Shiftinglands; The Shape Shifter for the Proxxon hot wire Foam Cutter (English version)

- The Shape Shifter tool from "Shiftinglands" is an add-on for the Proxxon hot wire foam cutter.
With this tool you are able to make complex symmetrical and asymmetrical shapes. Shapes that where almost impossible to make with the Proxxon until now.
The tool will be presented at the Tactica Convention in Hamburg, February 2019, and will be added to the Shiftinglands webshop within the next few weeks.
More video's will follow with more information about this tool as well as cutting examples. We also take a look at the first expansion set for this tool.

I bought this tool, but it's not so easy to understand how to do all the shapes and It would be good to see other videos, in wich you explane how to put the templates on the chessboard to build other difficult shape. I understood when you talk to see the template at the mirror, but it's not enough. Thank you

Hi Gerard, Any chance you can do a wee tiny demo of all the goodies in shapeshifter kit…there are loads of bits but the stairs, curves and bridges are the most obvious. There are a whole bunch of other goodies that I’m sure many would benefit from learning what they all do…✨👍🏻✨I’ve just assembled mine as you know…it looks lovely. Once I know what all the bits can do, my imagination can join the Elf’s 😉

so, update: I finally got it, and I must say, I'm duly impressed. I spent all of yesterday afternoon playing with it, and got a couple of really cool spires. the only "downside" is that it is indeed a complex tool that requires you to experiment a lot with it. it says so right on the instructions, specifying (rightly so) to use low quality polystirene because you are gonna burn through loads of it while getting the hang of the tool.
the only critique I feel like doing so far is that there aren't instructions for the angle templates, took me a while to figure out how to use them.

Thank you for the demo. I was given one as a birthday present, but there are so many templates in the set is there a list of which templates make which shapes? The bridge and the stairs are reasonably easy to guess. Also is there a list of suggested settings/co-ordinates in the peg board?

Can you please tell me if the The Shape Shifter for the Proxxon hot wire Foam Cutter will fit a Hercules 8500 series hot wire Foam Cutter? Some of the available attachments are interchangeable and some of them aren’t. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

it is basically a 1:1 pantograph. Actually a pantograph might be a good accessory too.

Looks like the hot wire was scorching the hexagonal disc that the foam was attached to. There's no room for manoeuvre between the last cut of the foam and the wood that was holding it.
I'm definitely getting this now that I have disposable income. Does the shape shifter come with a set of guides, or do I have to buy the expansion set?
There are template with the tool, a video will come up soon with some nice tricks as well !

I like your video for this tool. I really like this b/c it opens up the prospects of molding. However the tracer is not as 'fine' as I'd like so it cannot read a more detailed template.
Actually there is another tracer that comes with the tool that uses a thin nail as tracer.
Is that template come with PROXXON ? Or should we purchase it from? Kindly advise
This is an add-on that you can buy in the shiftinglands shop.
So it's a copier add on like you have for wood lathes but only on 1 plane ( dimension ). So why not have a hexagon shaped wire ( as example ) less the bottom wire and you just push it through and in one pass then you have a hexagon. Less complicated wooden add on just wire shapes and a carriage to push the foam through the wires.
I do not see this available from the Shiftinglands webshop -- was it discontinued?

Depends on the type of tool. The Hercules is the exact sme machine and I know there is another one but forgotten the name.
