- Sometimes you make mistakes on trail, but if you don’t learn from them or take time to work through them you will never learn. Owning up to my bad call yesterday was a valuable lesson for me.

My wife and I just started following you a few days ago. We wanted to start following a new youtuber doing a through hike. Great videos so far! Keep it going!
Thanks for the shout out Jess! It was cool for us too!
Cheoah Bald has long been a special place for me. My mom took me on my first backpacking trip when I was 19. NOC to Fontana. Hard and Magical. We slept on Cheoah many times together over the years. We used to do a group trip sleeping on Cheoah Bald every January. Cheoah Bald was also coincidentally our last trip together before she got cancer. Loved that my daughter wanted to do that backpacking trip for my mom’s birthday. In Cherokee lore, Cheoah Bald was the mountain of the angry hornet. That is a tough climb out of 1700’ NOC! Happy trails!
Was great to meet you :) Thank you for sharing your story with Cheoah Bald. Wish I caught it on a sunny day - I’ll just have to go back!
I'm also a very cold sleeper,it helps me sleep warm if I do something physical to warm my body before sleeping, also I've found that my puffy laid on top of my quilt is warmer than wearing it. ✌🏼
Oooh I’ll try this!
Stay warm and take care of yourself! Warm weather is coming soon
Cheers for tolerating the ghastly weather. Bravo to your fortitude. Thanks for your personal insights and trail views. What you are doing is admirable. Kudos to your day’s progress north. Wishing you peace and good fortune. Happy Trails!
Thank you! Wasn’t easy
Your attitude will help you SO much on this journey… I’m looking forward to your future posts and adventures!! Greetings from NH.
Some days are easier than others!! Thanks so much :)
Live and learn, crazy weather. Thanks for sharing
You got that right!
That shelter looks like hell on earth, lol.
Now I understand why people start this trail so early.
But this year "everybody" is starting early... 🤗
Smilin' in the rain....love it!
Good day of hiking in the rain. Kinda dreary but you did get some miles done.
Hike safe, Hike strong, Have fun!

Glad you beat the spooky weather. Always nice when nature can teach the lesson without punishment. Such a delight to be brought along this adventure with you!
Thanks Koby ❤️
Keep that positive outlook! Enjoying your perspective on trail.
Hi Sassafras, I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe.
Thank you!
What a slog of a day, but you did it and thats fantastic.
Hell yeah brother
The best part about adaptability, is rolling with whatever you choose to do....which you did. Kudos to you. Have a great hike!
Yes! Thank you!
Good luck. I plan on doing the AT in 2-3 years when I retire. The NOC is about 25 minutes from my house
You stay warm n safe out there.thanks for the video. Much love from Trail Town USA aka Damascus, Va
🙏♥️♥️
I’ll be in Damascus very soon!! Can’t wait! Thanks for watching

Looking forward to welcoming you to Trail Town USA aka Damascus, va.take care n be blessed
🙏♥️🐕
Such an admirable attitude… but that’s what it takes to finish the AT. A pleasure to witness. Ok I’m dying to see how your cold gear worked for you as I believe you are long past the Smokys. 20* comf/bag plus a Liner with Thermarest NeoAir should have been ok all in all.
Happy Trails
I maaaay have borrowed my buddy’s 0 degree quilt…. with my extreme liner and all my layers I scraped by 😂 might be the coldest sleeper on trail
I had a 30 degree quilt for frozen nights in the smokies and with all my layers on I did alright; you'll be fine!
We got super lucky with the weather! Video coming soon
Taking responsibility for your decisions...good on you!!!
Suns out guns out❤
Your facial expression near the end of this video was precious. Keep it up!
Thank you! Will do!
Being flexible is a big key to your sanity rather than being too OCD and tied down to a strict plan. Sanity or mental fortitude is important when facing so many challenging obstacles on trail. Happy Trails!
Agreed!!
You're a very positive person in the miserable weather there! Keep on doing well!
Trying my best! Thanks :)
Mighty steep going, but you made it look easy💪🏼
Thanks for sharing your adventure.
My pleasure 😊
I think I've said this before, but your positive attitude is amazing in the face of the icky weather and other hardships. This indeed will get you through all the way to Maine
That’s the hope! The real test will be when the heat arrives!!
@@JessHikesTrailsYeah , us western kids don't do well in humidity or the big darn mosquitoes
Good video on a cold rainy day 😢, so let's keep on hiking 😊
Onwards!!
Started watching you on TH-cam.. wishing you the best of luck.. when going through central pa.. Swatara Park if you need anything and if I can be able to help let me know
Awesome thank you!
New subscriber; you show a great attitude and seem very humble . Were you wearing shorts in the cold rain? Your tough . Hope yo catch some more of your posts. God Bless you & keep you safe on trail and make good decisions. 😊
Thank you! Yes shorts and tank in the rain - I was burning up climbing out of the NOC!
Misty and rainy. So much fun! You rock
😊❤️
Synthetic or down quilt? Thats what i just got. Super light! Tried it in 40 degree temps last weekend and it wasnt too bad. But i can see 30 and below being a pain.
Down! Wish I’d gone for a lower temp quilt honestly
If I was a criminal that would be The place for me.. they need game wardens on that trail checking for criminals..
It's dangerous even for them because you know they aren't All bad.. they need game wardens hanging around not to harass people but to ward off bad intentions..
It's foggy there reminds of home on Sand mountain Alabama..
You give me a 22 rifle and the mountain I'm going to live..
You're an attractive woman and alone out there stay aware of your surroundings All the time..
