Loretta Lynn Is a prolific songwriter. She literally has boxes and boxes of unrecorded songs on sheets of paper. A few years back Jack White, of White Stripes fame, was visiting Loretta not far from his home in Nashville when he pulled out one of her songs from a box in her attic that was called 'Portland, Oregon' They later recorded the song together in 2004 and that collaboration went on to win a Grammy for Loretta and White for Country Duet. The album that it was on is called 'Van Lear Rose' and it also won Loretta Lynn a Grammy for Country Album that year.
You have to follow this up with her song "You Ain't Woman Enough To Take My Man". She's a total badass. Along the same lines is another great song by Gretchen Wilson called "Homewrecker." Loretta is old school country at its finest. She has some great duets with Conway Twitty, most notably "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" Speaking of Conway, "Hello, Darlin'", "Slow Hand", "That's My Job"...honestly, I could suggest every single song by him because he was (is) a true country legend.
