Amazing how Voja's quick overviews are 3 X 30mins long! He does consider everything! Device looks amazing, so many features for students and professionals!
Deffo going for the Supernote A5X I have literally spent weeks reading and watching everything online. Your channel, CPO and Morning Coach amongst others have been great. This is the second time I have come back to watch these three video. My mind is made up. 👋🏼🇬🇧
@@ernestintownandjackintheco1024 - that's what I was wondering -lol!! I have Boox Nova 3 and am now looking for a larger version - I am dithering between the Note Air and the Supernote.
@@honeychurchgipsy6 Here’s a random question - do you have any idea how to back up your notes on your Onyx device so that you can put them back onto a new Onyx device? I just learned that my back up option of going to dropbox merely turns them into PDFs and is a one-way sync.
@@ernestintownandjackintheco1024 - If you watch the Big Boox Guide series - Library synchronization - he goes into what apps he uses. I'm rewatching it now - hope it's helpful. By the way: does your name come from literature? It sounds like a novel.
@@honeychurchgipsy6 yes, I have watched and re-watched my deep guide on this point and it is actually very helpful except as specifically regards Notes. In the big Boox guide, he talks about using Autosync with Google Drive and being able to clone his devices. However, specifically on notes he is rather vague. He has a folder marked “notes“ and says that he can get his notes over to the new device, but it is within a folder in his Google Drive. Are these PDFs of his notes (as far as I can tell that’s all you can get when you export to a third-party rather than using Onyx’ own cloud service). If you have any insight on this point, I’d be happy to hear it. I did find a way to suit my needs: in notes there is a back up and restore feature and you can make a back up and then drop that back up onto your desktop computer and if you put it onto a new device in the proper place, they will transfer all your notes properly. The name is from Oscar Wilde‘s the importance of being earnest 😊
Thanks for the great review. Your analysis is alway very fine-grained and exact to the dot. I went ahead and pre-order before finishing watching the 3rd episode! Now I wish the Thailand customs is not going to give me too much headache on the tablet.
I originally liked the Remarkable, then the Boox caught my attention but now I'm beginning to think Supernote is the device that would actually make my life easier as someone that likes making notes and loves organization tools. I like the small details about this device and I think that's what sets it apart like the table of contents/title tool and keyword search ability, usb port, Bluetooth, and custom template ability to name a few. Silly question but can you print documents from this device? Can you screen share, like the Remarkable? Is there spellcheck? These little details can make or break a potential sale.
There are some basic hacks available that COMPLETELY transform the RM2. Like, impossibly good functionality. Unfortunately, using it may void your warranty.
Thanks so much for these excellent videos. I've been exploring the reMarkable 2 but think I might return it simply because of the awkwardness of it's file management system. But one thing I'm curious about is whether or not the Supernote A5x offers support for left-handed users? reMarkable has left-handed mode but it's difficult to use because they still leave the circle x button in the top left corner, which I hit ALL THE TIME. So to use the device at all I have to hide all the tools and then call them back up when I want to do anything, which is a pain. Do you know how Ratta handles this? And if you've already covered it in one of your videos please point me to where I can find this information. Thanks again for all that you do. Great work.
Hello, I have received my A5X and need an 'In Depth Guide' to help me get started and familiar with the device. A tutorial style session would be helpful. Is this available?
Re: Kindle & ADE Apps for Reading on A5X I just received my A5X & it is a wonderful device! However, I don't see the "Kindle" app on the "right side" bar as it was displayed on Voja's A5X in the Deep Guide In-Depth Review Part 2 of 3 from January 12/13, 2021. Is the Kindle app somewhere else like in a Sub-Menu on the A5X? It would be great to have both the Kindle & ADE apps on the A5X (ADE in particular for library books). Great job on the A5X 👍👍 review & that's why I got the A5X.
Cool features. Makes me think if I made a mistake in buying papyr than this one. Anyway, I love my papyr because of its size too. Hope quirklogic would incorporate more needed updates to papyr. Maybe, I'll buy a5x for meetings and conferences as this is more handy than papyr.
I think in 4:56 you meant supernote instead of BOOX. As far as I know, the BOOX platform does not have any way to bookmark/create TOC/add symbol (star) when taking notes.
Which stylus would you select if you were to only purchase one - I was considering heart of metal but is it a significant upgrade over the one that comes with it if its just the materials on the outside of the pen?
For me, Standard works great, the only thing to keep in mind is the patron like sound that I mentioned. I love it, but not everyone will. If you want it silent, the Heart Of Metal is better.
Could you talk more about interoperability and sustainability? Meaning: How are books transferred? How are notes transferred? Do you need proprietary software to transfer data? do you need a proprietary service to transfer docs? What are the limitations taking DRM into account? How can you view selections, annotations and notes on the computer? Do you need proprietary software? Do the selections, annotations and notes use an open file format? Do they use a specific stadard? Why is all this important? Because generally books last for a very long time. Talking 10+ years. Who knows which companies/services/OSs will be around then. If you find your notes, annotations and selections... or even books ... unaccessible because a) the device broke b) you didnt update the device c) the company shut down d) some service (e.g. dropbox) shut down, that would be pretty unpleasant. If you can't access your books/ notes because you changed your operating system (e.g. to linux) or you didn't change your operating system (e.g. not updating you apple device), would also be unpleasant.
Have you tried using the writing editing features in word? (Downward slash to create a space to or 'V' or upsidedown 'V' to insert a handwritten word then double tap to convert to text etc?)
@@MyDeepGuide it's quite neat for a little editing. Really enjoy your reviews. I learn something new every time. PS I have the A6X and it's great for my use. Mainly note taking and it's easy to carry around..if we ever get out of lockdown lol. I like the form factor, in that, it looks like a book.
Will this support links inside of a PDF? ie. a daytimer/organizer PDF that has internal links to other parts of the same PDF document? Thankyou for the videos!
Yes, but not in a way you probably imagine. When practicing, i usually think about a cycle of chords that I'll use, arpeggios and then i just improvise while the cycle is going. This is an ongoing exercise that i do both on bass and guitar, as it helps with understanding the fretboard on a more intuitive level. When learning a new song, I try to do it by ear as much as possible, and then i double check with tabs to see where i was off. When composing, I record the audio and video while sketching out ideas, and then i go directly into the DAW to continue making a song. I skip the writing down notes part, pretty much entirely. When planning the chord cycles and arpeggios, and when making remarks about a newly learned songs, then i use these devices to write things down. I also use them when learning new bits of music theory, to write down remarks and exercises. That's how it works for me :)
Not confident at all, since I don't have such information. However, seeing how they keep updating the platform regularly, it's not a long shot at all. But specifics i do not have.
I got the RM1 last year but now I wish I had waited for supernote a5x, if you had to pick one for note taking for school and work, which one would you choose? I’m really inclined about switching to the a5x
A5X without a shadow of a doubt. Yes, rM2 has faster writing feel, looks sexier and is thinner, but for me, at the end of the day, none of that matters for a device that you need to use on a daily basis. If it's a device you want to admire and look at, but not really depend on as a tool, them rM2 makes sense. For everything else, A5X is simply a much better device and a much better platform.
I don't know about that particular drawing way, but I tried it in several different ways and it worked for each attempt. I don't think it cares how it's drawn, as long as the 5 corners and intersecting lines are present and clear.
These are not available in India. Just imagine the numbers of supply requirements and the scale operation that will lead to mass peoduction, thereof, cost-pricing per unit. Else, till such time, depend upon enormous unsustainable practice of depending upon paper.
