    Another excellent build Simon, I particularly enjoy seeing your included (well done!) mishaps/omissions/modifications as you progress, nicely done and you’ve given me food for thought on the flippy cart thingy… 👏🏻 ✅

      Thanks, I'm glad you liked it, I'd rather I had a few less mishaps! But when I do have them I think it's important to show them and how I overcome them, to show that you can solve these problems. The one thing I've learned is wood is a forgiving material and can usually be repaired. 😀

    Thanks for another interesting video Simon. As much as I dislike using chipboard and other similar products, you make a good case for not disposing of anything, just in case . . .

    Retired?? You look far too young!! But a great build, and the best bit is that I now have a reference to show my wife explaining why I throw nothing away!

      Yes, I was fortunate enough in my career to retire early, gone is working 60 hours a week for a corporation, now I focus on my hobbies and helping people in the community. :-) Moneys tight, but I'm happy to be fortunate enough to do it, especially when so many are struggling to stay afloat.

    I built a similar flip cart a few years ago. To hold my planer and belt/disc sander. Design was very similar to yours. Not really much room to vary a basic thing like this. I also used just stuff I had. Most of the plywood I used had had a previous life as some other cabinet or workbench. Things have to get really cut up or tiny for me to not save them to re-use. My grandfather was a Scot and he passed down the frugal genes very strongly.
    I very much like to see minimalist type projects that don't involve a huge work shop with every possible tool and impossible material budgets. More my speed.

      I agree, reuse is the best way, it much easier to build from new parts, but more satisfying and more fun to reuse what you have, as you have to find solutions to problems and modify your design to the parts at hand. Thanks for sharing your experience and watching. Keep building!

    Hi Simon well done on the build it's great to see someone making something out of old scraps of sheet goods. It's a joke how much plywood as well as everything else costs these days in the UK. Keep up the interesting videos. Thank goodness there's no music either. Cheers Glenn

    Great build Simon,a long long long time ago I decided to build something similar for my 3 in 1 sander and bench grinder the decision was made but never executed lol

      LOL 😆 To be completely honest it wasn't that difficult and if you have the scrap then it shouldn't be too costly. So go for it. :-)

    Great video, certainly given me food for thought. I'm thinking of getting a thicknesser and considering my shop is only 8'x6', space is a premium

      It's what spurred me on to build it, I just don't have the room and they are very heavy to move around, this fixed both those problems. Thanks for watching

    Thanks Simon, that turned out fine, it was good that you included the little problems and mistakes, it makes your content relatable, similarly the need to repurpose/recycle material especially for workshop projects !
    Can I ask where did you source the metal pipe from, and was it steel ?

      @DIYTinkerer  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thanks, I'm glad your continuing to like the content. The pipe was aluminium, and was from my old observatory.

      Oh yes, it is insane, it's a combination of Brexit and the Ukraine war, a lot of Baltic Birch came from Russia.
