    As a former trumpet player of 13+ years from middle school through college, watching him sit and really explore on one half-valved note and just groove the octaves like that made me so resentful of my instructors. Purposefully sitting in between pitches like that was considered "playing around" and not "true music". I love that solo so much.

    I’m an old fusion guy, and this band gives me the love 100%. Saw them live twice. Best live band I’ve seen, no contest. Mike League, the composer and band leader, is one talented fella.

    We Like It Here is the album born from this session. The drummer (Larnell Lewis) was a last minute fill-in and learned all but a couple of the songs on his plane ride to the location, where he had a day or two to rehearse with the band before recording. It brings joy to my heart to see that real talent and commitment to excellence like this still exists in the music world. Great reaction! Lingus next! Cory Henry’s keyboard solo will melt your face off. 🤣

    • @GenXDaddyO
      @GenXDaddyO 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Asiyahearth17 I got the impression from the documentary that it wasn’t that tight time-wise (although even 2 days would be amazing), but it wouldn’t surprise me. After seeing that vid where he hears a song once and composes the drum part on the spot, I wouldn’t doubt that one bit.

Valeriy Stepanov: Try "Hold Onto Hope" one of his compositions, played with his brother on bass, and the amazing Russian guitarist Roman Bondarenko... - th-cam.com/video/qq2tu-vAOns/w-d-xo.html
