    Awesome vid again @ron
    Had my Deluge a few years now, but the 7-Seg always put me off from diving very deep. I used to end up getting lost and frustrated as the pad-shortcut legends were too small for my older eyes (LOL)
    The recent OLED screen upgrade along with the 4.0 firmware has now made this my #1 to rule them all - It is totally amazing what this can do, and you demonstrate so well.
    My MPC One is going, my Pyramid Squarp is going and a few desktop modules that this thing more than covers in most ways I need.
    Anyone on the fence about the OLED upgrade, all I can say is, I think this has made the Deluge miles ahead of anything else in the area - No question
    It's Sooo much easier to use now and feels like its all fully accessible to me - Whereas before, I'd struggle to remember the short-cuts, key-combos or the cryptic scrolling 7-Seg made me dizzy trying to work out what it was saying and remember where I actually was in the menu hierarchy - man I just want to make music :)
    Thank you @rob and #synthstrom for your continued hard works

    Nice demo. I've always found Euclidian rhythm to be a great alternative to swing for creating groove. It's also perfect for drum fills. The features in the 4.0 firmware (the stuff you've shown and the MPE synths and sequencing) have me strongly considering getting a Deluge to replace my Squarp Pyramid.

    When using custom row length, I suppose there is no way to make shorter rows go slower? (so they would stay in sync, but be in a different time division each, for instance if a have a 16-pad row and a 12-pad row taking the same time to play, I'd get a 16:12 polyrhythm)

    • @ywenp

    Hey Ron, Great video can’t wait for more. Can I ask on synth can an individual row / note have an independent direction to the rest of the notes? Or is this only possible in kits?

    • @RonCavagnaro
      @RonCavagnaro  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      only in kits, that's why I only showed that in the kit section. I should've mentioned it's only in kits, sorry about that!

    is there a way to play back each euclidean sequence lane at a different speed ? or is that only achieved by adjusting each individual length ? i’m able to figure how to change each individual length thanks to this video , but i cant it doesn’t seem to be able to change each rows individual speed or at least i cant figure that out . i used to own an old yamaha sequencer that could do that feature and it was really fun to play with . if my question even makes sense i guess , things like that are hard to explain what i mean sometimes.

    Can the euclidean feature be set to exact divisions? Does it depend on your project resolution? Here it snaps to the grid, but it could do microtiming to exactly divide the bar in five notes, for instance. (that's what we usually think when we say "euclidean")
    I know there's a trick to do that with the Deluge (which predates 4.0), using ratcheting on a very low zoom level (so each pad being a bar you ratcheting will put N equally spaced notes in that bar, but that requires your sequence to be at least 16 bars longs else you cannot get to that zoom level), but it's not super convenient.

    • @RonCavagnaro
      @RonCavagnaro  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ahh I forgot to include that! Yes it is dependent on zoom!

    • @ywenp
      @ywenp 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RonCavagnaro You mean the euclidean feature fills the whole clip, not just the current page, and it snaps the triggers to the grid of the current zoom level of the clip?

    • @ywenp
      @ywenp 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok, I tested it and it seems to have this behaviour indeed (so zoom to get the resolution you want, then hold audition pad and turn up/down knob, and the row on the _whole_ clip will be filled. A bit counterintuitive, as most other deluge functions fill only the current page unless Cross-screen is activated)

    Does it seem like a massive oversight that ping pong sequencing repeats the first and final steps? I don't understand the point/benefit of that. Great update overall, kinda scratching my head wondering why it took so long though

    • @postsolarpunk
      @postsolarpunk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's a ton of other things also added

    • @alowhum
      @alowhum 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Generally this is how ping pong is meant to be implemented as it keeps your clips in time. If you don't repeat the steps it means the clip plays one less step each time and will go out of time...which is generally not what people want when they want ping pong. Of course, like anything, some people will always want something different :) but this is how ping pong works best 'musically' speaking.

    • @jdawe390
      @jdawe390 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@alowhum well i stand corrected, that makes sense. in an ideal world both options would be grand

  • @FredF78
    @FredF78 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have realised my brain gets very tired from hearing too randomized patterns as it tries to find the reoccuring pattern, which is rather unlikely. But by just adding some element of stability over time it gets much soothing. I guess polymetric isn't for me :( I end up using this new feature for percussions only, possibly one monosynth but evertything else makes me completely exhausted.

    • @RonCavagnaro
      @RonCavagnaro  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As mentioned , you can do this sparingly so it's not as random.

    • @RonCavagnaro
      @RonCavagnaro  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@FredF78 yes I understand not a problem. It is not for everyone this is true but can add magic to any track if used very little. Watch my demos where I use it, might change your mind? If not, continue to use your own way, these are just tools for the artist.
