I made it and it looks works and looks great. You can find bushings to make the actuation very smooth. (I didn’t, found them after was done) make sure you have a strong spring for a nice form operation and reliable returns. The Heim joints (ball joints) were expensive and they come in right and and left hand threading. Thanks again for the post. ~$40 and I have a a nice looking and operating linkage.
I'm so glad I found this, I went from 2 barrel motorcraft to 4 barrel holley on my 71 FE 360, used a pice of refrigerator grate and a shoe string to hold it to the foot feed, your fix is safer for sure and looks 10 times better.
Looking for a way to do this with throttle cable and universal throttle bracket. May abandon all that and keep it clean and simple with this. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Bro!!! Im in the process of repairing my Throttle linkage too. How do you like the Holley Carb? It a 4 Barrel or 2? Thinking of changing my Carb out.
When your pedal is fully pushed in can you push the throttle on the carb any further back? Or does it reach full throttle range? Mine seems as if it doesnt have enough travel and only opens the carb half way. But if you shorten the rod anymore the gas pedal binds up/sticks. Any ideas how to fix an issue like this? Thanks!
so how would account for travel im trying to use this guide to make steering linkage for my zero turn different transmissions and all and it basically has the same principle
I'm just now getting rid of my factory carburetor linkage. It's absolute garbage and dangerous as well. If you have a motor mount break at WOT, that linkage can bind up and cause your carb to STAY at WOT. Not a good scenario.
I ask my friend every two days or so and its the same thing..., "it's on my dad to take care of the registration", and we all know that could take months. the second I hear anything a video will be made for sure, so stay tuned!
i know this is an old vid, but there's an updated solution.. i have a 70 F100 w/360 2bbl. was getting the hard-start carb heat soak issue after driving and restarting, so i bought a holley 1" phenolic spacer kit to distance the carb from the intake/heat. that 1" put the stock throttle linkage + return spring totally out of wack for angle and length. i cut the stock "trapeze" rods and tried to adjust/compensate for the new height/angle, but it just kept binding and the pedal felt rock hard. i came across craig's video and the link for the original thread and got excited! the problem for me (in my area) was that NObody had heim joints. everything had to be "special ordered" and i couldn't wait to piece meal this mod together. so i went to summit and bought this: www.summitracing.com/parts/sdk-c5zz9a702bl?seid=srese1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwyN-DBhCDARIsAFOELTndiNNsYBsUouyI9BwrUKTqcXkyxrn1_b4kBLtsSJpJrBq_wUtUatgaAoF_EALw_wcB if you can't find the parts to make this on your own or just aren't a DIY'er, than this makes life simple and costs about the same it costed craig back in 2017 and will be at your door from summit in 2 days. it's quality stainless and bolts right on! DONE.
I have a 72 f250 and what i did with the linkage was i bent the rod from the gas pedal to that weird thing he was talking about, But for a better way do what he says.

Absolutely been fighting my 70f250. Originally was a 2 barrel now a 4 barrel Holley. The factory bell crank throttle linkage is way over complicated

Exactly what I needed to see
Awesome job 🤙🏻
Awesome I really really like the finished product, im so doing this!
Can’t wait to do this! Thanks man!
Awsume!! anybody who has this old stock linkage will tell you thanks!! including me!
This video was very helpful- thank you brotha!

Thanks for the video I left a comment regarding the old linkage system I'm going to try this set up
Soon .......
Good vid. That wind was kicking your ass tho.

Great vid, keep it coming :)
thank you!
What’s the exact measurement of the rod for yours?
The 5/16 tube doesnt fit over the 1/4 thread.
instructions unclear giant hole and drill bit in carb jk great video
haha i like that^ thanks man!
Pretty cool fix! But you know what your fans want to hear.....did you get the '65?

Anyone figure out how to use this with a kick-down rod to the transmission?
