Tom-- I was at this funeral, also. I'm older than you, and remember Fr. John at St. Joe's in MV. He was very active with the children in the parish and very involved in our new St. Joseph Catholic School. We loved him! Many of my classmates celebrated Fr. John's birthday with him every year and just "Zoomed" with him on his 98th in January. I was so impressed with his beautiful funeral. He had such a positive impact on so many people in his lifetime. He had a true calling. He and his cousin, Jerry Coleman, were outstanding baseball players with futures in the Pros. But Fr. John entered the seminary and never looked back! He was a true saint! (BTW, Tom, I knew your parents. They were friends of my parents, Dick and Ginny O'Brien.). Nice video! Thanks for sharing it.
Karen, Thanks so much for sharing your memories of Fr. Coleman. I do remember our parents were friends. My mom still talks about them. 😃 Your Mom and Dad were also the Godparents of my youngest sister! I remember your dad as the manager of the bank. Great hearing from you.
Thank you, Tom. I was a classmate of Karen's at St. Joseph's Grammar School. Father John was a huge inspiration for me as a young Catholic Italian-American boy. I served him as an altar boy and caught maybe one of his many fly balls to us out on the ballfield that has become St. Francis High School in Mountain View. I ended up following Father John into St. Joseph's Seminary where I graduated in 1965 (R-65). But I left the seminary shortly after and went on to a poet/journalist/politician life in rural Colorado. As Karen said, a number of us from Mountain View have been meeting annually for a get-together live or by zoom to celebrate Father John's birthday. Last month we did that honoring Fr. John's 98th. Bless his spirit, alive in all who knew him.
After I was Baptized as a baby he was transferred to other churches so I really never knew him. I had been told many years ago that he was a Priest at our church for a time, but I had no memory of him. I attended his funeral as someone asked me to go with them.

Thank you, Art, for sharing your memories of Fr. Coleman. What year did you graduate from 8th Grade St. Joseph’s.
@@TomChasuk I think it was 1959, Tom
@@deviantbonbonz What was 1959?
@@TomChasuk You asked in your comment above the year I graduated from St. Joseph's Grammar School

You’re very welcome, Monica. Thank you for sharing your story!
This music is so joyful. Such a great tribute to Father Coleman.
Rest in peace Fr John 🙏🕊️ he was the priest who presented me
Hi Juan, That is sweet. Does "present" mean the same as baptized?
@@TomChasukno that means he welcome me to the world
Got it. Thank you, Juan.
Ahh yes…thank you!
This is very nice. Not to be mean or accusatory, but why did you never see him in 69 years? I am just curious, and probably nosy.

Thanks for answering. I felt embarrassed after I asked you that question because it was so personal.
Your question was a good one, Duane. Thanks for asking😊
