started in the late 40's when he was 18. Once in a while I ask him about his logging days. As a kid, I only heard him call the saw a power saw. Even now, when he talks about his logging days, he still calls it a power saw.
Love the racing its so cool to see the old macs damn near keepin pace its just great hope everyone is well been super busy in Wisconsin love from Wisconsin Benny
Hey Buckin', IMHO, the 125 runs very well, but that 394 is just in a league of its own. A heart felt good evening to the True Blues and all of my fellow Soldiers of Kindness. I hope everyone is having a great weekend, I sure am. Welcome to all the new subscribers. Don't get the wrong impression about Ole Buckin' from this video. He's only a total nut bar part of the time. . . . LOL. Love and blessings to everyone here.
Ive repaired many engines and the engines need back pressure for a reason some restrict the power to prevent the engine overheating and wearing out too quick . as if its runs on higher revs than what set. it might not get the lubricant and wear or seeze . These companies dont spend many of hundreds of thousends of dollers or pounds to get less performance . Its the old story the exhorsts rusts and holes and you get better power. But if you need more power and less engine life then go for it its a ballence . Hope this makes sence
Buckin do you think you can get a new chain sharper than the original? That would be a cool video! Two new chains, one right out the box, the other right out the box with your personal filing touch. And full tilt boogey them!
Most guys who cut for a living have no problem bettering a factory edge since the factory edge is set up to cut in all types of wood on all types of saws. So I'm confident that he can fine tune a chain for the wood and saw he's cutting with to beat a factory ground chain :).
Stumbled upon your vidz, great content and awesome spirit!! You make me want to be better as a person! Also I’m into power saws and love felling trees!
Hey buckin hows things your really inspirational to me at the moment, I’ve been 8 days in hospital after getting crushed in a felling accident. The videos are keeping me sane they won’t let me have power saws in hospital😫😂, I’m really grateful for life and all the amazing people in this world. Be kind stay strong !!! Love the 372 exhausts both the stock box and the dual pipe some fine craftsmanship would love to try one on my 365 when I’m better.
TheAutisticArborist, glad your accident didn't take you from us. Buckin's story about his accident and recovery might be helpful to you so you know there is life after this. Enjoy all of Buckin's video's while you're recovering as they 're educational and entertaining too ( Hogan calls them edutainment). Welcome to the channel and my prayers go to you and you family.
Good stuff! Great fun!👍👍 Now if you want to, I personally like to make 3 or so cuts an take an average, that way if you make a mistake it evens out. Also dogging in can mess with cut times as well I know you're mostly having fun, taking things too seriously can ruin that.✌❤ And I bet you couldn't even load up the old Mac without leaning on her lol.💪
I know this video is several months old, but I think the noise you were hearing at idle on that one saw is a dry sprocket roller bearing. I had the same issue with my old blue XL-12 recently. There wasn't a drop of grease in the bearing.

Wouldn't you need to retune for different style of muffler
Caleb Willhelm yea that is what needs to be done to see a true performance difference.
Yes, the one that has less back pressure will run leaner, that could produce more power but at the risk if nipping it up unless you re-tune it.
