Two weeks ago, I shot video of a friend drag racing motorcycles, with a Canon T2i/550d and this same lens. This was the first time for me, in nearly 20 years, shooting any video since having a Hi-8 video camcorder all those years ago. All the mistakes I made were due to me not knowing much about what I was doing (wrong camera settings), strong wind shaking my tripod, and that a T2i doesn't autofocus in video mode. But it was a watchable video that was not too terrible and the lens itself, with its big range of focal length, did a good job of allowing me to record a cool memory. I purchased it at a pawn shop in 2023, in near new looking condition, for $49 USD.
Your advice is spot on. Especially in documentary, timing and good exposure are more important than just about anything and you will get both of those when you understand your subject and know how to use your equipment. As a videographer, a lens is just a "look". Clinically sharp images have their look but security cam video has its own look and somewhere in between I guess is the 75-300.
I think in some ways this lens is better than the $2000 one and that's because it forces you to keep subjects in the middle and overtime could improve your tracking
Great question! The sample footage in this video with the lens was filmed on a Canon Rebel SL3, which is about as equivalent to a t7i as you can get! I would expect footage/ photos to look exactly the same as the sample video and photos with the 75-300 and a t7i.
I currently work for a minor league MLB draft team… I just recently got hit by a ball and broke my lens and had to pay for a new one completely out of pocket. Apon research I realized I should just buy the same lens but used for 100 dollars.
1:12 that’s exactly how it feels looking at the $$$ 🤣😂🤣😂😂 I go for “Clarity”, “Lens Correction”, “Texture” to help me get the look with the light touch Vignette for added focus
I have similar equipment, a 60d with that lens, and an SX60hs, in good light, the Bridge camera wins hands down. But it falls apart as soon as the sun starts settings, so no chance getting any owls or bats in at dusk. If you would rather know for sure you're going to get the shot, even if it's not perfectly sharp or as close as possible, go with the DSLR.
I have a question i dropped my lens like 4 years ago. Is the auto focus smooth when taking photos with this lens? is there resistance when manual focusing? i dont know if my lens is broken or not(I do remember stuggling Keith this camera but i am confunde). I also don't want to buy a new one to see this is just how the lens is haha.
I have dropped this lens a few times as well and it has seemed to hold up. The autofocus isn’t extremely smooth, but it shouldn’t be noticeably bad if that makes sense. To use manual focus you have to switch the button over to manual focus because otherwise there will be resistance and the autofocus will sort of try to fight back. Once switched over the manual focus should be fairly touchy and should have no resistance. Let me know if you have anymore questions! Hope this helps!
When you shoot a video, are you looking to capture the event or are you looking for little barely noticeable green highlights that I have seen even in some "professional" Hollywood films. People don't care about these little insignificant details, so long as it is watchable, and you can recognise the faces, the objects and the colour rendering is adequate that's all that matters if you're thinking of becoming a professional photographer/videographer in order to earth your living that's different. Some of the best movies were shot with a lot less expensive gear and equipment.
Best video so far👏
You’re too kind 😃
maybe due to the onlyfans joke 🤣

Have a great day 🙏🏾 Thank you for posting this video.
That foreclosure skit was too funny!

I say this lens is pretty good I shot some baseball clips with it , using a 125 shutter speed with the canon m50 and it came out crisp asf
I agree, certainly a lot of drawbacks, but given the price and other zoom lens alternatives it is such an amazing value and can deliver great results!
did u need a lens adapter or no
@@ShowtimeMcano, this is an EF lens
You need the adapter right?
@@KimberlyCooley yuh for the canon m50
Hi. What kind of variable nd filter you use in this lens? Cheapest to expensive. Thanks
I think in some ways this lens is better than the $2000 one and that's because it forces you to keep subjects in the middle and overtime could improve your tracking
Thanks for making this short and to the point
what camera body do you use I'm looking to get this lens for a cannon t7i but don't know if there comparable

For video i use it all the time but not for photos because you have to heavily edit to get rid of the fringing and aberrations

Ima need that triple and OF clip sometime! Love the content, always learning from you mr TH-cam 😭🖤
I think those both can be arranged 🤔
this bro deserves more subs
such a professional man
I learn from you 🤝
Is it compatible with canon eos rp?
It is, but you would need an ef to RF adapter and it would have a crop since it’s an apsc lens
Canon 4000 d with 75-300mm or sx70hs? which one is best for wild life photography?

I have a Canon R50, what adapter would I need to be able to use this lens?
You will need an EF to RF adapter!
quality content per usual 🫶🏼
🥰
for your money, a very good telephoto lens
Couldn’t agree more!

@@ebayless thanks a lot!
Hey, wondering if this lens is parfocal or not?
No it isn’t. The only lenses that are parfocal are typically going to be cinema lenses!
this guy seriously knows what he’s talking about 🧐
He’s alright, kinda smells bad tho 😷
Does it work for football photography?
Yes! I have never tried it for football, but should be a great starter option for it!
How far were you shooting from the subject if you don’t mind me asking?
I was probably about 150 feet from them.
@@ebayless thanks for the reply!
I’m having issues when it comes to keeping the subject in focus with the auto focus. Any suggestions?
The autofocus isn’t great, but maybe as long as your subject isn’t obstructed it does fairly well.
Very helpful video 👌
Glad I could help! 😁
thanks brother
Glad this helped!
This lens sucks but it’s really good.
