Having read all the Witcher books I don't remember a specific name of the ocean or sea that Cintra was on. It was bordered by the river Yaruga, and as another commenter listed it could be the great sea, but it was definitely not a major landmark. Cintra was mostly referenced to its physical location by the Skellige islands. Great books by the way absolutely worth the read! Great work as usual! Keep the videos coming!
Thanks for your amazing creations. It has inspired me with just not my own Terrains dioramas but my masters of the universe collection set up displays.
I want to share my way of doing magnets. I glue the first set in and then put magnets that will be on the neighboring piece on the glued down magnets. Then I take the other piece and press that down on the magnets and they indent circles where they need to go on the new piece. Takes the whole paint thing out of the equation and works perfect every time.
There´s so much you can do with this build if you just download the plans and follow the steps! I added another floor and made it look a little bit more like a mage tower, just adding some details. The brick gig was really amazing too, worth waiting for before beginning to craft.
I've been wondering how on earth to line the magnets up on each piece so they are in the right spot and you're the first person I've found all week that says it. Time to pick up some foam haha. I'll be using this jig quite a bit coming up. I'll try and show off the painting a bit more. Basically for this one its a lot of layers, dry brushing, and thin coats followed by a well placed wash over the stone to make sure you don't coat the entire craft and lose your grout lines.
Really brilliant build and instructions so easy to follow.can you tell us which paints you used on brickwork please as I couldn't view the four videos for special effects.thanks for your amazing ideas !!!
Thank you :) So I'm really just layering a bunch of different colors here. It's a lot of fun. The colors are: Warm White, Light Grey, Orange, Dark Brown, Dark Grey, Territorial Beige, Linen, then wash the bricks with a black wash, then a final dry brush of Linen.
It looks really good, but I'm curious how it would look on a strait surface, where you don't curve the piece and create extra space between every brick. Shiftinglands makes great stuff. Maybe he'll be on the con I'm going to sunday and ask him.
I'm working on a video now to show it off, and some even better examples coming out in the near future. To obtain the desired grout line thickness, just turn up the heat on the Proxxon! Oh, and if you see Gerard, tell him I said Hi!
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT Told him you said Hi and purchased the Brick maker and 3 roofshingle makers. I just finished a project and was planning on painting some mini's, but I'm afraid I'll end up building something with my new toys first.
If you want a far easier way to do flags or banners, there's an old tutorial on the Wagames Soldiers &Strategy youtube channel (Really wish she'd come back, miss those tutorials), one of her earlier videos, that has a few things that are really easy to do and look great. It's a specific type of paper used which works wonderfully. But one other way to do easier brick patterns, though one that leaves more dry time, is to look at some of the piecrust/pastry dies, and even some cookie cutters. There are some with notches in them for specific designs and if you have the sharper metal ones, it cuts through the dollar tree foam core extremely easily and you can just stack it up while gluing it together. And some of the stranger designed cutters can also be useful for embelishments and other terrain pieces. I've got a few pieces that are basically a bit of foam cut with one that I textured with a rock and made some cracks in them for things.
That jig is pretty cool! I think this could be modified into a dice tower even... my son wants to build one so now I guess I have to get that jig! I wanted to order the Guider Pro from there too anyway!
If you wanted to make smaller bricks, would it be possible to make one pass thru the foam as you showed, and then shift the foam in the jig a half a brick and make another pass? I can't tell if your bricks would pass for OO scale. That's some impressive tower you made there!
Great questions. The foam thickness is just to the height of each vertical cut in the jig.. its approximately a quarter of an inch. I have the heat around 2 to 2 1/2 for round structures. To get more defined grout lines on flat walls I turn the heat up to 3 to 3 1/2.
How do you keep your foam parts in place on the Shifting Lands jigs? Is there a pin that stabs into the foam or something? Heh, then saw it 15 seconds later at 4:53. Nice.
Another home run video! One question though. Is that brick jig only good for rounded projects or would it work just as well with more square and flat walls?
Right on Rick, thank you! I'm actually working on a video now show it off on a flat surface. To exaggerate the grout lines on a flat surface you just turn up the heat on the Proxxon and you're good to go!
Thank you :) I really thought long and hard about what I wanted to do here. I originally even added color to the grout, but then opted out of that because I knew I wanted to base coat the entire thing an off white. There would be enough layers of paint and wash to dirty up the grout. I used a handful of colors, brown, tan, yellow ocher too I believe. Painted sporadically over the tower. Then the heavy drybrush of grey started to bring it together. The thing is to have it thinned down enough that your other colors still show though. Then the "drybrush" of the black wash over the entire tower made it all cohesive. Don't just slap a black wash over the entire thing. It'll really take away from the grout lines and the definition of each brick. Finally a drybrush of a white or off white and you're good to go :)

Hi 79 Brik, since shipping from the US to Canada is more expensive then shipping from Europe to Canada we offer all items for Canada through the "Rest of the world " shop.
Hi! This is Scott who runs Shiftinglands USA.....as ridiculous as it sounds, it's more expensive for me to ship items to Canada than it is for Gerard to do it from the Netherlands (and I live in Maine and could drive to Canada in about 2 hours....). For that reason we've decided to leave the Canadian business with Gerard's worldwide site.I should add as a somewhat added bonus, Gerard still offers more out of his site than I currently have for sale, so there are other good reasons to check out the main site as well.

How thick do you cut the foam before putting it in the jig? And what temperature setting do you use?

This is Scott who runs Shiftinglands USA.....as ridiculous as it sounds, it's more expensive for me to ship items to Canada than it is for Gerard to do it from the Netherlands (and I live in Maine and could drive to Canada in about 2 hours....). For that reason we've decided to leave the Canadian business with Gerard's worldwide site.I should add as a somewhat added bonus, Gerard still offers more out of his site than I currently have for sale, so there are other good reasons to check out the main site as well.
18:53 what type of glue ? because hot glue will melt the paint
It's a snug fit... a bit of tacky glue does the trick.
crafting builds the muscles :O
haha... foam is heavy :)
Epic! 'nuff said!
Right on Lance :) !!
Castles are actually built with blocks, not bricks. That said, your method is amazing.
You are correct, and thank you Phil.
Great work. Looks like I will have to give Gerard yet more of my monies... Also, had now idea Cintra was located in France. As I tripped while ascending this tower. I fell......
Lol ok haha. I will say this, I plan on using this jig on a few videos in the near future. Have a good weekend. France….lol
Great jig and cool build! A little front heavy with all the adverts, though, almost lost me. :D
Thank you :)
cool jig! great looking tower. You probably know this but there is a bit of fuzz on/in your lens. I've seen it in a bunch of your videos, but it was very noticeable in this one.
I know :/ I was waiting for my lens cleaning kit to arrive. By the end of the video its better...no?
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT yes. I think it disappears when you are using the jig? or at least I don't see it after that point. Sorry to be so nitpicky. You do great work! Anymore stuff coming from the World of the Witcher?
@@claylewis8233 Oh I totally get it :) Not for now... moving on to some "big" things.
Доброе утро,.замечательная у вас получилась башня! У меня вопрос,может ли эта башня находится на у лице?Спасибо,
Спасибо. Хотя я не понимаю вашего вопроса? Вы пытаетесь найти корабль?
Where do you get the strydur foam
Netherlands :)

Please email Gerard at Shiftinglands.com
It looks Fantastic!! See you on your next video. :)
Right on Briana :)
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT Yw. :)
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT Imagine if I made one in dollhouse size it would be perfect as a guest house.
Mad genius 🤓
Thank you!!
Do NOT show this jig to Martina at Nerdforge...the makerspace couldn't handle the explosion (or the wailing), her last video was 35,000 bricks!
Gotta say, I don't work much in foam myself but this actually has me thinking 'hmm, might be worth a go'. Certainly a gear shift in the hobby, well done :)
lol, after her first tower I think she said she would ever do it again... she has dedication! Give it a shot... you might enjoy it more than you know!
so weird i was just watching bill making stuff and i have seen many BMC vids and wondered, just today why no one has just made a jig for this lol
And then here it is :) Glad you saw the video Chris.
This is really cool John! I love the tower♥ (I actually watched the video last night but was too tired to write a comment.) Your jig looks awesome and very time-saving! If only I had a Proxon table! I'm retired and living on disability. Funny that you were talking about the brick size/scale and how 3/4 of an inch is so big! I do them 1 inch by a 1/2 inch! I guess that they aren't bricks but stone blocks! lol. I didn't catch a name but did you say the tower came from a TV show?
Thanks Frank. The tower idea came from The Witcher, the city of Cintra. There are a bunch of these around the perimeter of the city.
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT I watched a few episodes of The Witcher a couple of years ago but haven't been back. I think at this point I'll have to start over. But your tower is really cool and I love it!
Whats kind of Tool is it on 7:06 ?
Check out my texture rolling pin video.
The dot in the middle of the screen was so distracting 🤣
Killer project though. You're so creative my dude
LOL, you have no idea how much that annoyed me. I was waiting on my lens cleaning kit to arrive. By the end of the video it was gone :)
Cintra is by the river Yaruga and the Great Sea.
Awesome thank you for sharing that!!
I just had to watch this one again.
Right on! Glad you enjoyed the video!

Do you think I could use my handheld foam cutter with those brick, shingle, and column jigs?
Wouahou 🥰😍
Thank you :)
Someone show this jig to Nerdforge! 😂
I know right :)
@nerdforge for your next giant castle build
She has certainly put in her time with individual bricks. I'd love to see her use this.
@@TabletopWitchCRAFT me to. I hope she sees it and gives it a try
Not bad, the roof doesn't look good though
Thanks I think haha.
yah im no full time crafter but i think i would prefer a flatter roof but thats just meee
