Multilingual packs probably don’t sound like a big deal but when you live in Europe it’s huge. Opens the door and gives us tons of options on where to buy from, knowing I can get English cards in a product I order from Spain, France, Germany etc…
Until you end up having a stack of 100 cards you’re paying for and not using. Try opening a shatter point box and you’ll see just how much is wasted on distribution failings. Like, an amateur kickstarter I backed managed to successfully release multiple language editions printed and sent to various regions. All in one box is laziness.
It blows my mind they didn’t have anything prepared for this. Waiting a year until getting a card pack is ridiculous. This in my opinion should have released with a new essential kit, new cards, and if possible new core sets with enough units to address the new upgrade card to increase size. Also including more dice within the core set.

You can move off of a standby with charge and attack a different unit than the one that caused the standby trigger. “Yes; a unit may perform a free attack action (granted by an eligible keyword) following the free move action granted by the standby token. Such a free attack action does not have any forced declared defender, and as such is not restricted to targeting the enemy unit that set off this chain of events.”
The weirdest thing that I feel few people are talking about is the lack of a new core set. The fact that AMG as of now are selling a core set in which all the cards and most of the core rules book are obsolete without any talk of a new starter is so strange to me.
@@Nintendoggy it's honestly so worth it though. I'd buy a core set and use the DTT army builder app for points, it has been updated already and is a breeze to use. Then the only real difference is using the new online rulebook.

The core rules were more or less the same? I stopped playing as soon as they introduced that though so it may have worsened...
I'm happy with my starwars minis collection. Legion, X-wing and Armada. What an amazing time and Era to be a starwars fan. I for one, am sad that my units are too small for the new edition and will not be buying more to meet those new standards.
The larger units are 100% optional. They are personnel upgrades that take the place of the single trooper upgrade. You don’t need to buy anything else if you have a decent collection and can easily add 200 points to your lists
I will say again. Reducicing Stoormtroopers melee to "make way" for riot troopers is a sign of bad design. I would be ok with it if all most basic core troopers across the board were reduced to white in melee (Rebel Troopers, B1, Pikes) with possible exception of clone troopers. But it is not so.
@piotrskodowski7544 yeah, the idea of ragtag rebel troopers being better than storms in melee is annoying. Even if they had the same dice the stun batons have suppressive to distinguish them

I’ll tell you one thing, after seeing the atrocity that is the artwork of Star Wars Unlimited, if nothing else, the art is phenomenal on the card revisions.
So far I like the change, in fact I would be a lot happier if the just released all of the cards print and play. Make it easier to keep them up to date with constant changes.
The only thing I really like in these changes is range 4 Eweb. I think I will be sticking with the old rules (and FFG los). I only play casual thematic games, so there is nothing forcing me to play the fastest rules. Gonna stick with what I enjoy.
I'm on the fence . There are bits I like and bits I do not like . I'm an X-wing refuge who picked up legion after AMG nuked the game with 2.5 and I'm perfectly happy to keep playing older versions of games so it'll depend on what my group of gaming buddies want to play

I've read through the rules for legion 2.0and they're not terrible but something's (looking at the mission selection/initiative system) are overly complicated just like X-wing . I'll withhold judgement till I've had a chance to play it but I don't think it'll kill the game
I will stand by this statement till the day I die, CIS got the most love from this update. AI is barely an issue, running 14 B1s in a single unit, B2s getting so so SO much love, saber users getting cheaper and Dooku getting surge to block naturally! CIS best faction 2024
It's the art style change that's annoying me the most. Why strip the art from the upgrade cards?! And even the card art that's changed feels sterile compared to the old style
You don’t deploy off the map. Aside from special rules, you don’t deploy at all. Similar to Conquest, when you activate a unit that is not on the map, they move in from the edge anywhere in your deployment zone by putting the movement tool touching the edge of the map and then moving mostly as normal. It’s as if the unit were deployed off the map, but you don’t actually do that.

There was an AMG livestream shortly after the one dropping all these new rules that talked about clones units coming in the (semi) near future. There will be a different unit called Clone Marksmen that are regular clones all equipped with DC-15s, filling a longer range fire support role. The regular Clone Infantry are a more aggressive short range role now Whether that’s a good change or not is up to the individual, but at least the DC-15 isn’t out completely 🙂
i hate the roll to hit roll to wound... i love that legion didnt played like warhammer. i play just with friends and i think we will stick to the old edition for a while
Still digesting a lot of the updates. Won't be able to play the new rules for while sadly. I'm now on the fence with the changes. Some good. Some bad. Some great. Some cringe. My biggest issue with the whole thing is: you're going to update rules, cards and tools immediately and not release the basic stuff at least within a month? A year is WAY too long. Folks will print their own cards and tools on their own and not buy the official stuff. AMG left money on the table and angered more than a few folks just because of that alone. The rest of the updates are all over the board. Also: thraaaaaaawwwwwwnnnnn!
I feel the same , I'm very on the fence . Some good some bad but I can't play since I don't have printer . Just like 2.5 X-wing there'll be a group of players who can jump straight into it and other who have to wait for a year or until they can find someone to do a lot of printing
Just tried out a game with the new rules yesterday, and I must say I really enjoyed them. The "Deployment" and cover was especially satisfying... As well as making a huge clone unit of 9 clones, 1 Captain and a Z6! :D Felt like using fire support, without having to have a unit with a face up order token!
I think B2's are going to be very good now. Not only did AI become much easier to manage but they also moved from white defense with armor 1 to red dice, their main attack went from BW to BB, they gained wrist rockets and can get up to impact 7 and 10 red attack dice with the double unit size. Also with the double unit size they rally on red dice coupled with courage 2 and ignoring suppression it means they are going to be nearly impossible to force them to retreat. Sure they cost more now but I think that cost is well worth it given how much of a buff they got and the low cost of other options in CIS.
Yeah, B2 and Spiders are scary, way to cheap for the potential they have and AI is like nonexistent anymore. To be honest i realy dont like to see a Clone costs 13p and a B2 is only 18, thats kinda wrong in my opinion.
I love how legion was different and use to be its own game. Know it’s starting to look a lot like 40k, with save throws, secondary objectives,etc. This hurts but won’t stop me from playing
Dont be to quick to judge. I made that mistake with 10th ed 40k and it turned out to be not so bad. I love Legion and these new changes might be really fun

The new cards will be available in Q3 2025, as well as a lot of supplemental and additional miniatures. You won’t need to replace any of your older models!
I had two models left to paint before I was ready to play my first game, and so they go and drop a new edition on me that pretty well invalidates all my list building and research, and I don't even care because we are getting MOUNTED COMMANDERS, HECK YA
I like what i've read apart from: only modified cards are in the new art style, Transports are now only increased scout moves, reduction to area controller missions, they miss Sone of the cenic mission we had before, but will see.
@@EliWintercross yes, but in the end scour and Transport increase the deployment move of the trooper unit. After deployment, the transport keyword disappears.
They are way better than scout as you can build the move on top of the transport initiatial move. (Move transport into the field, then dismount from the transport) for somthing like a snail tank this could put a unit of B2’s or Magma guards a good 18-24” up the field turn one.
I’m excited to try it, Saber Throw on Vader with the new cover system is actually pretty decent, I’m just glad to see something change and give a reason to get Legion back on the TT
At this point, I am so done with all the changes and remakes. They clearly have no idea what they are doing. LOL I almost regret buying Star Wars Armada, and I definitely regret buying X-wing 2.0
Not sure I see the utility of the +5 minis upgrade for corps troopers. Wouldn’t it always be better to just take another corps unit? Although I do think it would be funny to run 100+ b1s
Very useful video thanks. My guess as to why the (seemingly inexplicable) reason behind no release of product (i.e., cards & suchlike) for v2.0 is that it's in incognito Beta testing with the Legion community doing the testing. Once it's been out and about for six odd months and enough data has been gathered from bth comp and casual play I'd imagine that will inform revamped/updated cards that will then see print.

I was never able to find a group to play a game with, so I never really learned how to play. As I have been informed that the local group will not be accepting my participation still, my biggest joy with Legion is the assembly and painting.
I dont mind a new edition but I just cant understand completely shifting everything when you have zero stock ready. Like I couldnt imagine being a store owner and having to explain to people why 50% of what comes in the core box is useless. Its just going to scare new players off in my eyes. Only other thing I have a problem with is no definitions for keywords on the cards. I dont want to have to thumb through a glossary for when I forget something and I mean the cards are blank af anyways its not like theyre short on space lmao. Ohhh the pokeball objective tokens are just bad too I forgot about that but thats minor.
I've been out of the loop on Legion for a bit. Will be interesting to see if this new version really entices me to get back into it instead of Shatterpoint.
As a new player this is both exciting and worrying to me I've only just started to understand the old core rules as I've just been painting so having to learn again could be confusing but I'm looking forward to the new rules seeing how they play the new models it's an exciting time to be a SWL fan I think
Not having a new core set until next year blows my mind. I've been tempted by Legion for a while and a new edition feels like a good time to jump in... But not when I can't buy a starter set with updated rules in it!
Kinda surprised tournaments don't have a rule for update time limits. Like any updates to the game within 30 days of tournament start are not used, it would cut down on confusion. Not liking the transport rules at first glance. The 5 extra troopers using the personal slot I'm not a fan of. Might have been nicer to give those units an ablity to team up, e.g., two stormtrooper units can be formed into a single choice if one (and only one) has a leader upgrade. This would allow you to have a captain/officer in the unit and also some variety. Instead, we get one heavy choice and 9 basic troops. The rules on different troop types really seem to push them into specific roles, rebel veterans, and shore troopers are pushed more towards defensive play.
I think they kept the battle mat formations similar because of it being a new edition. They wanted to give the community easy maps to learn the game again. We'll definitely get new maps in another expansion pack release
I need to check my points to make sure I have enough still... I *think* I do though - I got stupid-lucky (50% off sale at a store a month ago) and picked up Ahsoka, Sabine, Echo Base Defenders and Clan Wren for well, 50% off. So I should be fine. Should. Mostly I'm just excited it won't be so hard to squeeze Sabine and Ahsoka into the same list now.
I picked up a core box a year and a half ago, and sadly haven't actually put the minis together or played yet. I am hoping to do so soon, but it sounds like i should print out the new rules and learn with that, instead of what's in my box? And reprint most of the cards? Sounds fun....
Thanks for the rundown. I'm still not sure more dice rolls with larger armies is a good thing, for the game, looks like it's going to make the games longer even with the reduction in game rounds. But getting into the new rules and get some routine down will tell if I'm wrong.
I can see why they nerfed grenades; with a B1 squad doubled in size, equipped with a 5(?) point grenade a player could easily shut down areas with a *12+ red die* range 1 attack. That’s far more powerful than any other individual unit’s attack (or iirc a really beefy old-school Clone fire support attack) for a low-tier Operative total points cost (and only one activation vs OG fire support)… and you could run 6 of them.
You can move into them - but the attack that follows the charge? According to the printed rules you cannot. If the rules forum has changed that then I hope they adjust the printed rules.
@Crabbok Hi there, The Relentless Unit Keyword (and Steady & Charge!) may indeed be used following the free move action granted by spending a standby token. If the standby token is spent to perform a free attack action, the only unit that can be declared as a defender during a free attack made in this way is the enemy unit that performed the effect that triggered the standby. Indeed this is huge. Getting English packs in Germany has been so much more expensive than the regional versions. Looking forward to this change.

So, with the new intended board size, how often do you find your units in melee? Cause even at a 4x4 I've seen no chance to go for melee yet.

I don't think so. Most of the feedback I've read has been positive. In my handful of games it hasn't been too different.
I've read a bunch of break downs of people who have played the new rule sets and they like the new cover.

Biggest L for me is the removal of the DC-15 for the Clone Troopers, now you are stucked with Range 2 and 3, always loved the Range 4 option.

I think it would be awesome if you did a "how too play" for new players.

I love how legion was different and use to be its own game. Know it’s starting to look a lot like 40k, with save throws, secondary objectives,etc. This hurts but won’t stop me from playing
Dont be to quick to judge. I made that mistake with 10th ed 40k and it turned out to be not so bad. I love Legion and these new changes might be really fun

Im curious to know if amg is going to release an upgrade pack and rules so you dont have to buy all new minis. Also wondering if older minis are still going to be good to use or do you need to buy all new product.
I'm assuming the card pack they are releasing next year will have unit cards. I'm definitely buying the rebel and empire rescuplts that are coming.
The new cards will be available in Q3 2025, as well as a lot of supplemental and additional miniatures. You won’t need to replace any of your older models!
They said during ministravaganza they would be releasing card packs.
Will my old sets be compatible with this new version or will I have to buy the new sets to play the new versions
I had two models left to paint before I was ready to play my first game, and so they go and drop a new edition on me that pretty well invalidates all my list building and research, and I don't even care because we are getting MOUNTED COMMANDERS, HECK YA
I'm super happy with the clones. I only ever like running Phase 2 clones, so I'm glad they come with both helmets now.

Beginner here .. hasnt played a single game yet. Do i now need a upgrade set like when xwing 2.0 hit the shelves? as all cards are changed?
I like what i've read apart from: only modified cards are in the new art style, Transports are now only increased scout moves, reduction to area controller missions, they miss Sone of the cenic mission we had before, but will see.
Transport is an alternative to scout, can't use both together
@@EliWintercross yes, but in the end scour and Transport increase the deployment move of the trooper unit. After deployment, the transport keyword disappears.
They are way better than scout as you can build the move on top of the transport initiatial move. (Move transport into the field, then dismount from the transport) for somthing like a snail tank this could put a unit of B2’s or Magma guards a good 18-24” up the field turn one.
After playing a test game on Sunday both me and my opponent found a lot more we enjoyed about the newest additions.
I’m excited to try it, Saber Throw on Vader with the new cover system is actually pretty decent, I’m just glad to see something change and give a reason to get Legion back on the TT
At this point, I am so done with all the changes and remakes. They clearly have no idea what they are doing. LOL
I almost regret buying Star Wars Armada, and I definitely regret buying X-wing 2.0
Not sure I see the utility of the +5 minis upgrade for corps troopers. Wouldn’t it always be better to just take another corps unit? Although I do think it would be funny to run 100+ b1s
Very useful video thanks. My guess as to why the (seemingly inexplicable) reason behind no release of product (i.e., cards & suchlike) for v2.0 is that it's in incognito Beta testing with the Legion community doing the testing. Once it's been out and about for six odd months and enough data has been gathered from bth comp and casual play I'd imagine that will inform revamped/updated cards that will then see print.

I was never able to find a group to play a game with, so I never really learned how to play. As I have been informed that the local group will not be accepting my participation still, my biggest joy with Legion is the assembly and painting.
I dont mind a new edition but I just cant understand completely shifting everything when you have zero stock ready. Like I couldnt imagine being a store owner and having to explain to people why 50% of what comes in the core box is useless. Its just going to scare new players off in my eyes. Only other thing I have a problem with is no definitions for keywords on the cards. I dont want to have to thumb through a glossary for when I forget something and I mean the cards are blank af anyways its not like theyre short on space lmao.
Ohhh the pokeball objective tokens are just bad too I forgot about that but thats minor.
I've been out of the loop on Legion for a bit. Will be interesting to see if this new version really entices me to get back into it instead of Shatterpoint.
As a new player this is both exciting and worrying to me I've only just started to understand the old core rules as I've just been painting so having to learn again could be confusing but I'm looking forward to the new rules seeing how they play the new models it's an exciting time to be a SWL fan I think
It'll be interesting to see how it goes. I just wish they put an update product out with the changes, or at least within weeks of the anouncement.
Not having a new core set until next year blows my mind. I've been tempted by Legion for a while and a new edition feels like a good time to jump in... But not when I can't buy a starter set with updated rules in it!
Kinda surprised tournaments don't have a rule for update time limits. Like any updates to the game within 30 days of tournament start are not used, it would cut down on confusion.
Not liking the transport rules at first glance.
The 5 extra troopers using the personal slot I'm not a fan of.
Might have been nicer to give those units an ablity to team up, e.g., two stormtrooper units can be formed into a single choice if one (and only one) has a leader upgrade. This would allow you to have a captain/officer in the unit and also some variety. Instead, we get one heavy choice and 9 basic troops.
The rules on different troop types really seem to push them into specific roles, rebel veterans, and shore troopers are pushed more towards defensive play.
I think they kept the battle mat formations similar because of it being a new edition. They wanted to give the community easy maps to learn the game again. We'll definitely get new maps in another expansion pack release
I need to check my points to make sure I have enough still... I *think* I do though - I got stupid-lucky (50% off sale at a store a month ago) and picked up Ahsoka, Sabine, Echo Base Defenders and Clan Wren for well, 50% off. So I should be fine. Should. Mostly I'm just excited it won't be so hard to squeeze Sabine and Ahsoka into the same list now.

I picked up a core box a year and a half ago, and sadly haven't actually put the minis together or played yet. I am hoping to do so soon, but it sounds like i should print out the new rules and learn with that, instead of what's in my box? And reprint most of the cards? Sounds fun....

Thanks for the rundown. I'm still not sure more dice rolls with larger armies is a good thing, for the game, looks like it's going to make the games longer even with the reduction in game rounds. But getting into the new rules and get some routine down will tell if I'm wrong.

I can see why they nerfed grenades; with a B1 squad doubled in size, equipped with a 5(?) point grenade a player could easily shut down areas with a *12+ red die* range 1 attack. That’s far more powerful than any other individual unit’s attack (or iirc a really beefy old-school Clone fire support attack) for a low-tier Operative total points cost (and only one activation vs OG fire support)… and you could run 6 of them.
Why do we have a print & play 3" range tool??? The Movement 1 Tool is exactly 3" already...

You can move into them - but the attack that follows the charge? According to the printed rules you cannot. If the rules forum has changed that then I hope they adjust the printed rules.

The Relentless Unit Keyword (and Steady & Charge!) may indeed be used following the free move action granted by spending a standby token.
If the standby token is spent to perform a free attack action, the only unit that can be declared as a defender during a free attack made in this way is the enemy unit that performed the effect that triggered the standby. If the standby is spent to perform a free move action, any attacks generated by that move action are not so limited!

Depends largely if you want to wait a other year. Most of the contents in the box will be useable going forward.
