Pretty disappointing to hear that it was just slapped together. I was mildly excited to see it but now I’m not really interested. I’m sure it’s fine but I don’t wanna take a trip to the theater for something that feels slapped together
Disney is just feeding off the corpses of ideas that were developed decades ago (even Moana is almost a decade old), and is more interested in squeezing every last cent out of established franchises than creating anything new and interesting.

I've watched the most recent episode but need to catch up and watch the others, along with the other years. The thing that shocked me the most when seeing it on screen : bad pacing. Apparently they re wrote the movie to fit movie narrative but it has not been rearranged enough. Also, yeah, not growth arc for any character (or not enough impact). The only one who seems showingly grown is Maui (was not a fan in the first movie but damn here he’s my favorite) Also : very bad point for the new trend : Villain baiting. Like, the only actual antagonist we saw in the trailer was the bat lady. And oh no ! She.s not actually evil ! Sure there is actually a bad guy but it‘s like just a teasing for the next movie. What is sad is that alright it got the best theater start since Mario Bros Movie and even beat Frozen 2 , but the satisfaction rating is mid. It’s unfortunately just meh.
I think Disney worked with what they had to try to show that they're making an attempt to return to form. Strange World and Wish bombed really hard, so this movie is kind of a filler to entertain the crowd while they produce better films for the upcoming years. Sure, Moana 2 has forgettable songs, an unclear story and choppy editing (especially during the second song), but I can at least say it was better paced and more tolerable than Frozen 2.
Defending the idea that people are enjoying this "content" is not something to brag about; it's something to be sad about. It's a message to the studios that the new audiences are truly less intelligent and less demanding.
3:04 I noticed this. Those quieter scenes were so boring and not dynamic. It felt cheap, lazy, and awkward to look at on a big screen
At least it's more visually appealing than the Rock cramming himself into a muscle suit for the live-action remake 😂
