I'm underthe impression that both MrTerrific and Wildcat have minor superpowers. Worth mentioning that the Bat Family have the bulk of those super normals.
@@andrewdelgado5159 Wildcat has been told to have 9 lives like a cat. He has admitted to having been killed 3 or 4 times "behind the scenes" and only has 5 or 6 lives left.
Wildcat Ted Grant does not belong on this list. An issue of JLA from the 90s showed him being killed by Quisp, yet another 5th Dimension imp -- only for him to rise seconds or minutes later. It's limited to 9 instances, it appears, but Ted somehow acquired resurrection powers. In other words, Wildcat has (had) nine lives. Obviously, being able to come back from death unaided takes the 'Cat off this list -- regrettably!
Thanks for pointing that out! Wildcat’s “nine lives” twist is such an intriguing part of his story, and I can see how it might change how he fits on a list like this. For me, what stood out most was his legacy as a fighter and mentor, his impact goes far beyond just his abilities. I truly appreciate your perspective; it’s details like these that make discussions like this so engaging 🙂
@nerdhavenworld Also, let's remember that many comics characters are far older than people think. For instance, lots of people know that Superman was introduced in 1938, and some know that the Batman debuted in 1939 -- but how many realize that Robin, the Boy Wonder, first saw newsprint in 1940? That Aquaman is also out of the 40s? I used to be heavily into comics for reasons just like these. Now, though, there's so much history that you have to be a full time scholar of comicdom to keep it all straight!
As a relatively new fan myself, I completely agree with you. There are so many new stories coming out that it’s hard to keep up with everything, not to mention the rich history of comics and heroes that go back so far, many people have no idea just how old some of these origins are!
@@edwinstovall3334 Originally, the multiverse provided an explanation for why some characters are younger than they should be. On Earth-Two heroes started to debut shortly before WWII, while on Earth-One they debuted in the last 1950s, and that's when the transition from Earth-Two to Earth-One. Some of the Earth-Two heroes were younger than they should have been due to an exposure to temporal energy which slowed their aging. Heroes who should have been in their 70s were physically in their 50s.
Wild Cat is type of Immortal. He has nine lives which gets reset on each eclipse. If he gets killed 9 times in between the eclipse then only he can die
Here are the two changes I would make: 1) I’ve just never enjoyed Huntress as a character. It’s just a personal thing. 2) I don’t think you can put Catwoman on a list of heroes. She’s certainly done heroic things occasionally, but to me she will always be one of the bad gals! So who would I replace them on your list with? 1) Red Robin - Tim Drake, the third Robin, has certainly earned his spot on this list. 2) Robin - Damien Wayne, the 4th Robin, belongs here too! He’s especially been adapted in animation really well! Love your other 8!
Great thoughts! Tim Drake and Damian Wayne were indeed missing from this list, but they’ll be featured in part two, which comes out today. Thank you for your comment 😉
Oops, you made a mistake with Wildcat. He does have the superpower of 9 lives, like a cat. He's actually been killed 3 or 4 times but his power of multiple lives has kept him in the fight. The rest of your description about him is fairly accurate though.
My list of best non powered hand to hand hero fighters in the DCU My list, in order, goes like this. Its completely subjective but I will defend it to the death. 1. Batman: I know, I know others are supposed to be better but whenever they really fight, and lives are on the line Batman wins. Superman called him the most dangerous man on Earth. 2. Richard Dragon: He is near the level of Batman and he might technically be a better fighter. 3. Nightwing: Trained by Batman. He has led the Titans, the JLA and the Outsiders and held his own. 4. Bronze Tiger: He is close to Richard Dragon but loses a lot. 5. Lady Shiva: I know she is supposed to be the toughest but every time it really counts against one of the top guys she loses. Batman has taken her out easily twice. Shiva is not a hero but I include her anyway. 6. Connor Hawke: He could be higher but he lacks the killer instinct. 7. Cassandra Cain: She seems to have lost a step while Batman, Robin, Nightwing Black Canary and Green Arrow have gotten better. 8. Guardian: This clone of a WWII legend is a Cap America type and I really like him. I think he is underrated. 9. Judomaster: I don’t know much about him but everyone seems to think highly of him. I doubt if he is dead forever. 10. Azrael: He has beaten a lot of tough guys. He seems to throw himself into fights with little concern for his own safety. 11. Green Arrow: After his recent training he gets an upgrade but still not top ten in hand to hand. 12. Mr. Terrific: I wish some writer would put him in a situation to justify a higher rank. I like to think he should be higher but he has not really beaten anyone yet. 13. Damien (Robin) 14. Jason Todd: Maybe he should be higher but I think in a fair fight all the guys above him would make short work of Todd. 15. Tim Drake: He has been trained by Batman, Shiva and who knows who else.. 16. The Question: I know he has been trained by the best but who has he ever really beaten? His main skill seems to be to take a beating. 17. Huntress: She was kicked out of the League and barely holds her own with the Birds. 18. Arsenal: His main shtick is shooting arrows but he can fight too. 19. Katana: With the sword she would go higher but in hand to hand I image she is pretty good too. 20. Wildcat: He is a tough guy but in the end he is a boxer with limited skills. 21. Blue Beetle: He deserves to be on the list. 22. Dr. Midnight: He lacks that killer instinct. 23. Bushido: He seemed pretty tough in the few times he fought. 24. Bat Woman 25. Peacemaker: 26. Speedy: Tough enough to hang with the Titians.
I loved your list! I’ll be making a part two soon, and I’ll definitely consider it when choosing the 10 characters for the next part. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for your amazing feedback! I’ll be working on a part two and will definitely consider including some of the characters you mentioned. Stay tuned!
Was hoping The Sandman and Adam Strange would be on the list. For me, Terry Sloane is the only Mr.Terrific, not a fan of the modern character. Also thought Dr.Mid-Nite might have been included. 🤔
Red Hood being on a list (and above Barbara and Oliver) is weird. Not only because of his small impact compared to the others or his access to magic, but because of his villainous past. He tried to kill his "brothers" and Selina and blew up a high school. I'd put Tim Drake on a list instead. Similar with Catwoman, I'd put Cassandra Cain instead of her. Nevertheless, it's pretty good video
Thanks for your comments! You make some great points, characters like Tim Drake and Cassandra Cain definitely deserve recognition, and they might just show up in part two 😊
Hey... You forgot about Damian Wayne. Batman's TRUE SON. He was trained by Ra's al Ghul his (Grandfather), Talia al Ghul (His Mother) and BatMan (his Dad). He's no Joke and probably would be at number 2 or 3 on the list. Also Henry Irons has no super powers, but those suits of Armour he creates do pack a punch.
Damien has a super power. His is he power to whine about everything and proclaim he is the greatest when he's nothing but a spoiled brat with daddy plot armor
I can't accept this list. So many of these people are backed by a SUPER HUMAN level of WEALTH and PRIVILIDGE. THAT much money is a super power... even in our world.
Technically the Green Lanterns should be on this list since technically they don't have super powers, they just wield a technologically advanced weapon.
There's some debate on that. Hal Jordan is able generate a Green Lantern Power Ring through his own will power so that might be considered a super power.
You left out the Kung-Fu Masters: Lady Shiva, Richard Dragon (post-crisis), and Bronze Tiger. Sure not heroes but pretty heroic? Red Tornado I -- old school greatness. Basically a female Kick-Ass. Gordon is great. Lois Lane is definitely a heroine in her own right. Blue Beetle II. The Question.
Remo Williams takes Peak Human to new heights being the reigning Master of Sinanju. Technically he has a super power should you happen to kill him. .not even sure if he's aware, but his body is the chosen avatar for Shiva the god of destruction.
Black Canary is an incredible martial artist, widely regarded as one of the best fighters in DC Comics. However, in some of her versions, she also possesses a superpower: the sonic scream.
Because he's a watered-down rip-off who consistently is written to be like Batman. This is why he can't escape from Batman’s shadow. The only thing they haven't done is make him a super genius polymath like Batman. GA is a great character they just have to showcase it instead of making him Batman lite.
