The 1980's And It Will Never Ever Gets Older.
The transition from the 80s into the 90s was already happening here. (especially with R&B).Billboard's new at the time digital soundscan to tabulate the charts were in full effect and the 90s sounds were in their infancy trying to figure itself out. The top 20 here still had an 80s feel, yet by the end of the year the changes would be more noticeable. (a similar thing happened in my opinion with 1982 as a transition year between the 70s and the 80s).
Yeah I would say 1992 was the transition year from the 80s to the 90s, by 1993, it was definitely the 90s.
It has nothing to do with this video. How do you see the transition of the 2020s? Do you think the sound of this decade has already started in 2023? or are there still residues from the 2010s?
@nelson conejo .....to be honest, I can't talk about the music of the 2010s and 2020s as I don't have much knowledge about it but only a few exceptions because of the spotlight they received (Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Adele) to mention a few; and someone who's into it may know better. Usually once a decade starts in music it takes a couple of years for it to come into its own. ( The 70s may be an exception; it took a bit longer to come into its own - 1973/74 thru 81). My peak in music was from 1978-1992 or 93 with on and off listening thru 1996-97. By then in my subjective opinion the late 90s were more of the foundation of all the stuff we see in music today (autotune for example). I may argue that the 2000s started in '97-'98. (Again my opinion). We may see 2023 with new music trends, but only time will tell.
According to you, the transition towards the music of the 2000s began around the middle of 1996, beginning the decade in 2002. Thanks for answering. I always read your reviews, they are very interesting.

Well it was a leap year and the music seems to be in limbo. Prince's Diamonds and Pearls is a good example of how all the genres of the time were mixed from the popular styles of the time. It's a great album of the time.

No way that boys room came out in 92 I think 85-86
Smoking in the Boys Room by the Crue was 1985. Home Sweet Home came from that same album but only hit #89 at that time. Home Sweet Home charted in 1991-92 because it was on a Crue Greatest Hits album called Decade of Decadence.
there are songs that i couldn't stand when i was young but now love as an adult due to nostalgia, but michael bolton bucks that sentiment. he's still as cringy as ever 🤮
