So excited to see repressing and repanning content! Faces by Gina is really out here changing the way I use and look at makeup. Both of you are such wonderful creators.
Was going through an anxiety attack and saw that you uploaded so now I feel better. Your videos are always so comforting even if you’re roasting someone! thanks Emily 💕
Oh, I'm glad to shout you out! You've helped me so much in this process. I could see that with the Alamar mattes, they're realllly dry and I feel like they could benefit from a mortar and pestle! Thanks for starting the #RepanRevolution and inspiring me to smash some shadows up!
Gina how was I not familiar w you in this space?!?! I just subbed, this is my three day weekend off (work two, off one, fml) , please fully expect some channel stalking from me. I loooove depotting/represssing w my whole heart. Xx
@@FacesByGina watching a vid now girl, your lack of sale regrets, tried to pick one that would give me insight to your personality lol. Hearin ya loud and clear and agreeing 👌🤘
I love a good repressing. I definitely recommend a mortar and pestle for mattes, but if you don't have one and the chopping option isn't enough for you, put the powder into a plastic bag to see if your can crush it up a bit more.
Thank you so much for this! I wish I would have seen this couple weeks ago! I bought some loose shadows and tried to make them into press powders. I bought all the gear, watched all the tutorials and all the shadows just went goopy! And pretty much ruined it. This was so informative at least I have this to refer to now! 🧡
Loose pigments are a whole other ballgame. I've never pressed any loose pigments but I've heard too much binder can make them gummy. I definitely recommend checking out #repanrevolution on IG because lots of folks are pressing loose pigments I think!
@@Xena20 In particular, @martesmakeup here on TH-cam has an excellent tutorial! I learned from her when I went to press my Tammy Tanuka pigments, and they turned out very well!
This is great! I have an old Alter ego palette that I love the size and weight of but the shadows are getting old. I was thinking it would be fun to refill the pans with fresh shadows. The palette is magnetic too so it should work okay.
The only thing that may be tricky is the pressing process, if you are repressing mattes and the pans aren't round. It's important to have a piece of something (pressing tile, coin, etc) the same size as the shadow pan to really press it down dry. But if it's all shimmers, that's less of a concern.
@@imperfectlyEm I am sure I have something appropriate to use around the house. I also purchased the new Besame refillable travel compact so I may try practicing on that if I don't like the powder I chose. It said all skin types so we will see if they lied.
Where do you get your 26mm pans to repress into? I've repressed shadows into smaller pans from shadows I finished, but I've only finished like 2 single shadows 😅😅
TKB for sure. They have kits and pressing tiles too. They are old out often though. Aluminum pans aren't magnetized, but they are not prone to rusting. Tin pans are magnetized, but are prone to rusting (don't leave tin pans soaking in alcohol for example).
you don't need that specific circle to do it. a bottle that fits into the pan, or your finger, or any flat object that you can press into the pan works! i'd put a tissue between the shadow and the thing.
I find that having all 26mm pans makes it more easy for me to grab and create custom eyeshadow palettes. So that's the main reason for me. If you have hard pan, you can try the tape method (using scotch tape across the top of the eyeshadow to take off a layer). But if it's consistently hardpan, perhaps repressing will help.
I have been trying to find the higher percentage alcohol since March, and can only find it in a HUGE container or for a LOT of $. Where do you get yours?
@@imperfectlyEm hmm, thanx. I am not so sure of purchasing something like that on eBay. So many are taking advantage during these times that I don’t trust the liquid to not be diluted or swapped out.
@@lauraleventer5184 That's totally fair! It seems like straight up alcohol from my luck BUT we don't all fair the same luck. Fortunately, a LOT of shimmer shadows don't need alcohol to repress beautifully.
I have a few shadows in my after dark palette that came broken in the palette and I definitely want to fix them. I'm clumsy and hella paranoid that they will shatter completely...😱
Yes you should definitely give it a try. You may want to get round pans for that because I know for me I don't have a square magnet the right size to compress the shadows down, which is especially needed for mattes.
Yes! Sometimes if I'm repressing a JD Glow or Give Me Glow shadow, instead of perfectly splitting the pan in half, I'll just press everything that fits and any extra/leftover gets mixed into other "franken-shadows"!
If you dry pressed without alcohol and that happened, perhaps it is too firmly pressed. But I find that I'd rather have to dig into the pan more to pick up shadow more than the opposite, where shadows are more delicate and give a lot of kickup.
You had mentioned in your last video that they make magnetic depotting spatulas. Can you provide a name or link? I can't seem to find one. Otherwise, I'm going to shamelessly copy your design! I'm so tired of digging my nails into eyeshadow pans.
It's not even my own design! Someone in #RepanRevolution on IG did it first, and I think Gina did it next and then me? I'm trying to find the brand but I'm struggling to do so. If I can find it, I'll come back and share the info!

Aw thank you! 🤗I've been repanning for a while now but finally got some filmed content up.
Well this is a lovely thing to see in a comment section. Thank you! ^_^
I enjoy Faces by Gina.
This is really nice, soothing presentation on how to do repressing.
So satisfying. This would be fun idea for gift and custom palettes, especially with large pans that can be split up. Awesome as always!
This really helped me! Thanks 💕 I really appreciated that you had featured multiple formulas because I had a shattered matte and shimmer.

I love how you got the vast majority of the product and took that extra effort! Also Prismatic is such a beautiful shade, I want it one day!

Love this video! I've been looking at how to press shadows/pigments into the pan, this is perfect timing!
I hope it's helpful! ❤
How did I not realize you had made this vid!? Very nice! 😍
Thank you! 😄
Love this my video you make the best content! 🤍💛🖤🧡🤎💙💖❤️💜💚
Thank you!
Girl, you are brave. I would never try to switch the pans on a shadow.
Once I've dropped some single shadows and learn that I *have* to figure out how to repress them, it's given me the bravery to repress other shadows.

I've bought them from Amazon or from TKB Trading, which has all kinds of tools like makeup pans and compacts, etc.

I’d always wondered why I could never salvage a dropped matte. Thanks for the tips! I have a vibrant hot pink pigment that I’m gonna try to rescue....
Happy to help! Good luck on the rescue mission!
Where do you find the empty pans? I have some loose shadows from Shiro Cosmetics I would love to press but I don't know where to find them. Thanks!
I’m gonna try this matte technique with two of my repressed Juvias place that were never the same! Lol
Yes!!! I hope it helps.
I can't find a small magnet like yours anywhere. Is there any way to press the shimmer without it?
you don't need that specific circle to do it. a bottle that fits into the pan, or your finger, or any flat object that you can press into the pan works! i'd put a tissue between the shadow and the thing.
