Thanks so much Nathan, glad it was helpful. Short tennis in the service boxes is something everyone does but there is a difference in the way it is performed by high level players and less experienced players and the results it achieves in warming us up and actually getting ready to play

@@PatrickSmithTennis yes indeed, the story of legendary champions Laver and Rosewall playing mini-tennis together for hours as practice comes to mind! 🎾👍🙏

completely unnecessary just stand at normal distance and take it a bit slower

That's a bit of a dismissive comment @lsfire3489. Can you clarify where you mean by normal distance? As the point I was trying to make is when I have been observing a lot of recreational players they do not recover back behind the service line, play too far up the box leading to no time to set up properly, bunting the ball back with shorter swings and not developing the feelings they want to re-create from the back of the court. It may not apply to you depending on your experience level and if you are already doing this that's great but it will be beneficial for others. Thanks for watching.

@@PatrickSmithTennis never understood the need to warm up in the service box pretty sure the pros dont do this before a match. The strokes are not realistic to what one would ever use in a real match. To me it is much more relaxing to stand at normal distance and just hit it a bit more relaxed. This way my body is way better warmed up. In fact i find it hurtful for my body to force my self to hit within the service box to a start.

@@lsfire3489 I disagree, hitting in the service boxes is a great way to get loose, recalibrate your strokes and find you rhythm/timing in a controlled environment. It encourages you to learn to control the ball at a slower speed and if you can do that on half a court you will be much better at it under regular conditions. Also not true about the pros. I've seen the most elite players in the world at the biggest tournaments including grand slams and they started in the boxes before hitting sessions. I'm also frequently around ITF Futures and international junior events and they all start at the front before moving back. What you may be seeing is they don't do this in the 5 minute match knock up but they have already gone through a full warm up routine beforehand and this is just to acclimate them to court, crowd, opponent. If I really doesn't seem to work for you then ok but I would give it another shot 👍
