Spearfishing Hawaii Epic Location Only 5 Fish Allowed

  • In this episode Justin Lee and I go spearfishing in Hawaii on the mythical hamakua coast. This is a throwback to my first time diving over there and Justin tells me this location is so good that it has special rules. He tells me I’m only allowed to shoot 5 fish and no more than 3 of any species. I shoot my first kumu ever and as usual walk you through my dives. This footage is super cool because you can see some of the old bad habits I had diving just two years ago. Hope you guys enjoy it and as always leave a comment, like the video, and subscribe!!!

Plus I would love a video about all your gear (neck weight, guns, kui, etc) and when and where to use what. MAHALO from Kauai. Come visit and let's dive!

    I would agree with the windward side being rougher and holding more. Kona waters are a blessing and a curse, cause you'll see fisherman/divers day after day at some spots with no rest. If you think about it, this covid situation is kind of helpful for the ocean to recover. Sucks though staying at home. Always take care of the resources cause in times like these, you'll wish you've done so.

But when i was watching your videos i came across hook breathing technique. Can you explain me what it is or anybody else from the chat. And one more thing... Could you tell me some of most efficient breathing exercises for holding breath longer?
    Thank you for responding.

    • @RyanMyersExpeditions
      @RyanMyersExpeditions  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there Nino, hook breathing is when you partially exhale and hold upon surfacing. We do that to prevent black outs. Try some of the breathold apps and do tables. Or try and hold your breath and walk and see how many steps you can do. Good luck!

      @@RyanMyersExpeditions i have the same Rob Allen carbon (wahoo gun) 110 but not roller.. Do u advise to convert it? But the maximum i catch 7kg or 8kg fish.. Is it worth? 🤔 Is there a big difference?

      I think so ya I really like the rollers and find I’m much more accurate.

      I cried underwater on that one. Searched and searched for it but there was current and couldn’t see the bottom.

    Funny how prized gt’s are out here and you pass them up every dive lol. Don’t even mention em just go for goats. I’d take a gt sash plate any day over a kali lol. You don’t have single Kumu limit on BI eh? We can only get one on Maui

    • @RyanMyersExpeditions
      @RyanMyersExpeditions  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see em a lot but they always end the dive so unless I’m headed in and have something to do with them I tend to leave them alone. Big big fan of eating the kalis!!!

    Legit again braddah Ryan. I was born and raised on the EAST side, shooting fish is waterman skills not just freediving skills. Keep sharing your stories, you prove in Hawaii respect given = respect earned.
