My problem with the brutalist skin is that you'll never see it outside of:
- The base core
- Battlefield servers
It should be made a stone skin or be sold at a big discount relative to other skins.
Plenty of people use armor for key parts of the outside of their build -- especially foundations/bottom layer, the walls outside of 3rd/4th floor open cores, etc. It's a basement skin because it will mostly be used for core and gives it a concrete foundation look.

The Frontier skin is perfect, honestly its how wood should be. They did a great job on it.

Frontier looks good but I mean the whole meaning of normal wood is to look like logs because that’s all you could get.
Maybe this is just me but Large Furnace skins would be a nice thing to see. I wouldn't sink money into the gingerbread skin unless it had more flair, considering it will be a limited time purchase. Brutalist should definitely reincorporate some heavy armored metal instead of the stone look, considering it takes hqm to make it and not concrete. I don't build bases out of wood so frontier skin seems like something I'll avoid.
I don't think gingerbread will be paid DLC - to be confirmed - just seasonal. Large furnace skins yes!
i think some bare rebar sticking out here and there would be cool because you could incorporate some rust stains from the metal. just like the adobe has some stuff sticking out near the roof line they could do that style just with rebar

I agree. The brutalist skin looks like stone skin, and it looks like it's made with breeze blocks inside. It looks like it should take 5 minutes with a hammer to beat the wall down.

I encourage you to take a sledgehammer to a wall made of thick concrete slabs and see if you can knock it down in 5 minutes.

Yeah, that's my point. It don't look like thick concrete from the inside. It looks like the same cheap breeze block construction I have at my office. It took about 5 minutes for the builder to knock out a door sized hole.@@Mika-ph6ku
wood skin needs recolor option, similar colors to the buildings at bandit camp.
They should add recolors for all building skins. It doesn't need all the shipping container choices, but 4-5 would be great, adobe and brick would both look nice in other shades.
I haven't bought any besides shipping container because they're too common, your base looks exactly the same as everyone else that owns it. With shipping container I can choose a color and stand out from my shipping container neighbors.
With so many DLCS they are becoming unjustifiable at the 10$ price point. They need to retroactively make older DLCs cheaper now and/or make future dlcs cheaper. DLCs are nice when theres a few of them at 10 a pop, but when theres going to be more and more AND MORE AND MORE of them, keeping them at 10$ is exploitative.
I'm with this. Why is it over $10 per building skin when the voice pack DLC provides 15x more content? This feels like a cash grab. It's the first time I feel like Facepunch has been unreasonable with its pricing, but it's still pretty goofy pricing.
Not only, but also: bundles. A 'hazmat' bundle and a 'building' bundle seem to make sense given the current offerings. Some sort of subscription service would even be acceptable, if DLC is going to continue at the current pace - with the items only available as long as the subscription is held.

I'd be down for some sales on these DLCs. I understand that there are points where a lot of folks already own the game and so they have to come up with ways of continuing to make money, but the DLCs do cost a lot for what they are... just charge like $2.99 for something like this and $10-15 on large DLC packs.
i want them to be included in the over 100 dollar version of the game. I payed a LOT and i just want the skins and racks

I'm actually happy that Facepunch is charging a decent amount for these. Yes, it does seem weird in the context of the older DLCs, but given that these building skins are all totally cosmetic, it doesn't actually change my experience playing without them. If it means that development of Rust continues to be economically sustainable for Facepunch, I'm all for it.
Bugs like npcs glitching into the ground and being able to shoot you are stil in the game after years of updates but a new dlc is cool.
These look sick, one thing I wish they would do is make more dlc like they used to. I think a sports dlc is due, something with like a pool table, footballs, volley balls, basketballs, etc. Now you have to pay $10 for a weapon rack when it used to be that price for several items.

@@jefmoesy Right, the skins are kind of trash. The only part that looks okay on any of them is the outside, but you spend most of your time inside.
I love all the upcoming building skins and very likely to buy them, but there's one missing that I've been hoping for...bamboo and tiki skins for that south pacific feel!

ooooh you used a Rhett and Link reference. I love you more. Also, I probably won't get the wood skin purely because I never build bases in wood. Sometimes if I'm in a rush, I will but it quickly becomes stone within a few minutes because it's so easy to raid wood.
I really like the frontier wood. But in rust i normally build stone right away so i wont ever really see it. But i do love how the frontier skin looks
I love the idea of having 10+ options to change the look for buildings but I can't bring my self to spend $200 for them because they are not tradeable, I understand and would pay the price if you could sell them later as other wise it seems like way too overpriced

They aren't getting enough money from cheaters re buying the game so they have to find other ways to jew the average playerbase
There's a fairly high time investment in making these skins on the dev side, added with the low expected sales they probably don't have very high profit margins as is, making them cheaper would only add to that, though it would make me want to buy them a little bit more which is something that could very much matter in a marketing view of things.
At the end of the day you're not forced to buy them as they offer no advantage so the price is kind of comparable to workshop skins, people who are interested in this stuff don't mind spending 15$ on a skin if they particularly like it.

Frontier looks very good. I think its likely we will see gingerbread this december. It only makes sense.
In terms of brutalist, it just looks way too smiliar to stone. I think some more focus should be put on making it look better on the inside considering thats where you will see it most often.

I want to see some book shelves to place on walls or doorways. Also skins for the water bottle to create a wine bottle or beer. Also maybe coffee beans that you can add to mixing table to make coffee
Would love to see Legacy style metal base skins. One of my fondest memories of Legacy was making a basic 2x2 with an upstairs with all metal
i don't even play rust anymore, but your videos and keeping up with this amazing game is pretty fun
Gingerbread skin: already exists in game, just needs to be moved over to the skinning system.

i wish they made a HQM embrassuire to go with the HQM doors and Brutalist skin. I want to build a true bunker looking base without having to make all kinds of meta peaks/gaps and stuff.

The hideousness of that Gingerbread skin will haunt my dreams forever.
One of my only issues with the woodskin is there don't seem to be any gaps in the wood so you can't peek through like you can in the current iterations of wood building. Why not technically adding protection the loss of information you can glean from a default woob base does add some possible protection

As the only person who has ever beaten RUST (ask Garry) I hereby give the entire rust community a full green light to roofcamp, doorcamp, offline, and/or grief the bejesus out of any and all gingerbread bases. Also, cool wood skin that won’t last past two hours of a player getting off the beach.

i think brutalist shoud show signs of damage (once below 50% shoud show rebar or bigger cracks) and stay where it is since theres already adobe on stone
I think most people eventually end up with metal walls im not sure why there isnt more appealing metal skins.

Would be cool if they made a animation for when something is being destroyed like for instance when a wall or ceiling or foundation is getting close to breaking it'll start developing cracks and or even a slight hole where you can be able to get a little sneek peak. Also, an obsidian skin for the hqm teir would be cool.

DLCs are exciting but definitely overwhelming! I love having different building skins and deployables, but I've definitely already spent too much money on this game, and it's inevitable that I continue to do so in the future with more DLC releases.

I roleplay hard. I cant go without buying these items. I've basically had to stop playing now. this game feels like a Chinese mmo with how much money it wants from me.
Think for Gingerbread you should be able to lick it for health - like Candycane - and as you lick it takes damage but gives health/food....

I don't give two tin snots about the Rust DLC. So long as it's not directly or exploitatively P2W (adding more boxes to a room due to thinner hit boxes for wall textures isn't p2w imo) and isn't required, it's good in the hood afaik. I may even buy a skin one of these days. I appreciate that they've taken an ARMA-style approach with DLC where the content exists in the game and is viewable by everyone and/or limited use (like picking up skinned weapons, rocks, etc...). In ARMA they lock down DLC vehicles so that you can't drive them, but you can ride in them and stuff.

Yea to fix brutalist all it needs is some exposed rebar. That would instantly make it far better in identification. Other details are a plus.
Nice concrete skin, but what about making base upgrades into 4 lvls instead of 3? The concrete skin looks like a lvl 3, but armored steel is then definelly a lvl 4.
I just kind of hope eventually they release a massive package of a lot of these building materials with a slight discount. Buy all = discount basically.
Wood skin is great. I imagine they would release a wood door skin like they did the metal door. Nice to know im not the only would who was not a fan of the brutalist skin

If i could get all skins in a pack for 10-15 euro's i'll consider it but at these prices i'll just build standard on official, and on some modded servers all skins are free anyway.

The brutal stone skin looks intimidating
The concrete does look too weak. It was my first thought as well. Considering how close concrete is to stone, it’s a bit confusing to use they skin for hqm and not stone.
How about slots/drawers in the Repair Bench where you can place : Wood, Frags, HQM Leather ,Cloth, ect...So that you dont have to carry them over every time. If its there, you put it there.

I'd like to see rust ad a draw bridge option for base construction.
Skins are cool, the more variety on them, the better, the game mechanics are solid, this kind of extra stuff is cool. The brutalist skin ngl have sence that it looks like a basement, since being in the core of a base feels like being in one to be fair. Ginger bread skin will the choice for trap houses for sure. The more dlcs, the better, ppl dont have to buy them all, this is the right way to support facepunch while hopefully they work in rust 2.

Is gingerbread stone? I already have xmas skins for doors, furnaces, etc, plus lights and garlands, it will be nice to have a fully themed base.

In my opinion- we get a DLC every month that i get some people don't like; but the stuff being sold aren't game breakers. We also get sizeable updates for free each month, that change the game in some way that is great. I support FP DLC policy

The gingerbread is clean
Theory for skins coming out soon, brutally (if that doesn't scream Halloween timeframe along with the fact it's already on staging I don't know what is) will be released for Halloween, I would think frontier skin would be released for Thanksgiving, and the gingerbread is most certainly Christmas timeframe
Perfectly fine with them doing DLCs, I just think they really need to evaluate how some of the DLCs give advantages to players over those who don't own them, thus making them feel necessary (such as the Underwater torch, Arctic hazzy skin, various building skins affecting their collision models, etc.)
