Treason has a very specific definition, which outlines a very specific type of crime, for which the guilty face the ultimate punishment.
You start getting squirrelly with that at your own peril.

Because the U.S. Constitution defines what is considered "Treason"

If you think that letting those that are seeking asylum as "giving aid", then you need to remember that by law we must do that since we signed the 1951 Convention Treaty that requires us to do so. And if you think we shouldn't follow the treaty, the Constitution states in Article VI Clasue 2...
"This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any ..."
The Trump administration was beaking international law and U.S. law....so if you think that we should break a treaty and forget the Constitution, then you are not American, and if you think that people that are seeking saftey within our borders as "enemies"..well, you are just a horrible person.

And because the DOJ is part of the administrative branch. Congress would have to pass a law to get the administration to enforce its will and unless congress has enough votes to override the president's veto, the DOJ is going to do what the president wants, not what congress wants.

The Emmett Till Antilynching Act is a dumb law, considering the fact it is quite possible to "lynch" someone who is of your same race and ethnic background, thus turning "lynching" into a 'hate crime' is beyond dumb.

Republicans have blamed democrats for border problems for decades and then fail to solve the problems.

And a big fing liar. Title 42 suspended title 8 laws and authority use to deter and penalize illegal border crossing. The Right was using it to undermine legal asylum under 8 US code 1158. It also suspends 8 US code 1325; the misdemeanor that carries a civil penalty for crossing the border illegally. And 8 US code 1326; stiffer penalties for crossing the border.
That leaves out any legal penalty or deterrent for those crossing and stops legal asylum, with few exceptions under title 42. Makes it difficult to enforce immigration laws when Republicans are fighting in court to undermine our legal enforcement. With title 42 suspending enforcement that means many immigrants recross multiple times causing apprehension numbers to be inflated. The current rate of multiple returns is about 40% of border crossers.
We had a 17 year decline in southern border crossing to the lowest point in 50 years prior to Trump and his polices. By 2019 Trumps policies doubled the number of people crossing the southern border to 977,000. He only saw a reduction for the first 9 months of 2020 due to covid, before it went back to a 20 year monthly high in October of 2020. It has remained a 20 year high and increasing ever since under Trumps failed policies and Title 42.
