    • @tazmon122
      @tazmon122 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@crazycris29 first of all, maybe the largest i've ever worked is 1kcap, but i've been in 2.5kcap, that lighting rig isn't fitting. 2nd the payouts work themselves so everyone gets paid. doesn't matter if they only sell 1/4 the space.
      3rd according to google Alamodome is 64kcap. even at 1/4 sold, that's 16k people. idk how it is in San Antonio, but in Boston, 1 chair equals 3 standing, so despite being a rock n roll act where people wanna get up and move and dance, this is also just on that cusp of boomer and genx where like 80% of the crowd got beer gut and flat ass and smokers lungs and lets be honest are white and middle class so they WANT to sit for 1hr min out of a 3hr show and will complain if they can't. don't matter to the venue, that privilege just goes back into the ticket price, and at least a 30% markup on merch.
      less than 10k people can show up, spend average of $30 parking, $80 tickets, $120 merch, $20 (per person) on alcohol and it's an arena, so $20 food, meanwhile a 2k-5k venue that doesn't have the space or the time needed to set up all that rental shit, $20 for parking, $40 tix, $70 merch, $20 (per person) booze, and maybe $15 per person at the mostly unoccupied cafe attached off to the side, oh, and no seating. the end of the day, playing a mostly empty arena is better business than a packed theater.

Like in a city near me they have a 2,000 person venue, and they have a 30,000 person venue, so to do a 10,000 person event the only option is to partition off the larger venue. Plus then if for some reason they underestimate how many people they could expand it to hold 15,000 instead of 10,000 pretty easily if they had enough lead time.

      If you take a stadium pitch at 75m across, that is no more than 25m end to end. Also, take a look at the floor plan on google images, it’s certainly not “huge”, it’s actually smaller than their indoor arena stage set

    • @TroySwezey
      @TroySwezey 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At the five second point 0:05 we can see a man walking up the stairs. Assume the man has a five-foot arm length. You can then estimate that seven men could stand across the stage fingertip to fingertip, equally 35 feet from edge to edge.
      When Andrew Singh said in this thread that the pitch was 75 meters, he is off a bit. Am American football field is 50 meters (164 feet) from side to side. So, IF that stage is 1/3 the width of the field, that would be 16.666 meters or 54 feet.
      Bottom line, the stage is close to 40 or 50 feet side to side. Certainly not huge, unless compared to a local honky-tonk.

    Amazing when you look at the financials for a tour like this. Some would look at the attendance for this show, which was supposedly only around 9K, which sounds like a bust when you consider they were selling out 70K seat arenas in their heyday. But when you take that against the average ticket price for this concert which was close $100 dollars then they still ended up grossing close to a million bucks for just this one night. Again, amazing

    • @bentleyboy72
      @bentleyboy72 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not just one night (looks to be at least 2 full days if not 3 of setup and tear down) and the band doesn't make anywhere near what the ticket prices add to, that all goes to the venue/concert promoters/ticket procurement website/etc. The most recent data shows Motley Crue is regularly booked for less than 400k per show, minus all their own expenses for the purchase, transportation, and labor associated with setting up the equipment, marketing/advertising, accounting, catering for the whole crew, people responsible for lighting, sound, video, and the dozens of other positions it takes to run an entertainment business. Only after all that is the remaining profit split amongst the band members, managers, agents, producers, record company, etc. Vince Neil probably makes out with no more than 50k a show, the rest of the members likely half that each. I'm definitely not knocking only working 30 nights a year and making 1.5 million dollars (and then even less after taxes), but ultimately what the frontman of a band makes by the end is only a tiny fraction of how much the whole ordeal brings in overall.

      They like it more because they can get so close to the crowd. And there are a lot more "on the rail" spots available, so more people can be right in front. There are tradeoffs though. Like I saw them in 2017 in the round and it sounded like shit. And Big Mick said in an interview before the tour he wasn't psyched on how little PA system they were going to be using because of how heavy their lighting rig was they had to go light on the sound rig, and you could definitely tell it..
