If I would have had a teacher like this it would have made such a difference. I was diagnosed with ADHD at an early age. I had a teacher who thought public shame would make me pay attention. She would call me out in front of the class and say “I see you aren’t paying attention over there” or “did you take your meds today because you aren’t focusing” all in front of everyone.
I had so many mean teachers as a kid. Some would pick on kids who were already bullied and made the problem worse. I am 40. I'm hoping people are kinder to kids nowadays. Stuff like this gives me hope.
So sorry that you had to go through that experience(s). I hope we’re all more enlightened now. I was lucky to have had such amazing teachers …maybe a few weren’t so great in high school. BUT I think college was the worst…I’ve had professors that were abusive and downright predatory
Tears, tears, tears...this tender conversation gives me hope for our children. Thank you as a Survivor to Thriver, you guys are so right. I took me years of therapy past the negative feelings I had about myself because I exploded until I learned to to self regulate. I am so happy children in your sphere have a greater opportunity for faster recovery. God bless you both.
Thank you both for this discussion! I hope to foster in the future and hadn't thought much about school life for the kids. This was really insightful with how much of the difference the teacher can make and got me thinking about how I could talk to the teacher ahead of time about drills and family oriented assignments and so on and make sure the kiddos feel safe and included.
Thanks for sharing. I do love your content. With this I noticed some common yet troubling patterns of criticizing other teachers while she builds herself up. This person is a former teacher. Often young, new teachers burn themselves out of the field. I would love to hear from a veteran teacher on these topics to find out what works realistically and is sustainable.
Maybe not here because therapists and education professionals might be able to dive a little deeper from experience than a (foster) parent outside perspective

May you please make a video on a foster kid who either refuses to eat or one who eats as if they will never be able to again? Thank you!
This video brings up so many memories of times school missed the mark with me or my peers

Wow this is awesome! Thank you so much!
Thank you for this!!
I would love to dive into studies on silent lunch for individuals and also the entire lunch room to get a better perspective on the topic
