I actually met Darly Worley at the first WWE tribute to the troops event. I was the NCOIC of his security detail. About a year later after I had redeployed, I was doing security for a concert of his in Colorado Springs, CO. It was before his show during the meet and greet and after all the meet and greet people left, I walked up to him and asked if he remembered me. Well I was wearing a cowboy hat at the time, he was like you look very familiar. Asked me to take off the cowboy hat and he was instantly you were my security in Iraq. Definitely a moment I will never forget . Awesome dude

I was so confused when my brother came home from Iraq and Afghanistan deployments. He was gone for 3 years without me seeing him. He was different when he came back. He said to listen to Darryl Worley's song I Just Came Back from a War. It really put things in perspective to listen to understand it, not just to enjoy the music.
Y'all might enjoy it. Not even asking for a reaction. Just for y'all to give it a listen.

One of the best "celebrity" stories that came from 9-11 is Steve Buschemi (sp) sneaking into his old firehouse, suiting up and helping with the rescue efforts. Prior to him becoming an actor, he was a firefighter.

I absolutely loved this reaction! You are right, there are so many young adults and children that only watch videos at school. My children had an assignment to watch said videos at home and I will be honest, I cried my heart out all over again. I remember talking to my mom about it and she compared it to President Kennedy being shot. I could only see the videos. I will never forget that fear, the hysteria, and the unity we had as a country. I miss that unity now. Great song and great review, my guys!

The song was released on March 10, 2003. The memory of 9-11 was fading for those who lost nothing, but those that lost much felt it like yesterday. Middle East countries were lobbying for the US to take the video off the screen. It is this context in which the song was written.

Well, those of us old enough to REALLY grasp the gravity didn't FORGET, I think the problem is that we didn't make a priority for younger generations to understand. To put that into perspective, a friend of mine deployed right after HS graduation, he married his HS sweetheart just prior to leaving, 18 years later his SON shipped out to the same war. Horrible. They both came home, but the younger adults now have grown up with the bitching and complaining about us being there, their teachers telling them how horrible we are, etc
And we didn't do OUR job well enough of balancing that out with the counter-argument

  • @ArleneAdkinsZell

This was a wonderful reaction, this song always brings me a big range of emotions. Sadly, many many Americans choose to not remember, it is easier to pretend that life is rosy and they don't want to know that other people are paying for the easy life they live. It doesn't matter how poor or how hard life is in America, it is still better than 2/3 of the world, our media and education system do a good job of keeping those facts out of our mind.

I thought it was a horrible accident at first and was hoping no one was in the buildings, only to think about it harder and realize what time it would be over there. I did nothing else all day, even though I'd had lots of plans. Can't remember what those plans were now, they're unimportant... but I remember my thoughts, feelings and movements of that day. Can't remember what I had for dinner 3 nights ago but 9/11 will be ingrained on my memory forever.

My daughter was in the 5th grade and when 9/11 happened, she said lots of students overhead teachers talking about "the towers" and she said that her and the rest of the kids thought they were talking about cell phone towers. But you can believe she fully knows about it as does her younger brother. I pulled up the footage and made them watch it. Every year on 9/11, we watched a little bit of the footage, so they would never forget. We did that until they got out on their own. Some might think that's wrong, but oh well.....

Beautiful reaction guys & just in tears.
This song has long been on my playlist; when it plays now, after recent events, I get incredibly sad😔 And as y’all say- that’s about all I’ll say.
After the attacks, my then-young son asked me why I cried every time someone talked about 9/11 or it came on TV. I told him the simple truth: Because Mommy misses 9/10.
But y’all are 💯correct- On 9/12 we were so united. We were one party and one race: American. How it should be ALWAYS.
The only good thing- and I do mean ONLY😩- about getting older is we may be gone before the whole thing implodes😏
Worley has a great song that I believe to also be an important song, esp for returning soldiers & those who love & care for them!! “I Just Came Back From a War’. Really hope y’all will consider reacting🙏🏼
Always fun & informative; Thank You!

Unfortunately, I believe you’re right again! As Dustin said, there are sooooo many people who were either too young to understand or not born yet! I know they don’t teach about it in schools, which they should, because I have had to educate my youngest son who was born in 2004! I have always spoken to him about that time in our lives, because my Aunt had just gotten off the subway in the Trade Center when the second plane struck. Had my little cousin not made her late to work, she would have been in the North Tower…..it was also the same cousin who got sick, made my Aunt stay home, so the missed the explosion in 93! Anyway, my son took a school trip to DC and New York in the 8th grade. Before he left, I explained the significance of him being on that Sacred Ground as well as being gratefully respectful while visiting there, Arlington Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. I feel it’s important for us to teach our children true history and the rights and wrongs of it all so as not to repeat it! They NEED to know!

This is one of my absolute favorites! And to answer his question… No I have not forgotten!
I know y'all don't want to get political on here, and I don't blame you. However, I watched Dustin and his emotion that was all over his face. I'd love to hear what he has to think about this song. I worked at the law firm that Filed the 9/11 litigation. One of our cocounsel worked in the north tower. He was an elderly man who had never been late a day in his life for work. He was always the first one there and the last one to leave. On 9/11, he was late for work! Had I not heard it out of his mouth, I wouldn't have believed it. A friend of mine from high school worked in the Pentagon at that time. It just so happened that he was in another state and work related issues.
Y'all might want to take a listen to his other song called "I Miss My Friend." It's a really good song.

This song is going to mean different things to different ages of people. For me, it hits close to home. My ex was Military Intelligence and we lived in Northern Germany during the mid to late 80's. Kids couldn't play in sand boxes. We couldn't be out on the economy after a certain time of day. We had to keep our curtains pulled. Soldiers with M16's guarding the kids as they came and went from school. It was a difficult time to live in after the bombing of the bar/night club. Each generation seems to have a "Do You Remember" event Going back decades. Our country carries many scars, we don't need to ever forget. Forgive, not live in fear but stay cautious, yes. Great song.

Sadly, I don't remember anything about that day as I was only 4 years old, but that doesn't lessen the hurt and sadness I feel for everything that happened that day 💔

This is such a great song and thank you so much to the lady who requested that song. It is heartbreaking how much unity has been lost and how much hate their is for our country. The new song by Tom MacDonald and John Rich is wonderful because it reminds us if we lose our country or the whole world what have we lost?

I don’t know about anyone else on here but I can see the passion you both have for our Country . I will never forget 9/11 how could someone that was alive and an adult forget what happened to fellow Americans . Nor will I forget the days we said goodbye to our cousins as they left for Vietnam and when they came home the look in their eyes had changed . I work in the School District here in our town . The children growing up now days have no idea about 9/11 it’s not really discussed even in High School . War is a horrid thing but sometimes necessary. I would subscribe to a channel where we could talk politics all day shut yea . Love y’all’s reactions And yea we like bourbon here also !

I wrote a poem about 911 shortly after it happened. I was going to see Darrell Worley in concert after this song came out, and I sent a copy of my poem to his management before his concert, hoping he would get it. Unfortunately, he didn't mention it, and I never did find out if he actually got it. He did put on a good show, tho.

I love this song. It says a lot about our society and how we treat people today. You're right people have forgotten and it is so sad to see how people are treating each other.

Unfortunately, yes, the country as a whole has forgotten. But you can best believe I have not and never will! My dad was a firefighter, I was in second grade when it happened, and I can tell you the name of the teacher in the class that cut the TV on. I remember sitting in the classroom wondering, will my dad be going there? I have made it a point to not work in any way every year on 9/11, and I believe it needs to be a nationwide "holiday"!

I was six years old, home sick from school, and remember watching something on TV when the news broadcast cut through. I vividly remember peeking out and watching as the towers collapsed. I'll never forget where I was or what I was doing.

I will always remember it, I was 16, homeschooled and just remember my mom calling me into the living room to see the TV. It was one of the scariest and saddest moments. Seeing the people jumping from the buildings and hearing my mom praying is just an image I'll never get out of my head. Also going to bed at night and wondering what was going to happen next and where...that's why when I hear people like Ilhan Omar make statements like it was nothing just pisses me off to the core...Great reaction y'all, God bless!

Just for a frame of reference, Darryl released this song in 2003, when he felt people had forgotten. Although I didn't know anyone who lost their life on 9/11, but as an American, this song hits hard, even today. I will never forget.

It’s sad that it takes a tragedy to bring unity and love as a whole by people. This should be an everyday feeling to love and protect each other and this country. Loved this video. The 911 memorial is beautiful. I’ve taken my kids 3 times already this year. NYC hits you in the feels for so many things and it makes me love it more every time I’m there ❤️ Never Forget🇱🇷❤️🗽

Well said, Keith. Every word. I was 10 years old. I still remember. We all say "never forget", but we need to do a better job as a society of holding ourselves to that, because the memory of the heroes from that day will never die as long as we don't let it.

I definitely remember I was a young Airman First Class in Security Forces stationed at Whiteman AFB in Missouri in the middle of a big MajCom inspection. Just got to the dorms from a 14 hr shift Seen the news got recalled and went right back to the squadron and redrew my weapon and dawned my battle rattle and worked another 19 days straight. Seen the first offensive strike from the US take off to go bomb Afghanistan from our base which was B-2 stealth bombers our home base birds which at the time was the longest sorties in history like 32 hours. Took off from Missouri bombed Afghanistan refueled in the air and landed in Missouri wheels never touched nowhere but home base. I have not and never will forget that day!
