I brought my son & daughter to mass from the day they were born. They’re 25 and 16 today and deeply rooted in Christ. I have no regrets, no regrets. It was so hard; especially when they were new born babies, especially with my boy. He wouldn’t sit still for 1 minute between the ages 2-3. I admit, one time, I pinched him silently 😱 on his thigh (sorry Jesus 😞). He got all teary but didn’t dare cry. After that day, he sat better & behaved. My daughter was always on her best behaviour, no issue. It was hard, but no regrets. Up until today, they both never miss mass. And we love to talk about the Readings & the Gospel after every mass. Nice. I love this. But I also never take things for granted, and so I pray every night; “Lord Jesus, keep both my children rooted at Your cross for the rest of their lives. Give them good Catholic spouses in that they will grow strong in their faith forever as a family with their own kids. Amen.”

So you didn't care that it bothered others, a whole room-full of people in fact? People bringing their screaming and yelling kids is the most selfish thing ever, they care neither about the kids, nor about all of the other people, only about themselves! They are too greedy to hire a baby-sitter and would rather torture their kids who don't want to be there and are just yelling and everyone else! Greed and selfishness dressed up as some sort of sacrifice.

@@ElenaKomleva how would you have children learn the importance of attending Mass without their actually attending? Given the current state of the world and the frighteningly low belief in God by today's young adults, I dare say that God would much rather have those raucous kids with their family in His house than sitting at home with a non-church-attending babysiter playing video games or watching TV. Better to develop the habit of attending church WHILE learning to respect peace and quiet for others' sake than to potentially never appreciate going to Mass at all. Perhaps graciously offering to help a struggling parent to quiet their child would be a better demonstration on your part that YOU have actually learned something from our Lord's teachings.

@@ElenaKomleva That was really cruel. Not everyone can afford a babysitter like you probably can!!!! You did not listen to Fr. Mike’s talk so you do not value that the children are in God’s holy presence. @ Love-divine please continue taking your child to Holy Mass. May our Lord Jesus bless you.

I needed to hear this! Thank you! When I have my baby and child at mass with me and if they're acting up I do feel bad that it may distract others, let alone me sweating and not hearing a thing from the service. I will now go to mass with the intention of offering my woes up. A couple of months ago a priest came up to me at the end of mass after my baby was particularly noisy and he said he loves hearing the young at mass and he put me at ease. 🙏🏻

At my Church it isn't TLM but it is, just the "ordinary" form, The Priest likes the kids for the homilies, to enrich it I suppose.

Without babies at Mass it’s a dying Church. There’s no way the Church can grow without babies. I love seeing babies at Mass because that means there are young people at Mass as well since most parents are relatively young. I am concerned that the vast majority at Mass have gray hair. Where have all the millennials gone? I pray that the millennials and gen x’ers will return because their eternal souls are in grave jeopardy until they do.

@Ashling S I had a priest tell me the same thing many, many years ago. And amazingly, my children began joining in the prayers at Mass by the time they were 3 years old. You do your children much good by bringing them to Mass and teaching them by example; your example of offering to God your children and your struggles.

My girls are now 4 and 5, and by now they have gotten used to Mass and they pay attention and stay relatively quiet. But Rewind to when they were newborns and young toddlers, and it was messy and noisy and I'd break into a sweat trying to make sure they didn't disturb anyone! For a while I wondered what I was getting out of church if i couldn't concentrate on the scripture and homily, but the answer was clearly the Eucharist. If I ever see a mom struggling, I give them a smile of reassurance because we've all been there! It'll get easier mama, hang in there 😉

8 don't always hate Jesus. When I think about what he gave to me I love him. When people think I should be crucified like him I hate him. He was supposed to do that so no other would have to die that way. I sacrifice every day I'm living. In death I would feel greedy and selfish.

I cry alot. I was taught some things that I see as sacred and others just ignore them and make me feel alone and cast away. I see you are happy. I wish I was. Being robbed makes me feel I'm going to starved to death and executed for nothing at all. Being robbed makes me feel my entire life's work is wasted . None of you care anything about me. I can see none of you know what I need. You ignore me and make me want to die. And sometimes even a bit sooner than I will if I had been treated better. I'm terrified. If you keep refusing to change I'm going to die. I never refused any offering. Nobody ever made one. Everything I am has just been discounted and my work left for dead. I don't know anyway that cries as much as me. I'm in the worst shape I've ever been. Just five years ago I was in the best shape I'd ever been in. Had they understood basic English I would have been in even better shape. Being in worse shape with nothing to look forward to but death is the saddest state you could ever put me in. I hope I kill myself tonight. It's better than living in this ultra depression you created and left me in. I don't want to see anyone. I don't want to go outside. I don't want to see who's outside. I want to lock the door lay down and die. I'm going to lock myself in my room and never open the door. If anyone tries to come in I'm going to cut my own throat so I never speak again. That's what you all gave to me. A reason not to live. A reason to quit and check out early. Thanks for never ending depression and death. I deserved better. I won't ever get it. Good bye. Forever.

    SO true!!!
Sacrifice is the thing that unites us to God!
I remember my mom telling me when I was young that because she, in her youth, had taken care of several younger brothers, and because she had had her own eight kids, her least favourite chore was cleaning dirty cloth diapers in the toilet. But she offered this as a sacrifice to God by praying constantly, telling Him she was doing this for Him, while she cleaned the dirty diapers.
Unknowingly this was a life lesson well learned by me, because I ended up with a severely mentally handicapped son who was in diapers for 38 years (plus my other children). And I still clean up his dirty messes. I offer the sacrifice to God, but, God has blessed me because I don't seem to mind the work as much as my mom did.

Does anyone remember the old L'Oreal advert that ends with "Because you're worth it"? My son finds it tough going to Mass as he finds it rather boring, but thankfully he knows it's the right thing to do in order to worship the God. I love Fr Mike explaining that even his "boredom" can be offered up as a sacrifice. Each time we go to Mass we effectively say to God - BECAUSE YOU'RE WORTH IT!

And all our life should be a worship to Our Heavenly Father, so what ever you do, do it/offer it as a sacrifice.
Many times I wondered what He wanted me to do, what was/is His will for me? Just doing what I have to do according to my calling and do it the best I can and offering it as a sacrifice. Offering ones mistakes, ones illnesses, ones joys, success but it is harder to offer up what is humiliating than what makes us look great. Sacrifice is the test of true love anyway. Thank you Father Mike. God bless and protect you. UOP.

After a two hour conversation with my mother, which was more faith-based than I had intended it to be, this was an interesting thing to hear. Part of my conversation with her was the fact that I only recall her taking me on my younger brother Rick, we were Irish twins to mass maybe four or five times the only other time I can remember my parents being in church was for maybe Easter Easter Sunday before we went out to brunch., or when one of the five of us was getting a sacrament. At the time we were in public school so we went to CCD on Saturday morning and what was probably a little early and it’s time after CCD was Saturday afternoon mass for the CCD kids. So we all went to mass and what was out larger size room. It wasn’t in the church itself but we had a very incredible young priest who we all just loved. We all went to church then five of us and if we were picked to take the gifts to the altar, thought that it was Christmas, what an honor. That was how it was at our house, and when we moved and became a member of a new parish, the same thing happened I had been. Rick and I had both been confirmed, and the rule went down that you had to stay in CCD until you were confirmed and then you could quit. I can remember wishing that I was back at Saint Andrews although as I think about it Fr. Hughes he was probably onto something else. Because I had always hoped that we would remain there long enough that I could be in his teen club. We had a great nun who had great ideas and and when we done so many things that she thought were proper and charitable, we were rewarded with a trip to see Godspell in Chicago or one night. “Don’t bother me God for I can’t cope.” She was a treat and a treasure but she left, and there wasn’t anyone who was interested in what the teenagers had the thing at that time. So it fell by the side it wouldn’t be until almost 20 years had passed. She was the aunt of one of my best friends. And her brother had died and so I went to the wake. I saw Tracy who was my friend and I said is sister Mugs around. And Tracy told me that she had left the church. You could’ve knocked me over with a feather, but I did get to see her that night fortunately had made sure I put pictures of Rick and I, his son, Nicholas, and my two children, Andrew and Allison in my purse so I could show them off. I don’t know and I didn’t feel it was my place to ask her why she left I’m sure she had her reasons little did I know at the time that it would be another 30 years before I return to the church. Is the best thing I have ever done for myself I thank God every day for it.

Thank you very much for this consoling message, Fr. Mike! Initially, I'm afraid you was going to say 'please don't take your kids to church, what a distraction!' :) But then to hear this truly heart-warming message as 'come on home (church) with all (little kids/distractions, etc.) you've got to Me (God)', it really resonate in m heart. I was having my family and I in church weekly years ago, but not anymore, unfortunately, which really pierced my heart, but all I can do is to pray daily (whenever possible) to try to gather them all back home to church (whether if it's on my time or in God's time). But yes, regardless, nothing is more crucial than bringing our gifts (family) to the altar every Sunday to offer to God all that we really have in our life and to praise Him, the Almighty, living God. May the Lord, our God forgive me and bless all my families, and everyone else. Kyrie eleison, Christe eleison, Kyrie eleison. Amen.🙏

He was the most loving, gentle, affectionate, loyal, obedient, intelligent and downright doting cat I have ever known in my life. We were bestfriends for the past 14½ years! 😭💔
I offer my pain, and suffering up to the Lord for the conversion of sinners, and souls in Purgatory. 🙏🏻🕊💓🌹

    3:47
(CCC 838 -- "With the Orthodox Churches, this communion is so profound 'that it lacks little to attain the fullness that would permit a common celebration of the Lord's Eucharist.'")
"Worship is...an offering of self -- a sacrifice..." --Light for Life (Part 2)
I was reading two older Eastern Catholic catechisms, Light for Life and Life and Worship: The Mystery of Christ Among Us, and I would like to add a couple points to complement what Fr. Mike is saying. First of all, the Eastern Churches do not have a view of Divine Liturgy as an obligation; rather, they see it as life-giving. Also, their view of salvation is as deification (or divinization, i.e., theosis). To Fr. Mike's point about sacrifice and salvation, the Eastern Christians believe that there is "no theosis without kenosis," that is, there is no participation in God's life without self-emptying. Therefore, the ultimate sacrifice is self-sacrifice for God: Thy Will be Done :)
    Thank you, Fr. Mike.

My parents used humor to handle problems of life. We'd be out at church or a restaurant, looking for a nice time out when a child would start crying. Dad's response? He'd say "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord." Strangly, the noise wasn't nearly as irritati g.

It’s kind of funny seeing little children at the TLM when their parents have to take care of one of their siblings because they were being fussy during Mass. You don’t get it often from the infants, but it is the 2 and 3 year olds that are quite wiggly if no one is there to watch them.

Well said! I’m publishing a weekly TH-cam video on episodes from the life of Don Bosco, entitled ST JOHN BOSCO by JOE ZAMMIT. In this series I’m narrating events and miracles from the splendid life of Don Bosco. St John Bosco used to perform a miracle almost every day, through the intercession of Mary Help of Christians. From the lives of saints we can learn how to love God more and draw closer to him. Thank you

When we go to church with pain of all kinds, we are giving to Jesus our trust. You are telling God you surrender to his will and are coming to him as you are at the moment. It could be with a heavy heart, sadden heart, lonely heart; the best you are doing for God is "God, I give you my heart and I trust in you"! Praise Jesus at all times because he a wonderful, merciful and loving God!

    Saint Matthew 9:12-13
He heard this and said, “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do.
Go and learn the meaning of the words, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’I did not come to call the self-righteous but sinners.”

"The world will be a much worse place without your contribution. You are contributing to your race and to the generations to come. Like plants and animals, you give for the generations to come. You give all and you are spent at the end of your life. You gave all! Now you leave, happy. There is nothing else to do. But that giving cannot be natural within you until you have reached a certain threshold. It is both an empowerment and a surrender all at once. You are more self-directed, more in control of your own thoughts and behavior, but on the inside you are opening up. This can seem very contradictory, particularly to observers, but it is natural."
A quote from - The New Message from God - *Wisdom from the Greater Community, Book 1* - by Marshall Vian Summers.

    • @jack_skeean
      @jack_skeean 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I would be very careful quoting Summers. He is a false prophet. Much of what he teaches is New Age and extremely heretical. People who take him seriously can very easily be led astray from the truth that Christ has revealed.

@@jack_skeean Thanks for the remark. Keep in mind that the same thing was said about Jesus in his time. But I understand from where you are coming from. There is much in the world today that portrays itself as benign but there is a world of difference between something looking good and being good.
However, as a student of the New Message for over four years now, I have nothing other than deep respect and admiration for Marshall.
And regarding the teachings he has brought into the world, I am certain that anyone with an open heart and a discerning and unbiased mind will see them for what they truly are. They have been sent now for every person who has the eyes to see and the ears to hear, but first they must look and listen.

Developing the ability to hear and the desire to hear will yield to you that which you seek. The truth is utterly beneficial to you, but at first it can be quite shocking and disappointing to your other plans and goals. This you must risk if you wish to have the certainty and the empowerment that the truth will bring to you.
