@@BlackWaterCyclist yes I got my 910 a month ago and I absolutely love it,I haven't changed the head angle at all yet but will in the future just to try it out.Really love how the bike handles straight out the box and I totally agree with you on how stiff it feels in the bottom bracket,overall really really happy with my purchase thanks for asking 😊
Got the 910 as well, have ridden Scott's since 2004, 15 Geniuses + Spark's in all, and this is without a doubt the best weapon I have ridden, amazing machine. The technology is brilliant, the only problem is the fat, old, unfit engine riding it 😂
@@Tjames579Trail Spark already has slacker head angle. Only Spark RC has steeper angle.
Hey how do I know that the bottom and top cap match the same angle? I not that you can deviate the angle altogether to +/- 0.6º. But I couldnt find a sign that differentiates them

I have the last generation 2021 Scott Spark RC. Any idea if I can install Scott or aftermarket headset cups from the new model to change head angle?

Do you think it would be a good idea to put a piece of foam or something at both sides of the stem where the cables enter to help prevent dust entering the headset?
That is actually a great idea. You probably won't get much dirt or anything in there as it is because it is fairly small. I could see riding in extremely muddy conditions could get some stuff in there. Let me know if you try it.
Many thanks for the video and explanation! Question: did you have to tighten the steer skew more than usual on your bike, compared to other bikes? I have to...
I did not but I did find I had to use it to compress the cups in a little better so you could have to tighten it tighter than usual to compress everything. You could over tighten it a little and then tighten your stem and then loosen the steerer tube a bit and you'll be good.
Which garmin mount do you have installed ? I see it is is a k-edge but don’t seem to find it on the web though …

My Favorite is the relaxed position. I like that it gives the fork a better angle of attack on obstacles, so the fork is more sensitive to small bump hits. I do not find it to mess up climbing up sharp switch backs.
Hello everyone, I would like to change (if it is not already standard) the angle of my Scott Spark RC and make it more open (more downhill position). I would like to know how it is possible to know what the current angle is. Are there any indications on the headset cups that let me know if it is currently in the open or closed angle position? Thank you
I do not believe there are any indicators but if you look from the side of your bike, you can tell if the fork is sitting further forward or rearward compared to the bottom of the head tube. If it looks like it is closer to the front, then it is in the slack position, if it is closer to the rear, it is in the steep position.

That is a great question. I actually did not see any marks on the outside of the cups so probably have to take it out to see it. One thing you can do is get one of the bubble level apps on your phone and put it on the fork to see what the current angle of your fork.
@@BlackWaterCyclist there are actually tiny notches (divots?) visible when assembled. Just checked my 920 and it's slack - top notch in back, bottom notch in front.

Thanks! I am pretty sure they come steeper (Not slacker) from the factory. The one I was working on came from the factory in the steep position.

@@BlackWaterCyclist How does that correspond with the small notches that can be seen from the outside of the headset cups? My Spark 970 came from the dealer with the notch in top ring towards rear and in bottom ring towards front. Not confirmed, but I think that is the slacker angle.
For anyone wondering, my Spark 940 came with the top cup rotated with the notch to the rear of the bike and bottom cup rotated with the notch to the front of the bike. I assume this is the slack position.
hey thanks for the vid.... what happens if you need to change the length plus the altitude of the stem? whats with the cables?
The cables have enough slack that you can move the stem up and down pretty easily. The spacers that the cable goes through actually split so you do not have to re-cable it or anything.
@@BlackWaterCyclist but if you need to go.lower then the suspension mast will be higher and the integrated pastic thing will not work right?
@@dferrerll That is true. You will have to cut the steerer tube to make the plastic cover work so that is definitely a bummer. But you do not have to put the plastic cover on to ride the bike so you can test several positions before finalizing the steerer tube cut.

Just cleaned up the headset on my rc as it was dirty and it came to me how the he'll am I gonna change the headset , all the brake cables gear cables and lock out cables need to be taken off by the looks of it. Have you changed yours yet
I have not changed out the headset yet. You can change the bottom bearing without re-routing everything but the upper bearing will require a whole new cable and housing change and re-route as well as a rear brake bleed and hose re-route. It is definitely a pain and I wish Scott would have made an option to run the cables more tradition around the headtube if you did not care for the sleek look.
Do you know if this can be done with the Scott Patron?
I have looked but I have not seen anything about the Patron being able to change head tube angles. It looks like it does not offer this option.
Is it possible to see what position it is in from the outside without disassembling? Any markings that tells where those tabs are?
There are small lines indented in the headset cups that you can see from the outside. According to the manual the notches must be opposite from each other, for example the notch in the top cup will be facing the rear while the notch in the bottom cup faces the front. It's still not clear to me which angle is more or less slack, but I am to believe it is in the more slack position when the notch in the top cup is facing the rear and the notch in the bottom cup faces the front. Hope this helps.
@@nolanvanharte3004 Thanks for the answer! I got my new Spark 970 now and can confirm that the headset cups are in that position from the factory. Notch in top ring towards rear and in bottom ring towards front. Not sure, but I think this is the setting for slacker angle so I will not change it.
As I mentioned before, you can try to get a Bubble Level App on your phone and see what the angle of your fork is currently and get an idea if it is in the steeper or slacker angle.
Any of you all have creaking noise coming from the stem area? I think it is due to the plastic spacers when you are pedaling hard and really cranking on the bars it puts just enough pressure on the plastic to make creaking noises. Anyone have the same thing and figure out how to stop it? My neighbor has a 910 and I have a 940. We both have the noises. I pulled everything apart and made sure everything was centered perfectly and torqued properly. That reduced the creaking but did not eliminate it. Thanks!
I just did one, I greased everything, must be a creak monster.

@@tekyguy I have a SCOTT Spark RC Team black and almost since day one, i have the creak coming from the stem area.
Mine came with Race Face cinch cranks, and with such a small bottom bracket and the oversize spindle? Creaks almost from day 1.
Also does a cling sound coming from the suspension pivots, or frame i dont know when putting force on the pedals. I dont know if its the BB bearings or something on the suspension and the sound resonates along the frame.
Also from day 1 the rear derailleur kinda jumped on the bigger cogs. I thought it could be a binded lik somewhere? But no. The cassette is ok. The only possible cause is that the chain came from factory shorter than what is specified by shimano on the manual.
In short, i really love this bike, and the geometry, but some of the engineering on this bike is just plain stupid. Swiss engineering my a** lol.

Just to be sure I understood: to slack the angle both pins (on the top and bottom plastic cups) must be placed rearward, right?
Just got the manual: the top sign rearward, the bottom sign forward

The manual says the top notch and bottom notch must be opposite of each other. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's in the more slack position when the top cup notch is facing rearwards and bottom cup notch is facing forwards. You can see the notches/lines from the outside without any disassembly
Measured angle of my fork both directions and can confirm that notch on top rearwards is slack

which Garmin are you using in the bar?
It is the Garmin Edge 830. This was a customers bike but I have the 530 on my bike. Definitely recommend both of them. Garmin have definitely improved their computers.

Thanks! It is the Garmin Forerunner 735XT. Its one of their older models but works great for what I use it for, a back up cycling computer.
is this applicable for scott spark rc?
Yes it is. As long as it is the newer 2022 model, it is the same frame and headtube technology.
