  • Full flight (doesn't all go to plan!) with abbreviated checklist available to download. Flying from St Barts to Saba in the Trislander (MSFS) by BlackBox Simulation. Such a quirky aircraft with plenty of character. Caveat: I am not a Trislander pilot and I'm sure there's plenty I've missed or done wrong. But if you want to learn this aircraft then this video will get you going very quickly! Please refer to BBS website or social media for more information as it becomes available. Thanks for watching!
Apologies for my system not being as smooth as it could be . It is not due to the aircraft, most likely a lack of optimization on my part!

One of my clearest memories of family holidays in Jersey as a kid (early-mid 70's) was watching aircraft arriving and departing over the cliffs at St Ouen's Bay. I'm not sure that I ever saw one that wasn't either a DC3 or a Trilander.

I will definately be happy chugging around the channel islands and doing the Aurigny long haul (about 45 mins flight time) between Southampton and Alderney

Great video, looks like a lot of stuff to catch the uninitiated out - carb heaters, prop pitch during climb and leaning out to mention a few! :-)

Absolutely! This was by no means a deep dive - lots to learn!

Nice little island hopper! Unusual, to say the least, but it's certainly a module I'll think about purchasing.
Excellent vid as always, Sir. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻

Thank you for sharing!! This aircraft is a work horse, specially for cargo!! Looking forward to it. Lots of Caribbean flights in my mind with this one and his small brother (the Islander)

Blackbox can take my money now!
Apparently Air Alderney are getting a Trislander later this year. If that's true then it'll be flying once again in Europe.

    Ah, the clockwork tristar!
A very interesting video as usual Chris.
Auringey for 30yrs flew these (including G-Joey) from the Channel Islands to EGHI Southampton at least twice a day. Joey is still around as a ground exhibit on one of the islands.
Weight and balance was a challenge with a full load, a tail prop was used to stop it sitting on its tail, as the rear seats had to be filled first. Its not that quiet in the cabin, from the ground on climb out it was extremely noisy, you could tell it was coming long before it appeared!. Looking forward to adding it to my fleet.

Yep! Joey is hanging from the ceiling in the restaurant at Oatlands in Guernsey :)

@@bluefunkybassman I’m glad to know it’s still in preservation, it was one of a kind, certainly the paint job!, and served the islands for so long and so well.

Terrific video! I got to fly on one in Australia back in 1979, VH-BGS. That aircraft was the one whose propeller later came off in midflight and tore through the cabin, yet landed safely in NZ. Amazing airplanes from the Isle of Wight. Only 72 were built.

😳 that sounds horrific! I’ve always worried, having sat next to the props in the passenger section, how likely it was for them to fly into the cabin!

Don't worry about the oval pattern. Those that play DCS or Il-2 are used to doing and seeing these kinds of things😉

Have you tried landing at EG78? My favourite dirt strip for short landing shinanigans.

    • @cgaviator
      @cgaviator  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I may have done! Though the strip I tried was a little too much on the short side! 😅

EG78 is the crown jewel of UK. Love it! Favorite! Default airstrip with more detail than most add ons! Crazy detail! Good recommendation!!!

It’s not bad. I’m not a fan of the lime green sun shade. But definitely needs some wear and tear!
