The ingredient you want to avoid using with glitters is 'Heptane'.
The Orly one is good - it's the same as the Sally's one in this video but without the Heptane.
Hope that helps anyone who come across this comment thread! 💕

That thinner can ruin glitter, Orly's thinner is better for glitter polishes. I just saw a girl post a glitter polish where the glitter melted because she used that brand of thinner.

I have a discontinued OPI color I love that is like goopy Elmer’s glue now, wwwaaaahhhhh! I did not want to throw it away, and now I don’t have to. Duh on my part! I should have known about this thinner product. But then I’ve been out of the business for decades now and I’ve forgotten some things. Thanks for the reminder. I’ll pick some up next time I’m at cosmo prof or sally. Blessings to you!

I am a new nail tech. I am 70 and a retired teacher who is on a new career path. I am now working at a salon, in training. The salon's main business is wellness - massage and facials etc. It is independently owned. They do offer hair and nail service as well. I haven't been released to do clients only models at this time. The salon has a wide assortment of polishes; many which are thick. The background of the owner is anesthetics, facials and massage along with other wellness services but not really in nails. She has a large clientele which is great for me. My concern is the polish. Even though she has a very large and diverse selection the client seems to pick the ones that are goopy. I was told to put acetone in it. I know better than to do that. My question: How do I approach the owner about restoring the polishes? I examined all the OPI and the majority need restoration. I have only been there 1 month; the other nail tech - well - she thinks it's OK to use a Dremel on nails. Soooo any suggestions on approach? Please send me suggestions. Thanks

I’m usually too lazy to comment on any video. I came across this video looking for ways people are storing their nail polish. I have been doing my nails as a hobby for years I just can’t believe that you can actually fix glompy nail polish I always thought they expired and had to let go of some nail polish that I adored. Anyway this video save the life of many nail polish I was just stolling to get rid of. THANK YOU SO SO much for this video. You got yourself a new fan

I am SO glad you said using acetone is only going to ruin your polish as I was waiting for you to say that's what you use to thin it.
Yes I confess I came here ready to thumbs down!
In their defense, using acetone is ok for one last use when you don't have a thinner handy but you better be prepared to throw out the polish because it's ruined now, mate!
Anyway, I hope your boss was thrilled and you can tell her that she's probably inspired a lot of people to get that silver polish!
P.S. I have 4 different thinners since nothing is ever simple any more. T_T

I'm definitely sick of people saying that acetone works as a long term solution, so I understand your frustration :P And that's wild haha you have more thinner than me! I just have one for me three free polishes (that I used in this video) and then one with toluene for older polishes (which to be honest, I never use!)

Have you ever used suspension base, along with thinner, to revive glitter polishes?
I recently saw a video where someone added clear polish suspension base (not clear base coat - an actual suspension base that you'd use to make polish from scratch) to some of her polishes because they had dried out so badly that polish thinner couldn't revive them.
I believe they were glitter polishes & the base colour had evaporated too much & you can't thin glitter alone 😂😂😂
I'd never seen that technique before & yes - it does makes the base colour more sheer but not by much.
I really want to try a combo of thinner & a little bit of suspension base in a particularly stubborn glitter polish I've been trying to revive - 'The Black Knight' by Butter London.
It's such a classic/cult hard to find polish & mine has totally gone to gloopsville but I want to make it live again!!
Unfortunately suspension base isn't as readily available as polish thinner, although I did get some in a mix-your-own-polish kit recently (from PPU).
I've rewatched this video so many times! 😂 It's so satisfying to watch the polishes get restored but I also come to watch it every time I need to use nail polish thinner 😂

Haha I actually don't even know what that is! But if it works, may as well keep doing it!

I think it's called denatured alcohol in the US.

I really wanted to see her boss’s reaction to her fixed nail polishes.

will this work on those polishes that no longer dry correctly? I have a couple that I love but they are older and when I try to use them they seem to stay soft forever.

+Joanne's Place in not sure I know the cause of that happening, so I can't say for sure if it'll work. Have you tried applying them in a cool dry area?

If the boss is having you fix her crap... That's what I call billable hours.

Haha! I was salaried at that job but I was really excited to tackle these polishes 😅😅

@@KelliMarissa yeah, i was salaried before going into business for myself. did you know that non exempt salaried are paid overtime? regardless, i didn't assume you were on overtime (over 40 hours). you just did a very low level personal task for someone as though you are PA when you are not. exemption is a scam based on the same ego-appeal that "essential workers" was. makes peeps feel important and special so they'll stoop to working for free.
      want more? pay more! :D

Yay!!! Thank you so much Kelli! I did use my polish remover before and it did work the first time I used it, like right after I did it. But, then yes it was not good and had to throw it away. This video is a great help so thank you again! :) :*
