@@ChainMan21 oh shoot!! thank you for letting me know, it does look like it
A saint. Thanks for holding onto this little piece of history
The man who s too good for the mighty Metallica
A Primus- and a Porcupine Tree fan? Marry me.
@@vege4920 😍😍😍😍😍
Damn right he is.
Metallica is horrible.
Glad things went the way they did.
Les a great composer.
Metallica can’t even play their own instruments.
He wouldn't have been able to play his style, Lars and James are way too controlling.
I don't know if he's too good. He had a higher purpose.
I’m 71 years old, I only knew of Primus from South Park, I listened jus to his music and WOW! He can hit that bass like I’ve never seen!
it also sounds great
Better late than never.
3:52 here we can spy Leslie Claypool driving off into the sunset in his signature thingamabob
Genius. Massive sound for a three piece. All compliment each other perfectly.
That was a funny lookin car les was driving
I WILL VOTE FOR YOU ANY DAY MASTER.
Definitely one of the most talented bass players I have ever seen in my life. Love this guy.❤️
You couldn’t be more right.
He is the best bass player ever.
There's nobody better. There's different, but nobody better
Love this guy. Should be called Mor Claypool.
les is my spirit animal
Thanks for sharing this!!! I’m a total Claypool freak and I’ve never seen this until now!!!!
He's just a nerdy dude that loves playing bass
I love him
Bro is a vibe
Interesting video. A good insight of a talented man doing things he loves.
Looking at that outdoor footage, I wonder if he lives anywhere near Neil Young’s Broken Arrow Ranch… I know they both live in Northern California…
Wow this takes me back.
Judging by the CRT monitor, this was shot a long long time ago. There may have been dinosaurs.
Late Nineties.

Claypools best interview
When i was a little kid one of the cats went pee on the bean bag. Ever since instead of saying I have to use the bathroom we say I gotta use the bean bag 🤣
Omg... what a throw back. 🎉
Les reminds me of Mike Patton he's got the same type of personality
Les is 10 times cooler. Patton can be annoying
Awesome quality for this what, nearly 30 year old spot? Thank you, Ive never seen this.
Saw you at Berkley square, best show ever
I swear this guy was born holding a bass
those 6-wheeler ATVs are dangerous as all heck !
Look at that whole property. Must be really some money in music for musicians after all
Probably sold his soul like many of them
@@zogloft7735Les Claypool selling his soul? That’s the funniest shit I’ve ever heard unless you’re referring to the Devil Went Down to Georgia.
Ah yes the days before Napster and everything after it absolutely devalued musical artists.
There’s money in it… Assuming you’re really good, and really lucky…
@@BaconTomatoCheese these days it’s probably beyond just good or just lucky or just few. It’s likely another form of art imitating life. As in, 1% of the “population” being able to get their hands on 99% of the whole wealth
Claypool para presidente de México! 😎👍
Definitivamente encajaría bien.
Yall ever notice he never mentions creating the South Park intro as stuff he is "best known for"? Huge amount of respect for Les.
I see what you mean, But being known for the primus guy is way better than being known for the south park intro guy. deffinetly more to be proud of there
When you consider what he's done, south park is a footnote compared to oysterhead, c2b3, primus ofc, duo de twang, solo, etc.
He really isn’t known for it. His actual music has done a lot more for his name than the theme song
You mean the South Park intro doesn't get filed under "being in Primus"?
It always made me sad that you can barely hear the bass parts of the south park theme. And same with whamola. Maybe that’s why he doesn’t like it that much
Would love a follow up of this, just to see how Les does things now if he's adapted new tools or sticks to what he knows.
It can be fun, it can be a huge pain in the ass…music in a nutshell
have you noticed most vocalists have a different voice tone when speaking casually and NOT singing? this dude sounds exactly the same here and on record. what does that mean?
"You know, Woodstock was just Durst being Durst. His attitude is no press is bad press, so he brings it on himself. He wallows in it. Still, he's a great guy."
For years during the nineties a band buddy of mine would make comments about music, our music, how to play It how to whatever with it always the end of the sentence being “unless you’re Primus”.. I didn’t even check Primus out until really late in their careers but I was aware that he did the Seinfeld stuff.. when I finally discovered the early famous you tube videos at high volume, drunk it was then why I realized that yes… nothing works, anything goes especially if you’re Primus. Too good for Metallica… of course he was. He’s one of two great Lester’s that are Icons.. Claypool and Paul.. two originals to the bone. I love this guy. He’s real and himself.. take him or leave him… I’ll take em
Well, he’s a Leslie.
For the record, he did not play on Seinfeld. It was played on a Korean synthesizer by Jonathan Wolff..
Is that Tom Waits at 0:30??
oh my god, I'm so glad you said that! I never even noticed. it might very well be mr. Waits, considering the "I Don't Wanna Grow Up" mv was partially shot on Rancho Relaxo (parts with Tom riding around on the tricycle)
I was hoping this would be more like MTV cribs
You mean fake? No thanks
Thank you
CRT! Respect
💪
I saw the thumbnail and you look like the mummified White man from western China, 3000 B.C.
I swear, depending on the area of the band, he seems like a completely different person every time!?
Do you mean era?
What song plays at the beginning to this
Running The Gauntlet, it's from one of Les' bands named Les Claypool And The Holy Mackerel.
The one at the very beginning is tue first few notes of “Holy Mackerel” looped.
@@colonel_dingus Holy Mackerel is mostly a solo project.
How old is this. ?? guessing +20 years with that monitor 😄
I don’t have the exact date but judging by the way Les’ website looks at the end… this was made somewhere around 2001.
My guess would be late 90s
😂😂😂
this is so outwordly
Les for pres
You got a "translate to English" button from TH-cam under your comment. When I hit it, your comment " Les for pres" turns into
"They were taken" ..
😂
Not a Primus fan, but RESPECT! What a talent!
