Congrats and good luck! In 2020 during lockdown I hit rock bottom. It took me a while to realize it but it forced me to make some changes to my life. I set the goal of running a 10K in 2021. No one laughed at me to my face but I know what they were thinking behind my back. I lost 90lbs and not only did the 10K but completed a 15K and half Marathon in 21. In 2022, I completed my first marathon as well as a 70.3 Ironman. The last couple years have been life changing in so many ways, I’ve changed jobs and moved also and I’m doing much better psychologically, physically and financially. It’s all been scary but I’ve built my confidence along the way. It all started with that one decision to complete that first 10K and tell everyone about it. Don’t be afraid to follow your dreams as anything is possible. At 55 I thought the best years of my life were behind me, but I know now they are still ahead. I can’t wait to see the new content. Good luck! 🎉

This was brave and soooo good! Believe me, as a guy in his mid 40ies I can tell you: the pain of regret is bigger than the pain of failure! I always wanted to become an Olympic speed skater, this was my biggest dream. I didn't dare to follow this path, and became a scientist instead, putting all efforts into my studies. Now, after all these years, I have tears in my eyes everytime a speedskating event is shown on TV. You did the right thing, I wish you all the best and a lot of success!!

It's great to set tough targets and follow the process to get there... love the journey/grind!
I've set myself the target of getting to masters 10k times (37:30), dropped from 53:41 to 46:40 in this, my first full year of running. Not sure if I can get there but that's part of the fun... Maybe next year would be a good time for me to consider a coach!

Now I’m running a 1:06 in half marathons , and going 825 days in a row running !! Thank you for sharing your life with us, that was really inspirational. I started running ambitiously a bit later (at age 22), but I'm loving it so much that I will try to follow a similar path. I'm currently (almost) jobless, living with my parents in a town with a great running team, but that's not the best way to live forever, obviously. It does allow me to train at a very high level, though! I still want to pursue my career as a musician / piano teacher, but not in a way that makes me unable to recover from running. I'm curious how it'll go, but I won't compromise my running, that's for sure!
So it's really inspiring me to hear from people who actually take the leap to run professionally, it's quite uncommon at least here in Germany.

This is so huge Philly!!! Congrats. I've been following your journey since you started this channel and it's inspired me to create my own running TH-cam channel! It's so cool as a viewer to say that I have played a part in your journey this far and can't wait to see you get to the Olympics!

Two videos I would love are:
A deeper dive into your ED/what you wish you could tell yourself then?
The changes of a pro life (training, recovery, mindset, nutrition etc) and the benefits it has on training?
