An excellent interpretation of Shelley's Frankenstein. Quite close to the book itself! I can't help but feel sorry for the creature. He didn't ask for any of this, but because he is "other," he is persecuted, rejected and forever an outsider.

Victor was having so much success with every one of his experiments that I expected the creature to immediately wake up and say, "Oh, hello, you must be Victor..... Thank you for bringing me back to life. Do you have an aspirin? I've got a splittin' headache. " All spoken with a lovely cockney accent. Last time I had my head sewed back on, it took me days to get a good range of motion. LOL Fun movie, well acted, thanks for the upload.

Prince Nuada, he has the most beautiful voice I have heard.
The "monster's" pain and grief never fails to break the heart and fill my eyes with tears, chased and beaten by people simply for existing.
And still it happens today, and I hate humans for it, for their hypocrisy, bigotry, for their cruelty.
For all those that are different, or feel different, you are the magic in this world; don't let them kill that part of you, I cherish your difference.

This was hands down the most faithful adaptation of the source material than any other before, almost word for word. The original with Boris Karloff was a completely different story conveniently with the same name & origin in a superficial sense. The sequel Bride of Frankenstein was its own thing with Elsa Lanchester portraying Mary Shelley & appearing as the bride for maybe like 5 minutes if that which, to be fair, the original book only briefly mentioned the bride as well but the sequel was literally called Bride of Frankenstein so she should’ve been the main focus rather than being an afterthought in the last 5 minutes of the film where she just gets her scenes of jerking her head & screaming then dying from electrocution. This retained the philosophical elements of the original with stellar performances by the cast who really made you empathize with & care about them. But also did incorporate some elements of the original Universal James Whale directed films like creating the creature from cadavers & animating it to life via electricity whereas in the book, the creature is created from scratch & animated through a previously unknown & undescribed process which couldn’t be done in film because in books you can just say how something was done without describing it but you have to show it being done in film or television so they had to change how the creature was created in the original Universal films & here but it didn’t ruin the story. I can’t say enough good about this film, it’s absolutely fantastic.

Me too, after I first read the book I thought Dr Frankenstein was the real monster in the story, and you see it in this movie as well. He brings what's basically a blank slate to life then he just runs away from him - leaving him in s very hard cruel world he doesn't understand (and who doesn't understood him either). Then as soon as Frankenstein is back on his feet he decides he'll find him and "erase" any trace of what he did - so kill him - he had way too much pride.

People who were allowed to wear the color purple during the Elizabethan era, as decreed by the English Sumptuary Laws, were the Queen, Queen's mother, children, and sisters, and aunts. The King, King's mother, children, brethren, and uncles.
The Meaning of the color Purple
The color and material used in Elizabethan Clothing was extremely important. People who could wear the color Purple was dictated by English Law. These were called the Sumptuary Laws. The colors of Elizabethan clothes, including the color Purple, provided information about the status of the man or woman wearing them. This was not just dictated by the wealth of the person, it also reflected their social standing. The average person couldn't read in 1818 it was the preserve or teachers, clergy, doctors and scientists. My only complaint is the Monster isn't even that ugly. I know they're being all faithful to the novel but some more creative kills would've been cool too.

Thing is, Mary Shelley described the monster as both beautiful and terrifying. Him being a big gothic deathly pale man lined up with her descriptions.

I have seen at least THREE Frankenstein movies...
There was one that made three people come back to life. He thought the more he did it, the better it would get.
However, I must say this is the best version and it was free on TH-cam.

It's fascinating and amazing,(maybe not the best descriptive words), that the drive for knowledge, a need to know how everything works. What makes the world and the universe tick. Thousands of years ago, men and women were searching these answers. Imagine if there had been no road blocks, or borders and wars to stop the spread of knowledge? Imagine if some of the gears didn't have to hide from the church all those years? How far might we be ahead? Science, as he said, is the way to open all doors. That search for knowledge should be nurtured.
    Peace ✌️
