I'm only 5 minutes into the video so far, but this has some of my favorite Chapper's playing in a while. Not because it's radically different that what he has played in other videos, but because this sort of pedal and demo really seems to show Rob in his element. I enjoy all the Anderton's guys (Bea and Pete are some of my favorite guitar players period), but I think Rob is often overlooked/dissed in the comments. I think we should give Rob credit for being a really solid rock/metal player and remember that all the guys have their own niche.
Man I got extreamly excited! Captain has been reborn like a Phoenix into the fires of metal🤘he's growing so much as a player, really cool thing to watch over the years how hes losing the shyness to the fretboard, makes me want to practises more! Thanks lads
Love your shows, been a fan for years and bought gear based on your demo's. Gotta say, in this case if you want good thorough demo of bogner red and blue old bigger and new smaller check out Pete thorn demos from 9 years ago and 3 years ago. You guys rock and your banter is hilarious. Thanks!!!
I've grown tired of all the over the top Overdrive/Distortion/Fuzz being more important than the guitars natural sound. If you love that, love it. I have an overdrive pedal, Boss DN2, just enough to hear the Overdrive when I play a chord, but not when I play a melody line, or lead. Rock on you guys. I like most of your videos.
At 3:35 Rob plays the guitar/amp before pedals are applied. Sounds great! Would like to know his thoughts for setting up the amp's gain for drive pedals playing into it. I've thought with, say a fender amp, you turn the clean channel volume up to the point of breakup as the starting point. The demo sounds like pedals are played into the high gain side of the amp.
I gotta say honestly you didn’t do the Ecstasy Red justice. I have both the ecstasy red and the be od deluxe. They are extremely similar sounding pedals but to my ear the Bogner is slightly more “fizzy” with a bit more mid focus. Both sound great but the Friedman is slightly more versatile in my opinion. I also don’t like to use pedals into amps with breakup. It colors the pedals and I feel for a demos I would use a deluxe reverb as a clean platform. Just my 2 cents even though nobody asked for it.
On a constructive note... Is there a way to display the graphic of the equalizer you are using to record in a window on the screen? Better yet, faded in the background across the entire screen. It would be cool to see the acoustic nuances between axes, pedals, cabs, etc. (sorry to waste your time if I'm the only one...adjusting an oscilloscope can mezmerize me at times) spiffy guitars....the added cost of buying another mirror so you can play it and look at it would be...justified.
1:08 that was... actually some really tasteful shredding Rob! I see that practicing fingerstyle has been doing good things to your phrasing :D I had to go fingerstyle for the same reason, don't feel bad haha everyone gets in their own ruts
Remember the video shootout you guys did with the valve Vox vs. the solid-state Fender amps? In my opinion the solid-state sounded a bit cold and lifeless. I would love to see a similar "combo amp" shootout using a hybrid. Perhaps a Vox AC15VR hybrid vs. a Vox AC10C1 all tube or something? Godspeed Chappers and the Captain.
That BE OD sounds so nice. I know it isn't a tube screamer, but as an overdrive would you use it similarly to glue the guitar and head together. Prob wouldn't use in front of lead channel of 6505+ but I use a TScreamer lol. Gives crunch channel vibes lol blues as he'll!, even dirty blues! Maybe less sludgy stoner territory with a fuzz lol. Love y'all cap and chap. Come to Tacoma WA for a clinic and meet and greet session(guitar center/ Ted Brown music store tour!! Still haven't played a Chapman :( : \
Anyone wanting a clearer more open sounding pedal with a lot of gain needs to try the Suhr Eclipse. I did a shootout with the Eclipse and the BEOD deluxe and the Suhr was a clear winner.
Apples and oranges. Bogner sounds more like a Plexi, while the Friedman sounds more like… a Friedman. I have both and they’re both great. I use the Bogner blue more than any other overdrive , just my preference
Lee and Rob, can you do a Thinline shoutout, I bought the Squier over the MIM because to my ears and hands the Squier plays better, and maybe I'm tone-deaf but they sound almost the same!!!! Happy New Year from México!!!!!
Have you ever done a blind fold test , where you get handed the same guitar twice? Or play two of the same model. See if the modern builds have consistency ? Or noticeable differences unplugged or cranked ?
mcleroy1967..... please reconsider what you just typed while you shoot spitballs at a pic of your least favorite politician before cleaning your monitor. Fold a few paper airplanes to flight test next if BINGO still sounds appealing. best wishes for the new year!
@@PeteHawthorne the jackson may be hideous but i played one yesterday and those pickups are my new holy grail. Tighest most articulate passives I've ever tried.
HypersonicMonkeyBrains not sure how much the schecter is but the white Jackson that chappers is playing is massively reduced and £400-£500, I tried it out in store a few weeks ago and it felt great, the only reason I didn’t get it was because it didn’t have a Floyd and I was after a Floyd guitar
That Schecter C6 pro is AWESOME!!!! The Jackson is a lovely lady as well. Me personally, I like a Bogner clean channel with Friedman in the dirty channel. Mmmmm.
I wonder why the Bogners sounded like ass. The Red sounded especially terrible here, yet it sounded pretty damn good on their Ecstasy/Uber/LaGrange shootout. Rob even said something about it immediately sounding “better than just about anything he’s ever heard”. The Red has been my main high gain on my board since 2013 and this didn’t do it justice. I believe these new mini pedals added a high frequency control on the side or bottom. Perhaps it was set to super grainy, poo mode;) ? Friedman’s sounded killer
I love the sound out of that Friedman od Deluxe but before I buy it I want to hear it through a katana Please Captain let me hear it through a Katana That pedal show has not taken up the challenge I don't think they like the Katana
Captain with the Schecter. Times have changed so much
Captain in the Drop D tuning. Holy sugar.
Yes they have
Now that's something I never thought I'd see
and diminished chords, some crunchy riffing in that opening sequence.
He'll be playing Blues/Doom Metal in no time.
The Captain with a pointy guitar? What sorcery is this?
Definitely Not Randy Mack And someone finally got through to Rob that the hat was terrible.
The sorcery is called "We haven't sold out of these guitars that we thought we'd sell out of, so here's a reminder that they're here."
i think chappers runs things now.....
Exactly my first thought.
Definitely Not Randy Mack its not pointy though... someone should give him a Jackson Randy Rhoads now thats a pointy guitar.
That Bogner Blue sounded really nice to my ears.
BOOOST! Rory your editing is fantastic. Whatever Lee pays you it isn't enough.
Next week... The Captain announces his upcoming partnership with BC Rich
HAHAHA
Maybe Anderson's bought the company...

I agree! That Freedman pedal had Rob ripping it up! Nice playing Rob! 3:50
really longing for Pete and Ariel/mick in hawai shirts doing something musical and amazing.
Uo
Uoh
Agreed, tasteful playing makes a big difference.
Really???? C'mon man. It doesn't matter if they riff some blues or vamp some jazz or shred. They are laying it down!!!! Some people.... gawd...

Practice*
Brilliant intro jam, loved it!
Geeze that opening riff was dark af. Really refreshing to hear Lee comfortably play some metal
Mini Blue for the win!
Excellent. More overdrive pedals. Just what the world needed.
I mean, that BE OD Deluxe sounds pretty amazing to be honest.
right ?!?!? ... I just finished paying off my Tumnus OD by Wampler and I haven't even ORDERED my Carl Martin Plexitone OD yet !!! :(
You know whats up lol although, im a tone chaser, so endless selection really isn't making my life any easier lol
I’ve got a Bogner La Grange and it’s amazing. That Bogner Blue though... ooft! I’ve just made a mess.
The disappearing cup gag gets me every time.
Same here. I try to catch it sneak in and come back lol

Schecters have never caught my eye until this video, those are stunning
Schecter plus red pedals sounds great together. Glad you guys are showing schecter some love. It’s been awhile.
the captain's guitar is the greatest guitar to grace the planet, love Schecter c-6 pros and I'm glad they're showing it some love
can we please get a supercut of all of Rory's 5-10 second editing outros?
Wanna learn to solo like Rob, his style is just....AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Maybe I’ll get a Friedman pedal since I can’t afford the BE100 amp? Nice demo!

Bogner ,Friedman, = Jerry Cantrell
I know they're a smaller builder, but Kingsley pedals (as seen on That Pedal Show) are just divine.
Bogner Blue sounds great!
Rory, outstanding.
Forever the under-appreciated genious of this channel!

no se si comprarlo o no .. al parecer .. para el friedman nesecitas o se nesecita un suplemento extra
para levantarle el sonido .. !?

Great demo but could you do it again with cheaper solid state amps for those of us that only really play at home on small amps
Gross
I prefer the Friedman BeOD as well, but I must say that Bogner has this great bass end going for it.
The Friedman takes some beating. I have one & it’s great
Jackson Guitars finally you've come to your senses😄☺
Anyone wanting a clearer more open sounding pedal with a lot of gain needs to try the Suhr Eclipse. I did a shootout with the Eclipse and the BEOD deluxe and the Suhr was a clear winner.
Fernandes is the brand you are thinking of Lee about the headstock shape.
When you guys going to review the Revv G3?
G4 just came out recently too.
I think Rabea just did a review of it.
Friedman BE OD is a winner for me
loved the intro Jam. Sweeetness!
This was by far one of your best intro jams ever !!!
Guys! A video on the Schecter C6 pros please
I am trying to determine the different between the BE OD Deluxe and Ecstasy Red. Can you edit them back to back?
When @RobChampan is on his game he's hard to beat. At 3:49 goes into epic mode.
Can you guys do a video on full hollowbody jazz guitars?
Has Rob always been a riff monster? I was expecting shredding finesse but damn those riffs were sick
Beorn is a character from the hobbit by Tolkin. Astrix is a cartoon /comic from Belgium or France.
Any chance you guys will do a shoot-out between the Bogner Ecstasy and the Friedman BE100? :D
Apples and oranges. Bogner sounds more like a Plexi, while the Friedman sounds more like… a Friedman. I have both and they’re both great. I use the Bogner blue more than any other overdrive , just my preference
the cup exploding is such a pointless edit, but makes these videos 1000% more entertaining
Rob has been getting some hate lately but damn! He sounds awesome this video! Keep killing it Chappers
Lee and Rob, can you do a Thinline shoutout, I bought the Squier over the MIM because to my ears and hands the Squier plays better, and maybe I'm tone-deaf but they sound almost the same!!!! Happy New Year from México!!!!!
the cap'n with some sad metal tone was sweet!!!
The Jackson coupled with the Friedman BE OD Sounds killer
Have you ever done a blind fold test , where you get handed the same guitar twice? Or play two of the same model.
See if the modern builds have consistency ? Or noticeable differences unplugged or cranked ?
Captain has a kick ass metal tone
The full size Bogner Blue and Red sound better than the mini pedals!
what model is the jackson ???
Hey everybody Chapman’s back
Next: pick their fav fuzz pedal
Those sound great, but I think I have just outgrown gain. Is that a thing?
Absolutely is! I on the other hand I seem to like it more as I go along..... 🤷🏿♂️, I blame youtube!
mcleroy1967..... please reconsider what you just typed while you shoot spitballs at a pic of your least favorite politician before cleaning your monitor.
Fold a few paper airplanes to flight test next if BINGO still sounds appealing.
best wishes for the new year!
Feels like you've both learned some new tricks for this video. Also the ecstasy blue does sound so much better and more usable.
Is that riff from around 4:40 from a particular song? Ive heard on in other vids of rob as well. Thanks for the answer!
I think your thinking of Beorn, Lee. He was a character in J.R.R. Tolkien's, The Hobbit
Good video giys
I think that Rob is getting better and better now that he has time to practice and isn't going around the whole Milky Way
Noticed the same thing. In 2018 he had some not so great month (guitar playing wise).
BOOST!!!!
Were all the pedals working through the same amp?
Thought they were solar guitars at a first glance on the thumbnail
James Thomas same lol
Wish they had been, those Schecter's and that Jackson are hideous!
@@PeteHawthorne the jackson may be hideous but i played one yesterday and those pickups are my new holy grail. Tighest most articulate passives I've ever tried.
New Dorje rob? Sounds like he’s been writing and it’s heavy
What amps they are using?
Oh, wow, overdrive pedals. Not seen them on TH-cam before...
For once I loved the opening jam
That's witchcraft......
@@mr501mc As in the band? What song is it?
omg love the paintwork on those guitars. If they're close to £1000 i'd buy!

Rob with the Brent Hinds lick at 1:07

Make an AFD100 review video plz!
Lee with a Schecter!? 2019 you shock me already.

Bogner all the way!
These are the kind of sounds that mske a song Turn up
Now I'm torn... Kraken pedal or BEOD? Hmmph!
Carl Martin Plexitone
torgo4ever the Carl Martin sounds very similar to the be od
8:47 genius whoever thought of that
11:02 pure magic 😆
The blues hat came off Chappers - so the Djent riffs came back. I wonder which of the two - Blues or Djent - will make Chappers more money in 2019?
welcome to QVC
Sweet gains boys. Dirty fuckin' dangles.
The Captain playing a Schecter. Let that sink in.
that schecter 😍😍
Has anyone noticed they spelled favorite wrong...
Captain Anderton, diminished doom machine \m/
Holy shit. Rob is the only person I've ever heard mention Asterix before.
The ones with the Goths, the Britons and in Egypt were my favourites. Fabulous writing and artistry.
what a timely video, I'm currently studying Phrygian dominant haha Rabea would be happy about that, Rob 😂
Captain Lee...throwing up some devil horns!
If you actually take your steaks medium-high I need to take that Unicorn Fade Ghost Fret off my wishlist.
