Brisley did so well for Pompey in our Fourth Division promotion in 1980 and that Crystal Palace side was a bit tasty (the Genesis of Venables "Team of the 80s ").
Vince Hilaire had a good period at Portsmouth too!
George Graham played for Pompey too,in the 70s.

Brings back memories of Grandpa sitting in his 'Archie Bunker' chair, smoking his pipe and watching a match... Thank you, Admin.
    More vintage Sunderland, please?

A little Kitwatch with regards to the Millwall-Palace game: both teams looking resplendent in their respective Bukta and Admiral kits. I'd dare say that the few brave Palace fans at The Den that day would have been forgiven for chanting "Are You England In Disguise?"

Never found the Den that intimidating. We both speak “sarf London”.

When football meant something to the working class !! Sky destroyed it when they got their hands on it!!!

It seems only decapitation was worthy of a penalty in the Millwall v Palace match!

Ref must have watched film of the 1970 cup final replay before the game for clarification on what defences should be allowed to get away with.
