Jon get in contact with Bradley Friesen he is a heli pilot based in Canada ( he was in caseys vlog ) and he said after casey ended his vlog he will switch to you , i guess everybody would love to see you and him in the Canadian mountains maybe some heli skiing. Hit him up , he also started vlogging ( not daily ) but he's a great guy with a passion so combine you 2 and him and smth great will come up. BTW you're getting better with RED everyday, i guess you're setting new standards in this vlogging game here :D

The RED looks amazing in the slow shots w/ the background music (like 0:37 until 1:15 and 3:14 until 3:35). But I liked it more when Leica was used in the normal shots (Normal speed and when you guys are talking). The RED feels too cropped in during the normal parts, like everything feels too close such as everyone's faces (For example 3:39 onwards). :-)
100% agree, working on that. The issue is that the camera is so new that it does now have all the software relesed yet. once that comes we will be able to shoot in different settings making the shots way wider. Now we have an 18mm lens on but the crop on the stting we have makes it a 47mm. So just hang tight, updates are coming!
To the people who say it's boring when they just film a "normal day" and nothing "entertaining.. But that's the thing they dont have to do extreme entertaining stuff all the time. This is their life and they're vlogging each and every day of the year. It's enough that we just get to see their day and how it looks like those days when they're not travelling the world! They do more entertaining and xtreme stuff than anyone. They should not need to force "entertaining" content, for me this is entertaining. I believe that if they would feel the pressure to get "good" content everyday it would be so false and not fun to watch and they would not be as happy as they are now.

Even if there's not loads going on in these vlogs they are so watchable because the video is gorgeous! I bet there are pro film makers who would kill for your gear and Marcus editing skills.

Yes, they used to film 4k with the leica, but when they upload it on youtube it goes down to 1080p, but now its officially 4k! :)
Marcus replied to my comment once that they film in 1080 with the Leica since the 4K files are so difficult to work with.

Creator Fawad given that they shoot lots of stuff with high frame rates they most likely shoot 6K and master in 4K since the Epic-W can only shoot 25/30fps in 8K & 7K. Only the RED Weapon can do 75fps in 8K.

Random challenge for you Marcus and Jon, you have amazing equipment but for the aspiring youtuber we start off with the most basic of cameras (with no lenses sometimes just an iphone, with no editing software) would you guys be up for the challenge of doing a super low budget version as a blog and make it look good, i don't know why i think that would inspire a whole slew of hundreds of thousands of people, you're not just a regular vlogger so it'd be an interesting perspective to see what you do when you don't have the amazing cameras and another type of editing program. Thanks so much!

When I started in the business I shot on a Newman Sinclar, I edited on a Moviola and joined each 35mm shot with cement. What a joy to see such quality from the Red. I look forward to more montage, after all it is so easy on FCP. Best wishes Barney

Calfreezy I think they show there camera gear in vlog 177, so you can see what camera they use and also the lenses. also really like your videos!!

@calfreezy the lut they use adds a lot to the picture quality tough, but the camera by all means but for the full look you have to use their lut
I have never seen someone so concentrated and focused while cleaning. Jon looks like he is doing open heart surgery..... Love your vlog!

this camera doesn't really do low light, it's designed to be well lit in a cinema environment :/

Yea. Though it takes a lot of time to get to know a camera well! So I have no doubt it will be better and better every single day. But these are areas that you should focus on for improvement!

Marcus, the filming and editing is breathtaking, easily the best vlogging channel or channel in general, I find myself refreshing youtube and waiting for your video! So good!!
Ignore what people were complaining about, the video is stellar. And of course when you have that high quality of video it's not gonna get stabilized with a program because that just downgrades the quality. Everything is great and naturally flows.
These new RED vlogs look like a crossover of cinema and model shots 🔥 this channel will be 1m subs in 6 months!

Maybe it's just the fact that their filming on a RED camera, maybe it really is the video quality. But watching the vlogs reminds me of The Art of Flight...I don't know, it just feels like a super cool Red Bull documentary, I approve the new setup!

The 7" screen has focus peaking which shows you which parts of the frame are in focus. And they've had 227 days worth of practice

Personally I think they need eachother. Without Jon no crazy / fun activities to fill the vlogs and without Markus no crazy editing. So they balance eachother which makes these vlogs so good! And Janni ofcourse is a joyful lady to watch!

Monaco has its flaws, but I mostly like it. It's certainly special. But the property prices... I remember visiting a long time ago, asking how much it would cost to buy a place there. Astounded by the cost. "Will wait for a financial crisis before I even think of it again". Well, visited again recently, and asked again, realizing it would be even more expensive. But no guess came close to the astronomic new prices for buying a decent place in Monte Carlo now... It's a joke.
There was an opportunity to buy at lower prices around the world after the financial crises 2008 (Dubai 60% cheaper), but Monaco seems immune to all crisis so far.
Jon/Marcus even the mundane shot of the blinds opening, looks sooooo good in slo mo on the Red..

I love these guys, and Janni! they have great personalties and such mellow awesome attitudes about life, their general demeanor is so carefree and excited for adventures but I must admit a small part of me wishes they saved some of the $$ they spent on the RED and went on more adventures like Komodo island, bali, LA My favorite "shots" from all their blogs are john and Janni's morning walks in spain, the gokarting/trackday from marcus and John, their LA hiking shots, and the entire bali/komodo trip and anything on the boat with Richard... and of course the formentera/mallorca trip...where john was director/actor/producer....on a boat. I know they are just getting started with the RED, but so far low light looks and sounds pretty rough...needs color grading (saw johns comment about waiting on the It/Coding/programing science") and i can't tell if they are switching to their iPhone to film in the house but the video quality even in 4k on my mac does not look near as crisp, sharp, or color tone quality as the old set up. I'm sure with their passion they'll only improve in time... but i agree i wish they worked on their "style/shot creativity" more then worried about equipment... instead focus more on high quality ARTISTIC content...because I can tell they have the ability in them and the PASSION. My thoughts are tho that perhaps the RED just isn't a productive setup for their mobile/traveling style of life...I honestly think it would be better for longer form format of 20 - 30 min... maybe if they cut back from daily blogging to weekly...and did a mini-movie using the red about an entire adventure that might make more sense, but i honestly miss them using just the leica and a gimbal and the simplicity and mobility they had with the smaller cameras and drones. keep up the Good work guys... love watching.

The new camera looks great. Not sure if its just me but it seems you are not using a wide angle lens, at least not today. The faces seemed a little closer than they used to be on the old camera. This camera seems to capture a lot of light though, beautiful colours.
Really digging the vlogs.

Damn boys! the new camera looks sick ! i love the 4K slowmo shots it delivers, i started watching your blog last Tuesday, and i started with the first one(001) and today i finally caught up with the most resent one, i have to say the you guy are amazing, you truly inspire people to work hard and to seize the day and make the best and most productive as possible, keep up the good work ! and also, all the vlog's from warm places really brightens the awful weather here in Sweden.

Jon, I like your vlogs but today there was almost no content. I feel like you just went to get a coffee and it took the whole day... You should focus a bit more on doing cool/fun/entertaining stuff and a bit less on cameras and getting slow mo shots of garbage trucks haha. I'm sure there is plenty of things to do around monaco and especially with good weather! Anyways, love the edits et the change of music in recent vlogs! :)

Yeah you got a point but from a viewers point of view it would be nice to see some adventure/activities other than juste going out and taking a coffee (ok today the battery of the RED died down..).
Ye well they are doing adventures/actvities alot so when there comes a normal day there is no point to whine on them! They do more adventure and activies than any of us who watch this does, and they are normal human beings aswell, when you're following daily vloggers you gotta be able to appreciate and think these kind of vloggs are good aswell! :) But i understand that you think they're not as fun to watch but you gotta have some of theese days aswell to be able to do alot of fun activites.
Yeah, this vlog is pretty content-free. Somehow they take the second smallest country on earth and make it seem even smaller. If you know Monaco or have a map, you can see they don't go more than about a 5-10 minute walk from the apartment: from Larvotto to Casino square / Metropole, that's it. I think they've only been to Fontvieille twice not counting the heliport. Condamine once. Never Monaco-Ville, Carrefour, Exotic Garden, Rosarie, Japanese Garden, etc.
They should also get out into the Cote d'Azur more - take the Red to St Tropez, Antibes, the light there was good enough to inspire Picasso. Fly the drone over the oligarch estates at Cap d'Antibes. So many more interesting places to go.
But, congrats on the new camera anyways (despite it being so overkill lol). The footages look amazing. Looking forward to better vlogs in the future!

Only thing that bothers me alot is the amound of noise in the lowlight image and the sort of flickering image when there's alot of details (for example at 5:00 ) although I think that might be because of youtube's poor image processing.

With this red camera your videos became purely amazing! The look that this sensor produces is awesome. The colors are similar to the bmd pocket cam, which I think is the best in that regard among all bmd cameras, but this red has incredible slowmo and 8k resolution. Hopefully, blackmagic will introduce pocket v2 someday with the similar specs as this red cam.

Anyways, just wanted to tell you that now It is much more pleasure to watch your videos than it was with leicas. In my opinion it was a right decision to go this "filmic" road with the red instead of staying on the videoish look of your previous cameras.
